The two main parameters needed to produce electrical energy are water flow and head. Water flow depends on the watershed area, rainfall, and land cover, which affects the runoff and infiltration volume. Good land cover has a large infiltration volume so that it can infiltrate rainwater into the ground and become the reserved water to maintain base flow during the dry season. Malabar Micro Hydropower Plant (MHP), Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, was selected as the case study. There are no significant land-use changes in this area resulting in a stable base flow, which allows MHP to work well until now. The base flow can be continuously maintained at a value not less than 3 $m^{3}/s$, the same as the designed discharge of the power plant. The land-use changes are possible as long as the flow is not lower than the minimum base flow. It can be employed by using a high infiltration coefficient of land cover and artificial recharge groundwater techniques..","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"238 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132682129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to improve the performances of the system, ensure a high quality of the Total Harmonic Distortion and extract the maximum power while ensuring unity power factor. Due to the complexity of the tracker mechanism and non-linear nature of the photovoltaic system, the artificial intelligence-based ANFIS method is used instead of the two PI regulation loop for grid currents. The validation and training data of the utilized neuro-fuzzy controller are obtained by simulation of the entire system with the PI controllers calculated for variation of solar irradiance. The simulation study shows that the neuro-fuzzy controller indicates significantly more enhanced performance than that of the PI controller, reveals that the active and reactive power are tracked quickly and accurately for variation of irradiance, guarantee power factor unity and ensuring lower overshoot and better total harmonic distortion (THD).","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134290032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But on the other side, the use of non-linear loads, causing power quality problems in the electric power system so that it becomes an important issue and must be overcome, one of which is Harmonic. Harmonics is a disturbance that occurs in an electric power distribution system due to the distortion of current and voltage waves. In this paper discusses the harmonic phenomenon, harmonic standards and harmonic mitigation technology. The discussed harmonic standards refer to IEEE 519-2014 and IEC 6100-3-2. Due to the large number and variety of methods available, the harmonic mitigation techniques are grouped into 3 categories, including passive harmonic filters, active harmonic filters and hybrid harmonic filters. The use of harmonic filters, among others, is adjusted to the voltage level and conditions of the electric power system. From the study results it is known that to suppress harmonic distortion for levels voltage of V ≤ 1.0 kV using passive harmonic filters and DC chokes, at a distribution level voltage of 1.0 kV < V ≤ 69 kV using a zigzag transformer mounted on the load side of the distribution transformer, at level voltage of 69 kV ≤ 161 kV using a hybrid filter technique. Meanwhile, to reduce harmonics at a level voltage of V> 161 kV by keeping the voltage level of the transformer operating at its nominal voltage.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124409274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, the shape of data trends from observations becomes difficult to know. Therefore, data that contain high irregularity in time series analysis are processed using the data smoothing method. In this study, a dataset of real-life driving tests observation of an electric vehicle is processed using the Simple Moving Average (SMA), Single Exponential Smoothing (SES), and Double Exponential Smoothing (DES) methods. Furthermore, the evaluation of each data smoothing results using Mean Arctangent Absolute Percentage Error (MAAPE). The results of data smoothing show that the lowest MAAPE is 0.252, which is generated through the SES method with data smoothing constant of 0.9. This indicates that SES with data smoothing constant of 0.9 produces data smoothing that is closest to the original data or has the smallest deviation with the original data, but data trends are difficult to know because they still contain high irregularity. Conversely, the data trend is clearly visible by the results of SMA data smoothing with a period constant of 250 with a MAAPE value of 0.793, despite having the greatest deviation with the original data. For the purpose of knowing trends in this study, SMA with a period constant of 250 shows the best results. For related studies, this trend from data smoothing could be used as a standard cycle (driving cycle in certain environments) on components and electric vehicles test.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115681258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are including the introduction of high-remanence rare-earth magnets and the use of different magnet configurations. However, these actions also affect the flow and distribution of the magnetic flux. Under the load condition, the load current will also generate reverse flux. The flux resultant then affects the coil parameters; the significant one is the coil inductance. Since it is influential to the output voltage and output power profiles, the impact study of the permanent magnet settings under load condition is essential. Hence this paper presents the inductance profile study of the LMPG with different magnet configurations. After presenting the initial designs, several magnet settings including the material and configuration were varied. Finite element magnetic simulation and analytical calculations were then performed to obtain the inductance profile of the LPMG. The results show that the inductance value varies with change in load current and magnet position. The different magnet materials (SmCo 30 and N35) do not significantly affect the inductance. Meanwhile, different magnet configuration (radial, axial, halbach) results in different inductance trends.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132365133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PV can generate electrical energy by absorbing sunlight through an extraordinary process. Due to the increased demand for electrical energy, the DC-DC converter is one component of the PV system that is installed to meet these energy needs. The Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) control system is then mounted to monitor the maximum power point close to the characteristics of the PV frame. This paper addressed the subject matter of the MPPT Incremental Conductance (IC) Algorithm using a comparative study of the effects of the Buck-boost and Zeta Converter Circuit Modeling. Both DC-DC converters are designed for a 1 kWp PV network that has been proposed to use a grid-connected PV network with an output voltage above 360 V. Simulations are conducted under Standard Test Condition with various irradiance conditions ranging from 100 to 1000 W/m2 and 25°C temperatures. The result of the modeling shows that the output of the solar panels is consistent with the power characteristics of the changes in irradiance and temperature. The zeta converter has the best performance with 94 % efficiency and high response time compared to the buck-boost converter with only 90% efficiency. Nonetheless, all circuits with MPPT control IC algorithms are still used to maintain output at full efficiency.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134631829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance of the gas stoves when fueled by LPG and pure DME will be compared. The parameters used for the compatibility analysis include heat input, gas consumption, thermal efficiency, and boiling time. The heat input and efficiency of the gas stove were determined according to SNI 8660:2018 with calorific values adjusted for each gas. The result shows that some gas stoves designed for the use of LPG fuel can also operate when using DME fuel. At the same gas input pressure, there is a change in the performance of the gas stove due to the difference in calorific value between the two fuels. Although the efficiency value of the gas stove produced is not significantly different, but the stove using DME fuel takes longer to boil water than when using LPG fuel.","PeriodicalId":367065,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application (ICSEEA)","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124495981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
