At the same time, there is heat energy lost into the environment by conduction through a grill. This study discussed the use of waste heat from a conventional grilling stove to produce energy to drive the self-rotating fan system. The component used was the thermoelectric module type TEG SP1848 which can convert heat energy into electrical energy. The experiment was carried out in two stages. The first step was testing the temperature characteristics produced on both the hot-side and cold-side of thermoelectric using 2 treatments (with water in the heatsink and without water). The second stage was the experiment by using 3 variations of the thermoelectric configuration i.e. single module, a double module using a series circuit, and a double module using a parallel circuit. Observation results had shown that the use of water can stabilize the temperature on the cold side of TEG and the temperature was lower than without water. Besides, there was a positive trend indication between $Delta$T and voltage as well as $Delta$T and electric current where increase in $Delta$T increase in voltage and current so that the power generated was also higher. The power generated during the grilling process had been able to rotate the 3 V DC self-rotating fan system. Experimental results had shown that the use of a dual parallel configuration produced the highest power with an average voltage of l.SO V, an electric current of 1.8 mA, and an average $Delta$T of 48. 8°C.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"412 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124411955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study discusses the application of universal design (UD) for future urban public transport in Indonesia which will be based on electrically powered autonomous vehicles (AV). The universal design concept of AV coupled with the sharing economy concept will allow the realization of a transport system that is both eco-friendly and user-friendly. The sharing economy will optimize the consumption pattern by preventing the occurrence of excessive usage of resources and underutilized assets. The concept of UD involves seven principles approach which covers equitable use, flexibility in use, simple and intuitive use, perceptible information, tolerance for error, low physical effort, size and space for approach and use. The design concept illustrates the application of UD and sharing economy through the design of smartphone platform applications, AV fleets, supporting infrastructure tailored for AV operation, and ideation. The applicability of UD and sharing economy in the future urban AV will increase the possibility of its adoption in the public transport system. The concept will define the features necessary for an ideal scenario of the ideation process. Furthermore, accessibility is the key to the UD approach, as the principle will allow not only people with special needs but a wide range of users to use it more easily. The application of this concept, in the end, will induce urban population to use public transport instead of private vehicles that create traffic congestion.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":" 15","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120830026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hospital trolleys for delivery of medical supplies are one example of micro mobility. This study introduces the conceptual design of a universal autonomous platform as a replacement for the hospital trolleys to solve the problem of musculoskeletal complaints among the trolley operators. The introduction of the Industry 4.0 concept involving the internet of things (IoT) and the cyber-physical system has made the idea possible to realize. In the first stage, we performed problems seeking ergonomic and design issues on the current trolleys by observation and interview. As expected, manual materials handling (MMH) to operate the trolley manually induces musculoskeletal complaints especially low back pain. The ergonomic problems then analyzed and taken into design consideration thoroughly during the design process. In the design concept, we will eliminate MMH as much as possible by the introduction of an autonomous micro vehicle as a modular platform. The modular platform will be able to accommodate various types of the superstructure to perform the various functions which the current hospital trolleys are serving.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124797664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cooling system was attached on existing 400 W polycrystalline PV panels. The PV temperature is maintained by controller at 30° C against rising temperatures above it by spraying water using 32 nozzles on the back side of the panel surface. PV testing with cooling system was carried out by including non-cooled PV panels for comparison. Then effect of temperature on the PV output power including the cooling system losses analyzed, net power and increasing in efficiency presented. Finally, the overall use of a water spray cooling system on PV panels was evaluated. Test results showed the PV output power with the cooling system increased by 9.03% compared to the non-cooled PV. The increase in temperature per degree above 30 °C caused PV output power decreases 0.411%. Overall, by involving the calculation of system losses the net PV output power gain becomes 4.09%.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116620292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of hydropower gives no negative impact to environment, especially for greenhouse emission. A gravitational vortex hydropower is the object of this study, with the focus on the water intake channel using rectangular geometry. An experimental study was conducted to find the influencing parameters on the intake section of the gravitational vortex hydropower. A set of parameters were varied to determine which parameters affecting the water surface at the intake channel. By analyzing the results of the experiments, the influence of parameters on the water intake channel of gravitational vortex hydropower was found. A performance curve for differentiation of flow type and identification of surface contour has been made. Based on the results of the experiment, placing a strainer at 5 cm distance gave 60% higher output power since this setting could reduce the wave speed. Recommendation to have further study in non-dimensional parametric should be considered for increasing efficiency of the gravitational vortex hydropower.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114694575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PV farm integration as distributed generation (DG) can be used as the solution to both problems. PV installations are considered a suitable solution since it used renewable energy. However, misplacement or unsuitable capacity of PV installations in the distribution systems can possibly worsen the system quality, thus optimization is needed to ensure that the goal is achieved by also improve the system quality. This paper presents the optimization of the location and sizing of PV farm using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) in order to reduce losses and voltage drop as well as increasing the overall system reliability. The results indicate that the PV installations with the optimized locations and sizes can reduce the losses and voltage drop and increase the system reliability.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125382945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the options is to replace fossil fuel with palm oil which has many similar characteristics with diesel fuel. However, palm oil has a higher viscosity level than diesel oil which may cause imperfect atomization in the nozzle. As a result, a heater is needed to alter the viscosity of the palm oil to be comparable to diesel oil. This research aims to analyze the influence of NaCl concentration in the water heater to the performance of the palm oil heater system. The study was conducted experiments on existing water heater on the Palm Oil Fuel Heater System. NaCl is added to the water heater with a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%, and be compared with a pure water heater as a reference. From the experiment, known that an increase in NaCl concentration will cause an increase in the boiling point of the water heater, a reduction in heating time, an increase in the output temperature of palm oil. By adding 10% NaCl to the water heater, the heating time will be reduced by 13,6%. However, the addition of this concentration will also cause less optimal heat propagation by conduction from the water heater to palm oil.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126577469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
