Zakrzewski","doi":"10.1002/phbl.20010570726","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1002/phbl.20010570726","url":null,"abstract":"The Project to construct at DESY a linear electron‐positron accelerator TESLA (Tera Electron Volt Energy Superconducting Linear Collider) with integrated synchrotron radiation sources will be briefly described. Such a source — Free Electron Laser (FEL) — will be based on the Self‐Amplified Spontaneous Emission (SASE) from electron beams passing through magnetic devices (undulators). TESLA will thus be a new and important tool for research within the domain of natural sciences ranging from high energy and nuclear physics through the application of laser‐like synchrotron radiation in solid state physics, material sciences, chemistry, biology to medical sciences. Progress in the programme of research and development carried out at the TTF (Tesla Test Facility) on the superconducting cavities will be noted. The first successful operation at the TTF of FEL at the wavelength around 100 nm will be stressed. Dieser Feldbereich wird durch das so genannte Irreversibilitätsfeld Hirr < Hc2 beschränkt. Sowohl Hc2 als auch Hirr sind temperaturabhängig; beide lassen sich durch Einbringen von geeigneten Störstellen (Hc2) bzw. von Haftzentren für Flussschläuche (Hirr) beeinflussen. Die Abbildung zeigt die Hc2(T)und Hirr(T)-Abhängigkeit für eine typische polykristalline MgB2-Probe [4] und für eine speziell behandelte MgB2-Dünnschichtprobe, die in der Gruppe um D. C. Larbalestier an der University of Wisconsin in Madison hergestellt wurde [5]. Die Irreversibilitätslinie Hirr(T) der polykristallinen Probe liegt weit unterhalb des oberen kritischen Feldes, ein für derartige Proben typisches Ergebnis. Damit ist das Irreversibilitätsfeld dieser Probe mit Hirr = 8,5 T bei 10 K deutlich geringer als der Vergleichswert für Nb3Sn (16,5 T bei 10 K). Dass das Potenzial für mögliche Verbesserungen bei MgB2 sehr groß ist, zeigt der Vergleich mit der Dünnschichtprobe.
