In this study, I discuss the causalities that surround the current war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine from different prisms. Various justifications and other indices which provide the likelihood of escalation to a nuclear conflict were touched. Also, I assessed, if at all, there was politics behind the supplies of ‘defensive weapons’ and other military aid to the warring parties. I propose an urgent arms control treaty not only between the United States and Russia but should also include China as the emerged third force, and other minor nuclear powers. Although, the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) are mostly prominent before a complex conflict is transformed into conventional war, thus, this study suggests the roles the CBMs can still play in the current war. As such, the study relies on relevant written sources which make the study qualitative in nature.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122812173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the objective of this study, the researchers attempted to answer these questions: 1- What do the students in the English classroom need to learn? 2- Will the active learning strategies help students promoting their language skills? 3- Will the designed activities help maximizing students' participation and interaction in the classroom? 4- To what extent do active learning strategies affect English learners' performance in the English language? The researchers used the quasi- experimental approach. Two instruments were employed for data collection: a questionnaire besides a pre and post- test. (30) female English majors' students of Arts Faculty-Shamli Branch -University of Hail, served as subjects for the study. The participants were distributed into two groups. The first group represented the control group of (15) students; while the second one represented the experimental one of (15) students. The active learning strategies were implemented in teaching the experimental group, and the traditional teaching method was utilized with the control group. A combination tests out of (25) questions, covered all skills (Reading, listening, writing and speaking.) was designed to be used as a pre and post- test. The data analysis of the post-test results showed that there were statistically significant differences between mean results of the experimental and the control group favoring the experimental group; Thus, the experimental group outperformed the control group. Consequently, the use of the active learning strategies proved to have a positive role and effect on EFL Learners' Motivation, Attitudes, Aptitudes and Skills. In their responses to the questionnaires, they reported a very good and positive attitude towards learning English language through using active learning strategies.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"92 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126129156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been observed that universities and film schools – Christian and Non-Christian alike have joined the league of film production companies, aside from their primary task of teaching and research. This paper discusses Redrawing Boundaries using Regent University’s production, In-Lawfully Yours, as a case. Its scope is limited to Christian universities as film producers. Hence, Regent University is the primary focus. It reflects how well Christian Universities can use their redemptive films to redraw boundaries away from their primary corporate responsibilities to impact the public. This paper submits that In-Lawfully Yours is a well-produced redemptive film by a private Christian university. It shows the emergence of Christian film schools as part of institutions capable of redrawing boundaries. It recommends that governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other relevant stakeholders give the necessary support such universities need.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124219410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The media has been a vital channel for resolving crises in society. The media has been construed as a two-edged sword that can either instigate a crisis or provide an avenue for resolving it. In other words, the influence of the mass media can be both positive and/or negative, depending on the mode and direction of use. Apparently, media influence has increased tremendously in the last decades, but there is no agreement among scholars and researchers on the degree and tenacity of its influence in managing and resolving conflicts and crises in society. The media, by right and duty, must provide citizens with accurate, comprehensive, unbiased, and high-quality information on the causes, effects, and possible resolutions to avert a further deepening of the crisis, which could lead to the destruction of lives, properties, and the economy. Put differently, the media are always known to set agendas for the public to follow; they do this by raising salient and critical issues as they unfold in society and bringing them to the public. The media set an agenda of peace, love, unity, etc. In recent times, Plateau State, especially Jos, has been characterized by one form of crisis or another, which in turn leads to the loss of lives and properties. This research work therefore attempts to examine the relevant role played by the media in resolving the lingering crises in Northern states, particularly Plateau State. In addition, the research examines the way and manner in which the media have been used to manage the crises in Nigeria. The aim of this study is to analyse the role of the media in crisis management in Nigeria. The specific objectives were to establish the media accessibility level and the various types of media coverage; to establish the extent to which media escalated and/or de-escalated violence; and to determine how media could influence selected human factors towards crises. The research utilized both primary and secondary source materials. Other reference materials, such as newspapers, the internet, and journals, were used to gather information about the activities carried out by the media in times of crisis. The research concludes that the media have a crucial role to play in de-escalating crises.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114702965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The low performance of the stock market has been attributed to so many factors, ranging from financial, macroeconomic to political and institutional. Hence, the study examined the relationship between financial indicators and stock market performance, using the econometric analytical technique. Annual time series data sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigerian Stock Exchange were employed. Stock market performance was measured by all-share index while financial indicators were represented by stock market profitability, liquidity and efficiency. The bound testing and Autoregressive Distributed Lag model estimation techniques were employed for the analysis. It was revealed that a long run relationship exists among the variables in the estimated model. A positive relationship exists between market profitability, liquidity, efficiency and stock market performance in Nigeria with coefficients of 58.98, 879.58 and5152.51, respectively. The implication of the findings is that market profitability, market liquidity and market efficiency have positive impact on stock market performance in Nigeria. Hence, the study recommends that; there is need for implementing policy such as good corporate governance that will maximize profit for investors in the market, make it attractive and hence deepen the Nigerian stock exchange market; the provision of windows for firms to raise cash through issuance of new shares, debentures, loans and deposits, when needed and enhance the ability of the firms to convert assets to cash to pay its current liabilities and its debt capacity;while a high trading volume should be maintained to enhance efficiency of the Nigerian capital market.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131915895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper focuses on the issue of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, exploring the concept of durable solutions, the importance of comprehensive assessments, and the necessity of regular reviews in addressing their plight. The concept of durable solutions forms the cornerstone of addressing displacement crises, aiming to provide sustainable outcomes for IDPs. This study examines the three recognized durable solutions: voluntary return, local integration, and resettlement, and analyzes their applicability in the Nigerian context. It emphasizes the need for a holistic approach that considers socio-economic factors, security conditions, and the protection of IDPs' rights. Comprehensive assessments play a vital role in understanding the needs and vulnerabilities of IDPs, facilitating informed decision-making and resource allocation. This study highlights the importance of conducting thorough assessments, including demographic data, living conditions, access to basic services, and psychosocial support. It emphasizes the role of government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and research institutions in undertaking these assessments to guide effective interventions. Regular reviews of displacement situations are crucial to monitor progress, identify gaps, and adapt strategies accordingly. This study emphasizes the significance of periodic evaluations of policies, programs, and interventions aimed at addressing internal displacement in Nigeria. It underscores the importance of stakeholder involvement, including IDPs themselves, in these review processes to ensure their perspectives are considered and their voices heard. Furthermore, the work acknowledges the challenges inherent in addressing the plight of IDPs in Nigeria, including limited resources, security concerns, and the complexity of the underlying causes of displacement. It emphasizes the need for a coordinated and multi-stakeholder approach, involving the government, humanitarian actors, civil society, and the international community, to achieve durable solutions for IDPs.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115938547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Underlining is used to create two completely different con/texts that break into thirty-two articulations, thus creating a decentralized work that allows readers the freedom of composition and invites an infinite number of readings. The poet’s contravention of poetry conventions is exemplified in innovating a unique print, avoiding meter, mixing genres, arranging words in an unusual manner, shifting point of view, deviating at the phonological, graphological, lexical, syntactic and discourse levels, crossing cultures and deferring meaning. Through its formal properties, which radically contravene established conventions of poetry writing, Sīrat al-Mā’ represents a postmodern view of the world as senseless, disordered, and fragmented. In this paper, an attempt is made to listen visually to the form and structure of this open work and reflect on its transdisciplinary nature that inextricably mixes the auditory and the visual.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130829505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study therefore investigated the impact of policy recommendations contained in the IMF stabilization Programme on the development of Nigeria’s external sector. In specific terms, the study examined the impact of fiscal deficit, exchange rate, foreign direct investment (FDI), degree of trade openness, interest rate and bank credit to the domestic economy on two indicators of external sector development namely; balance of payments (BOPs) and external reserves. A variety of analystical techniques including Phillips-Perron unit root test, autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model, error correction model (ECM) and Granger causality test was applied on annual time-series data from 1986 to 2021. The findings indicated that fiscal deficit has significant negative impact on balance of payments while exchange rate and interest rate have insignificant negative impact on BOPs. Also, degree of trade openness has significant positive impact on BOPs while FDI and bank credit to the domestic economy have insignificant positive impact on BOPs performance. Similarly, fiscal deficit, exchange rate and interest rate have insignificant negative impact on external reserves while foreign direct investment, degree of trade openness and bank credit to the domestic economy have insignificant positive impact on external reserves. In line with the IMF recommendations, the study recommended that the Nigerian government should reduce the size of its fiscal deficit; encourage the inflow of FDI and open up the economy to international trade. However, against the IMF recommendations, the study recommended that a managed free floating exchange rate policy should be adopted while the interest rate should be lowered. It is also recommended that bank credit to the private sector should be expanded.","PeriodicalId":364803,"journal":{"name":"Global Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129934645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
