However, the data used for the prediction are cumulative energy data, which reveal the activities of consumers and not individual consumer, on the distribution power network. Individual consumer data is essential for real time prediction, monitoring and detect of electricity theft. A new approach of monitoring individual consumer based on consumer load prediction using nonlinear autoregressive with eXogenous input (NARX) network is considered in this study. One month average energy consumption data acquired from consumer load prototype developed was used. Consequently, 5-minute step ahead load prediction was achieved. The NARX architecture was based on nine hidden neurons and two tapped delay and the network trained using Bayesian regulation backpropagation technique. The data set contains a total of 8928 data points representing energy consumed at five minute interval for one month. The data was divided into two sets at ratio 70:30 for training and validation, respectively. The training data equals 6206 while the validation data is 2722. MATLAB environment was used for the processing of the data. As such, different application required different signal processing approach of radio system. So, a highly reconfigurable radio system is on great demand as the traditional fixed and embedded radio system are not viable to cater the needs for frequently change requirements of wireless communication. A software defined radio or better known as an SDR, is a software-based radio platform that offers flexibility to deliver the highly reconfigurable system requirements. This approach allows a different type of communication system requirements such as standard, protocol, or signal processing method, to be deployed by using the same set of hardware and software such as USRP and GNU Radio respectively. For researchers, this approach has opened the door to extend their studies in simulation domain into experimental domain. However, the realization of SDR concept is inherently limited by the analog components of the hardware being used. Despite that, the implementation of SDR is still new yet progressing, thus, this paper intends to provide an insight about its viability as a high re-configurable platform for communication system. The antenna is designed to meet five frequency bands which are 0.9GHz, 1.8GHz, 2.1GHz, 2.45GHz and 2.8GHz. The microstrip patch antenna was designed to operate as dual band and a capital L-slot was introduced to design as triple band antenna. Subsequently by adding small l-slots enhanced antenna characteristics to quad band and quintuple bands. The approach is simple and the design of quintuple band antenna consists of a microstrip patch antenna with triple slots inserted on top of the radiating patch. The antenna is designed and simulated using CST Microwave studio. The proposed antenna was fabricated and tested using vector network analyzer. An AMC is used as parasitic patches that are placed in two conditions at a frequency of 70 GHz. The first condition is the parasitic AMC patches are that placed closely to the antenna feed line and the second condition is the parasitic AMC patches that are placed at the center of the antenna patches. Details of the AMC, and array antenna design are explained, and the simulation results collected with a comparison to an antenna array without parasitic AMC patches are presented. It is observed that the gain of both conditions are increased by 4.4 % and 5.8 %, respectively, compared to the antenna array without parasitic AMC patches. The bandwidth of the first condition is enhanced by 20 % compared to the second condition and antenna without parasitic AMC patches. The sidelobe of the second condition is larger than the first condition and antenna without parasitic AMC patches. Massive MIMO where Base Station is equipped with orders of magnitude more antennas have shown over 10 times spectral efficiency increase over MIMO with simpler signal processing algorithms. Massive MIMO has benefits of enhanced capacity, spectral and energy efficiency and it can be built by using low cost and low power components. Despite its potential benefits, this paper also summarizes some challenges faced by massive MIMO such as antenna spatial correlation and mutual coupling as well as non-linear hardware impairments. The purpose of using 3D printing is a way to reduce cost and time in fabrication of the antenna. By introducing a new material to the subject which is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) as the substrate of the antenna, the cost can be greatly reduced. Furthermore, a coaxial probe feed is used and it is said to be easy to fabricate, matched and has low spurious radiation. The feeding method that has been used in this research is a coaxial line feed where the inner conductor of the coax is connected to the patch meanwhile the conductor is connected to the ground. This antenna is designed on an ABS substrate with εr = 2.74 and it has a loss tangent of 0.007. The thickness is said to be 3.25 mm. In addition to that, it has the return loss (S11) of 24.3 dB at 2.34 GHz. The whole designation of the antenna is by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. The sensors selected can measure the sleep pattern and selected vital signals. This particular sensor was preferred as a result of its simplicity in integration, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. The suggested work is shown to be in the form of embedded sensors integrated in the bedroom. An alarm system has also been included in the bedroom design to assist the elderly to request for help during an emergency situation. Bed sensors are installed under the bed sheets to detect the sleeping pattern of the elderly person. Furthermore, humidity and ambient temperature sensors are also implemented in the design to constantly monitor their vital health conditions. Rectangular stub is inserted at each end of fractal Koch structure for size reduction purposes. The dimension of conventional series iteration log periodic fractal Koch antenna (LPFKA) can be reduced by 18.24% with the addition of rectangular stub. The proposed antenna has a dimension of 285 mm x 245 mm deployed on FR-4 Epoxy dielectric substrate with relative permittivity of 4.7 and thickness of 1.6 mm. This antenna was designed to operate from 0.47 GHz to 0.79 GHz which focuses on Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Television White Space (TVWS) band applications. According to the simulation result, the proposed antenna achieves stable radiation patterns throughout the operating frequency band with the gains varies from 5.64 dBi to 6.7 dBi. It is modeled as a lowcost and feasible radar remote sensor for measuring particular moving target's range and velocity. It operates at ISM band with a center frequency of 2.4GHz, transmit power of approximately 11.3dBm and 52MHz transmit signal bandwidth. The radar also employs linear FM waveform, bistatic antenna system, and Doppler mode operation. The radar hardware architecture is built by assembling off-shelf electronic devices and tested towards slow moving target in a Microwave Laboratory. The target that is used to evaluate and analyze the radar performance is a human body which moves at different speeds over time. The analysis demonstrates that the proposed radar system capable of detecting and measuring the target's velocity and range. This technique is divided into main sections: transmitter and receiver. The transmitter is employed FSM (Frame Skipping Mechanism) to drop/skip similar frames from video sequence to reduce the amount of frames that need to be transferred over the network. This method specified frames to-be-kipped according to motion estimation between every neighboring frame. After that, re-encode the remaining video frames, and sent it to the receiver. The receiver employed RFI (Reconstructing video-Frames Interpolation) to rebuild the frames that were dropped in the transmitter side. The motion compensated interpolation of the key-frame (remaining frame) is used to reconstruct video frames back. A unified design of frame-skipping and interpolation mechanism are made for incrementing and improving compression process efficiency that have not considered in the previous works.
