The book is packed full of convincing arguments about the impact of numeracy and innumeracy on people's decisions and life outcomes, piles of supporting evidence and relevant references, and detailed expositions of multitudes of research results. Thus, it can serve the motivated reader well as a comprehensive literature review of psychologically oriented research on numeracy and decision-making.

Under the classical approach, there is no probability associated with a parameter, and the meaning of confidence intervals can be misconstrued by inexperienced students. With Bayesian statistics, one can find the posterior probability distribution of an unknown parameter, and state the probability of vaccine efficacy rate, which makes the communication of uncertainty more flexible. We use a hypothetical example and a real baseball example to guide readers to learn the beta-binomial model before analyzing the clinical trial data. This note is designed to be accessible for lower-level college students with elementary statistics and elementary algebra skills.

Social Workers Count: Numbers and Social Issues. 2019. New York: Oxford University Press. 223 pp. ISBN 978-019046713-5\u0000The numeracy movement, although largely birthed within the mathematics community, is an outside-the-box endeavor which has always sought to break down or at least transgress traditional disciplinary boundaries. Michael Anthony Lewis’s book is a testament that this effort is succeeding. Lewis is a social worker and sociologist with an impressive resume, author of Economics for Social Workers, co-editor of The Ethics and Economics of the Basic Income Guarantee, and member of the faculty at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and the City University of New York Graduate Center. Although explicitly targeted to social work students and professionals, the nine chapters here provide a good quantitative literacy education accessible to the general public and include a great many of the topics one would find in a "standard" quantitative literacy text written by a mathematician. The examples, despite being rooted in social work, are interesting and relevant to those outside that discipline, and speak to Lewis’s breadth of knowledge and the skill of being able to make connections between different types of knowledge and evidence that is inherent in being a numerate person.

The distance education system is one of the solutions to overcome difficulties in face-to-face learning with the existence of social distancing rules which are a major obstacle today. Mobile Learning ( M-Learning) is a distyance paradigm utilizing mobile technology and devices which are predicted to experience rapid and potential development along with the development of mobile technologiitself. M-Learning is a distance leaning medium that is easy and often used. This study aims to see the effectiveness of derivative learning using M-Learning media in terms of student learning outcomes. The research model used in this study was a quasi experiment using a one group pretest postest design. The research sample was students in semester 2 who took calculus courses. The sample data were processed by descriptive analysis and test the difference in the average learning outcomes. The results showed that calculus courses with derivative materials using M-Learning media were quite effective when viewed from the student learning outcomes. Student learning outcomes after lecturing using M-Learning are higher than student learning outcomes before lecturing using M-Learning. \u0000Abstrak \u0000Sistem pendidikan dihadapkan dengan situasi yang menuntut para pengajar untuk dapat menguasai media pembelajaran jarak jauh, seperti pada masa wabah pandemi Covid-19 ini. The other important thing to consider in developing a student's performance is a mathematical disposition. Project Based Learning (PjBL) is a technique to make sure students become productive, since they will be working in a project learning activities that makes it more interesting and real so that students are able to develop mathematical performance and disposition. This study aims to analyze the development of the student's performance in completing the task groups and individuals as well as the disposition of its mathematical through the application of the model PjBL. The data were collected through observation, interviews and questionnaires. Research result, it is known that 1) student develops their performance in completing a task group to carry out all stages of the completion of the task. 2) Student develops their performance in completing individual tasks to carry out all stages of the completion of the task. 3) Student’s mathematical disposition after learning with PjBL experiencing growth than before the application of the model, particularly on indicators of interest and curiosity.
