In this paper, a link budget prediction tool for analyzing and comparing predicted and measured C/N and Eb/N0 using a typical link margin and transmission availability been developed using Matlab. A study was conducted in ASTRO's uplink station facility in Cyberjaya on 13.2 m and 0.6 m downlink antenna. It was shown that the C/N and Eb/N0 measured value for both antennas were about ± 3 dB as compared to predicted values. The link margin for both values was found sufficient in the worst case condition due to signal attenuation. For 13.2 m antenna, C/N's link margin is 12 dB and Eb/N0's link margin is 8.1 dB while for 0.6 m, C/N's link margin is 3.5 dB and Eb{/N{in0's link margin is 5.8 dB. The total transmission availability conforms to the standard which was promised to their customer with more than 99.7% availability.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127450930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are priority pollutants in the environment where anthropogenic sources such as petroleum are studied. Chemical characterization of deposited PAH in peninsular Malaysia showed that compounds resulting from combustion contribute more to atmospherically transported compounds than do un-combusted materials, which usually follow the lateral transport, local oil discharge and in-situ natural production. The composition and characterization of PAH demonstrated a higher abundance of parent compounds than of alkyl substitutes. These include pyrene, benzo(e)pyrene, benzo(a)pyrene and benzo(k)fluorenthene. Parent compounds represent a higher proportion of combusted organic materials as well as of petroleum that transfers via atmospheric movement rather than laterally via, for example, rivers and run-off discharges. Diagnostic chemical ratios of chemical compounds such as phenantherene to antheracene and fluorenthene to pyrene showed that combusted materials are dominant that are transferred by atmosphere movement, either over short or long distances, in the studied area.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127571337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This proposed Fuzzy Variable Structure Control (FVSC) approach combines the power of approximate reasoning of FLC with the switching synthesis used in VSC. A model of satellite is used in this work to ensure the application of FVSC to control and stabilize a micro satellite in space. First the proposed scheme is applied to single axis and then extended to three axis control. The simulation results indicate that the FVSC can reduce the response time and the performances with noise also verify that FVSC can stabilize the micro satellite system even subjected to various types of input signal. In this paper, a design of compact multiband VHF antenna for a transient radio telescope system is proposed. The multiband has been achieved by combining V-shape half-wavelength dipole, traps and parasitic elements. Return losses of about −12.45 dB, −25.15 dB and −29.42 dB are obtained at three different frequencies, where the maximum gains are achieved at zenith direction for all operating frequencies. The proposed antenna is suitable to be used in a transient radio telescope which is operated in urban centers.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115681697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The generation and propagation mechanisms of equatorial Pc3 pulsations are not yet well understood. Considering that the Philippines is located in the equatorial region, we studied the characteristics of equatorial Pc3 pulsations in the H component (H) and D component (D) using the data obtained from Circum-pan Pacific Magnetometer Network (CPMN) stations. The results show that equatorial Pc3 amplitudes at Dip latitudes from −0.65° to 6.79° are dependent on local time and season. The dayside Pc3 showed peak amplitude around noontime. Although Pc4 (H) amplitudes at DAV station (Dip latitude = −0.65°) showed the equatorial enhancement, Pc3 (H) amplitudes at DAV did not exhibit such enhancement. Furthermore, DAV's Pc3 (H) showed a lower correlation with the equatorial conductivity and equatorial electrojet when compared with Pc4 (H). Based on these results, we conclude that the equatorial Pc3 must be from the upstream region.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129837947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An analysis of the design of a single-layered microstrip antenna comprising a single patch on the top layer with slots on the radiating edges to obtain dual-band RFID reader operation at free ISM bands of 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz is presented in this letter. The antenna has a compact appearance and with the help of single microstrip feed line the radiating patch has a dimension of 19mm× 29mm. A good impedance bandwidth of 115MHz has been achieved form 2.395GHz to 2.50GHz for the lower band, while the upper band covers 600MHz (from 5.40GHz to 6.00GHz). The proposed antenna shows stable radiation characteristics for the frequencies of interest. Furthermore, an extensive parametric study was performed to realize the relationship between the resonance frequencies in the two bands and different parameters which is helpful for advancement of the antenna design.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122716793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The GPS measurements of IGS and IMO network were used to create TEC maps. The time resolution of TEC maps is about 1 hour. The TEC maps show that the maximum TEC value over SYOG is at 1000 UT (1300 LT) while in ARHO is at 1300 UT (UT = LT). March 2007, when it was summer in the southern polar region, the TEC value over SYOG range was higher by 3 TECU than ARHO, which was experiencing winter during that time. This has proved the role of sun in the TEC distribution with photoionization process. The measurements of the TEC variation obtained from GPS during different months at both hemispheres showed symmetry in the median TEC at the conjugate points.","PeriodicalId":360685,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Space Science and Communication","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131731969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
