We design four sets of metamers with a correlated colour temperature of 4000K and an illuminance of 750lux. The light source was simulated in the LED cube. The subjects with convenience sampling observed the visual effects, including look delicious, colourful, and colour rendering of guava under metamerism, then analysed its relationship with CRI and CQS. The results showed that colour rendering and visual effects are not a positive relationship, and the effect of CQS is closer to the visual effects of the subjects. The results of this study can be used as a reference for light source lighting designers as a basis for improving lighting conditions. In the future, we can collect databases for the different objects with an optimized multi-spectral light source.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130915245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since a full-fledged study of the properties of experimental samples of mercury lamps is impossible without a reliable method of photometric measurements, and for ozone lamps such a technique, taking into account the features of the object of study, has not yet been proposed, its development and testing is the main task of this work. Based on the analysis of existing techniques, a technique for measuring the fluxes of the 185 and 254 nm lines of a low-pressure mercury lamp is proposed, taking into account the change in the nature of the spatial distribution of radiation during operation, without directly measuring the RIC. The method proposed by the author for measuring the fluxes of ozonizing and bactericidal radiation can be used as the basis for the development of an automated system for measuring parameters and monitoring the quality of gas-discharge UV radiation sources.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130273686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the physical gloss does not always match the perceptual gloss. Thus, we analysed the relationship between physical features and perceptual gloss by measuring the physical properties of object surfaces, including physical gloss. For the experiment, we prepared 127 samples of flat objects that consisted of three materials: paper, resin, and metal plating. Perceptual gloss was visually evaluated using a magnitude estimation method. Plural measurements were conducted to obtain physical features such as gloss unit, haze, distinctness of image (DOI), luminance image features, and transmittance of the samples. Then, we constructed a prediction model of perceptual gloss using these physical features and perceptual gloss through multiple regression analysis. As a result, the prediction accuracy was improved by combining multiple physical quantities with simple regression, using only a gloss unit.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125172370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integrating daylight with electrical lighting can serve as a means to lessen electricity costs for buildings. Geographic location and weather conditions facilitate most of the areas of Nepal to receive on average 12 hours of daylight and have huge energy-saving potential. However, the integration of daylight has not been admitted in the building code of Nepal. Moreover, contemporary architectural design lacks employment of techniques illustrated by illumination engineering to integrate daylight. This study analyses the plausibility and benefits of integrating daylight with electric light for a typical commercial building of Nepal employing the DIALux model and simulation. Simulation integrating energy-efficient electric light and daylight was done to observe illumination levels and light power density. For daylight performance, year-round conditions were observed for three different sky types. Modification of building architecture to integrate daylighting components was also studied. In the later part of the study, analysis was done to observe energy-saving potential and financial benefits. Results designated the plausibility of blending daylight with electrical lighting in the building for all-sky conditions. Extensive energy thrift was observed and was higher with added daylight components. Recommendations of the study to blend light sources and incorporation of daylight components are attainable with current technology and trend in Nepal with accompanying benefits of energy-saving, reduced operation, and reduced maintenance cost.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130713563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Manufactured headlights need to be measured for light distribution characteristic to assure their quality. However, the conventional method requires a lot of measurement time and a large space. As a result, problems arise where light distribution measurement cannot be completed in time for headlight production. We propose a measurement method for complex light distribution characteristic based on light fields to solve this problem. Our method is to measure the light intensity of planes at a certain range distance from the light source and then estimate the light distribution characteristic of a light source. This method would enable the measurement of the light distribution characteristic in a narrower range and in a shorter time than the conventional method.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115360841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two experiments probed the trade-off between energy efficiency and colour quality. Experiment 1 required participants to simultaneously view pairs of light sources differing in colour fidelity, at either a higher (346 lx) or lower (277 lx) illuminance. Participants performed a timed reading task and judged the colour appearance of the pair. There were no effects of illuminance, but larger colour fidelity differences between the light sources in the pair correlated with lower appearance judgements. Experiment 2 simulated the effect of light sources on defined reflectance spectra. The results showed that improvements of colour fidelity above what is often considered satisfactory can yield more satisfying illumination while using the same amount of power.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116198487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The facility is based on a laser-fed reference source, of which the radiance can be modulated with an acousto-optic modulator (AOM). A system of photodiodes, amplifiers, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is used to sample the temporally modulated radiance of the source. With the facility a TLM photometer was calibrated for display contrast ratio RMS (root mean square) with an absolute combined standard uncertainty of 0,037 %. In addition, the facility has been characterised with the aim of measuring flicker and stroboscopic effect, considering the Ecodesign ‘Single Lighting Regulation’. The frequency response of the facility shows to be sufficient to accommodate measurements of flicker and the stroboscopic effect.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"613 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116469713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These sites are recognised globally and are of immense importance to the local and worldwide audience. The majority were constructed during the 15th to 18th century and were designed to incorporate oil or fat-based wick lamps for lighting. The intervention of modern electric lighting in these structures should be carried out without conceding cultural values, visual perception, and traditional outlook. However, in most sites, there are no lighting or unscientific lighting interventions which are inappropriate, unsurpassed, exaggerated, and unpleasant. The light source spectrum is an essential factor in enhancing the natural appearance, increasing luminance, reducing degradation of artefacts by photochemical action, and reducing power consumption. The study aims to characterise the white light spectrum for its appropriateness to enhance the optical parameters by observing the spectral reflectance of the building materials of these sites. The experiment uses RGB tunes LED light source to obtain white light of different SPD and CCT. Building materials from Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Tripureshwor Mahadev temple and light SPD with CCT in the range of 1735 to 7669 K were used for the study. The study thus makes recommendations for an appropriate spectrum of light sources for Nepal’s heritage sites and monuments based on the experimental findings.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132305940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to standards, there are diverse methods that can assist in understanding the light quality of an environment and one such mechanism is monitoring protocols. The aim of this paper is to investigate the lighting quality in office buildings with good integrated design and/or daylighting design in Brazilian context, combining monitoring protocol and user opinion. Two office buildings were evaluated: Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) in Brasília and the Support Centre for Technological Development of the University of Brasilia (CDT/UnB). Both case study shows good results to photometry parameters as illuminance average, directionality, quality of view out and melanopic values. The opinions of users, in general, are positive and the aligning with on-site measurements.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125330090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite evidence demonstrating the critical role of the hospital’s luminous environment in responding to occupants’ requirements and needs, and the importance of engaging with the patient experience to improve the quality of patient care, to date, no studies have articulated approaches to study conflicting occupants’ needs for lighting in context. This paper presents a semi-systematic literature review of disciplinary approaches to investigate quality lighting conditions in hospitals and subjective impressions of occupants. Research articles from the clinical, built environment, and lighting fields were selected and evaluated. The review outlined appropriate physical (i.e., photometric) and self-report (e.g., preferences) approaches for data collection in context and potential articulations between them. Mixed data collection and data analysis techniques are deemed essential to articulate lighting design strategies engaging with the requirements of hospital occupants on a 24-hour basis.","PeriodicalId":363368,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Conference CIE 2021","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124336763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
