This herd benefits from this species, which is the only food refuge for local and huge herds from our Saharan provinces. This situation has raised alarm bells in favour of the argan tree and an awareness not only for its protection as a natural heritage, but also as an economic resource to be rehabilitated. Our study is part of the protection of argan trees and aims to study the use of hydroponic technologies that are proving particularly important in arid and semi-arid regions. We have conducted this research on the use of hydroponic fodder and on the zootechnical performance of goats. It carried out in the region of Imssouane (Agadir Idaoutanane Prefecture) and consists in assessing the effect of the introduction of hydroponic fodder into the food ration and growth performance of the goat herd. To do this, lots of 78 goats were followed during a feeding test over a 6-month period. This follow-up reveals that hydroponic barley is a serious alternative for feeding goats in the region and contributes to significantly improving the zootechnical performance of the goat herd","PeriodicalId":364314,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Bioresearch","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131111266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents data on crop protection interventions against wildlife damage on crops around Kibale National Park (KNP), western Uganda. Through purposive sampling 375 crop farmers bordering KNP owning gardens within 1-kilometer distance from the park boundary were selected to participate in the study by answering a household questionnaire on crop protection interventions against wildlife damage. Results reveal that farmers around KNP were involved in protecting their crops against wildlife damage through guarding (63%), chasing wild animals from their gardens (12%), drumming (9%), lighting fire at night to scare away elephants (6%), and growing buffer crops such as tea (3%). Digging trenches, planting Mauritius thorns, setting up beehive fences and elephant deterrent boards were the major protected-area initiated crop protection interventions against wild animal crop damage around KNP. KNP management had dug trenches of up to 84 km mainly to deter elephant crop depredation. A total of 1,214 beehives were distributed to farmers in eleven sub-counties where crop damage was most reported. The beehives are set up in a line fences along the park boundary to stop elephants from crossing. Farmers in parishes where beehives were set up in form of fence lines and fully colonized reported less damage on their crops by elephants and increasing damage were reported in areas where beehive along the beehive fence lines was not colonized or broken down by poachers. Routine maintenance of trenches was reported to reduce rates of incidences of wild animals crossing the park boundary and attack crops in the gardens. Expanding trench networks and supplying more beehives to create beehive fence lines is recommended as effective measures to deter farmers' crops damage by certain wildlife species around Kibale National Park.","PeriodicalId":364314,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Bioresearch","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114814615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research examines the contribution of producers' organizations to the realization of socio-community infrastructure in the commune of Banikoara. The methodological approach adopted is based on documentary research, field surveys, data processing and analysis of results using the SWOT model. Within the framework of this research, 250 people were surveyed. The research revealed that the commune of Banikoara has 228 producer organizations spread throughout the commune. These producer organizations mobilize funds for the construction of socio-community infrastructure. 98% of the socio-community infrastructure built in the municipality of Banikoara is financed by producers' organizations. However, these producers' organizations face difficulties that limit their contribution to the construction of socio-community infrastructure. These difficulties include a lack of technical supervision, poor governance, and abandonment or failure to carry out the work. Faced with this situation, it is important to work on the organization of other agricultural sectors. Similarly, the communal authorities must commit to working in symbiosis with producers and help them achieve their goals.","PeriodicalId":364314,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Bioresearch","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116922424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To study the unique agronomic traits possessed in husk, cob, and pericarp in corn varieties with a low kernel moisture content at harvest, two corn varieties, Zhengdan 958 and Xianyu 335, that have different dehydration characteristics were used as test materials in this project. The effects of husk, cob and pericarp on kernel moisture content during the grain-filling process were studied in the planting area of Heilongjiang province in Northeast China. The results showed that husk moisture content, cob moisture content, and ears shank length each had an extremely significantly positive correlation with kernel moisture content (P<0.01); pericarp thickness had a significantly positive correlation with kernel moisture content (P<0.05); and stomatal perimeter had a negative correlation with kernel moisture content. During the grain-filling stage, Xianyu 335, which has a low kernel moisture content at harvest, has a low moisture content in husk and cob, long ears shank, large stomata perimeter in the husk, and thin pericarp at the late grainfilling stage. Ears shank length, husk stomatal morphology and pericarp thickness could also be used as reference indices in the selection and breeding of corn varieties with fast kernel dehydration and low moisture content during corn maturation and harvest.","PeriodicalId":364314,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and Bioresearch","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125786624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A reliable, accurate and portable small scale rainfall simulator is required for runoff, infiltration, sediment generation and erosion studies. And this has been used extensively to gather runoff, infiltration and erosion data in both laboratory and field experiments. This study was conducted to determine rainfall intensity, rainfall drop sizes and erosivity. An existing rainfall simulator was modified to be easily assembled, transported and maintained as well as to create a variety of rainfall regimes. Performance evaluation of the modified rainfall simulator was carried out with 10 trials to determine the intensity of rainfall, drop sizes and erosivity. Correlations were drawn out between the data of the simulated rainfall and that of the natural rainfall data. The results show that rainfall amount, intensity and kinetic energy are the main variables that influence rainfall erosivity index at 99% confidence level. The erosivity index of both simulated rainfall and natural rainfall are 36395.40JM-2mmhr-1 and 34792.51JM-2mmhr-1, respectively. The results of regression analysis of the simulated and natural rainfall show the influence of intensity and amount of rainfall on erosivity index. The linear regression models of simulated and natural rainfall show strong influence to varying degrees of (R2-values) which are 0.949, 0.190, 0.949 and 0.955, respectively. It was concluded that the modified rainfall simulator is suitable to simulate and reproduce natural rainfall characteristics such as rain drop size, intensity, kinetic energy and erosivity. The modified rainfall simulator is a portable type which can be easily assembled, maintained, transported and it can also be used in both laboratory and field experiments for irrigation, infiltration, runoff, sediment and erosion control studies.
