The primary objectives of this study are to categorize the various linguistic landscape elements present in Indonesian EFL textbooks and provide a comprehensive description of the characteristics of these linguistic landscapes. The analysis was conducted through a descriptive qualitative methodology, focusing on linguistic landscape items within EFL textbooks used in Grades I, II, IV, and V, comprising a total of 116 images. These items encompassed monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual components. Specifically, 100 images featured English-only elements, establishing English as the dominant language in these instances, while 3 images were exclusively in Bahasa Indonesia, 1 in Arabic, and 12 incorporated both English and Indonesian. Including these linguistic elements is intended to familiarize students with English sentence structures in the textbooks, as English holds a prominent status as an international language.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139288711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Schools provide a learning management system (LMS) to enhance the effectiveness of the learning process. Also, online platforms become popular among students, including online collaboration platforms like the Google document. The teaching method now could be more varied and flexible. This research focused on finding the impact of the flipped classroom method and collaborative writing through Google documents on students' active classroom participation and writing quality. The quasi-experimental study was designed to discover the significance of the impact in this case. Fifteen participants were given an IELTS writing pre-test and post-test at the beginning and the last meeting, and through the implementation of the method, the students were divided into five groups to write an essay collaboratively. The discussion and group work were applied during the classroom to observe active learning. The finding shows a significant impact on students' writing quality, especially the writing structure and coherence, and a positive impact on students' active learning concerning the students' initiative to contribute to the group work.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139287823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The title of professor is one of the incentives that help improve the quality of education through research activities. Recently, Cambodia began awarding professorships to state university lecturers and some of those working at the higher education level. This award is based on the requirements of the person concerned, such as research articles, books, and scientific documents that the individual has published. This research reviews the benefits of granting a professorship, the challenges of unethical research practices, and the balance of professorships. This study found some benefits, challenges, and things that must be done to balance the professorship. The study also recommends several ideas for improving the future of professorships in Cambodia.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"71 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139317817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research method used is quantitative, utilizing secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province and relevant literature. The variables analyzed include Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), population size, provincial minimum wage, education level, and labor absorption. The research findings indicate that GRDP is not intervened by labor absorption concerning unemployment. The population size indirectly influences unemployment, with labor absorption as an intervening variable. Provincial minimum wage and education level directly affect unemployment without being intervened by labor absorption. From an Islamic perspective, balancing these labor factors to reduce unemployment and achieve socio-economic justice in North Sumatra Province is important. These conclusions have several important implications. First, there needs to be attention given to regional economic growth to impact labor absorption positively. Second, wise population management is crucial to optimize job availability. Third, provincial minimum wage and education level play a significant role in reducing unemployment. Fourth, applying Islamic values in managing labor, including ethical and just aspects, is important. These implications are expected to provide guidance and recommendations for the government and stakeholders in addressing unemployment issues in North Sumatra Province.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139356546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As for professional development, Cambodian education is plagued by a lack of well-trained teachers due to insufficient pedagogical instruction within CPD as well as a lack of commitment by teachers. This study applied quantitative research; data were collected by means of the purposive sampling method with descriptive statistical analysis. Fifty Cambodian EFL teachers teaching three private schools in Kandal province were selected. The findings indicated that EFL teachers acknowledged that CPD is crucial and effective to their professional teaching career when they are more engaged in CPD efficiently. The change in perspectives for Cambodian EFL teachers on CPD has been satisfactorily proven to be fruitful and achievable. Future studies could explore more factors influencing EFL teachers' motivation for Continuing Professional Development activities.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139356458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that explores the quality of learning the Al-Qur’an Hadits and implementing religious character at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 East Lampung: data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using the inductive method according to Miles & Huberman, namely by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The data analysis results show that the quality improvement strategy in learning Al-Qur’an Hadits at MAN 1 East Lampung consists of a planning process with work meetings determining the curriculum while making RPP and syllabus. The organizing process is described by dividing teaching tasks, compiling learning schedules, and carrying out coordination. The learning process applies a learning system with an introductory session and implementation of core learning. In comparison, the evaluation process is divided into a written assessment using numbers and included in the school report card, as well as an oral assessment carried out accidentally by the policies of each teacher. Forming the students’ religious character through learning the Al-Qur’an Hadits becomes a quality standard that refers to the goals of national education in general, namely to create a capable and noble generation.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"451 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124588464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Islamic boarding school education in Indonesia had existed before independence, and until now, it still exists with various pesantren models. One of the highlights is the model of a tourist boarding school in Sananrejo Village, Turen District, Malang Regency, which has aroused the author's interest in conducting this research. This research aims to describe the Islamic tourism boarding school model in the Salafiah Bihaaru Bahri Asali Fadlaailir Rahmah Islamic Boarding School. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. Then the data were analyzed using inductive qualitative data analysis through three stages simultaneously: reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study revealed that the Bi Ba'a Fadlrah Islamic boarding school is a salaf Islamic boarding school that only teaches religious material and does not open formal schools. The material taught is more on Sufism so that students become individuals who are good at being grateful, sincere, pleased, and qana'ah. Sharia tourism activities are open every day with a full 24-hour duration. Every day visitors reach tens of thousands, and the quietest is around three thousand, coming from various regions. Visitors are not charged an entrance ticket. Inside the pesantren is a shopping area in the form of culinary and souvenirs at affordable prices.","PeriodicalId":361366,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal As-Salam","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131813830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
