Transportation has been identified as the key area in Malaysia's government transformation programme. In Malaysia, many people still choose to use their own transport compared to public transport to travel. For efficient public transport service such as bus, real-time tracking/monitoring must be available apart from their fixed schedule. The objective of this project is to develop a low cost real-time IIUM bus on campus monitoring system. IIUM shuttle bus monitoring has been chosen as a pilot study which reflects the bigger picture of Malaysia's bus system. In IIUM, students need to wait for the bus without any clue and this is such a waste of time. Thus, IIUM bus tracking system is proposed in this project where waiting time can be improved. Users can track the exact location of the bus therefore they can have better plan for their journey. Global positioning system technology has been used to send and receive the coordinate data to the server. A web server application has been developed to integrate the Global positioning system data to be presented on the map. At the end of the project, a website of real-time IIUM bus on campus monitoring system has been developed where users can monitor the exact location of the IIUM bus conveniently.","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127625444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such methods do not take into account the delay sensitive nature of video data. In this paper, we investigate the use of reduced-reference video quality monitoring for video oriented link adaptation. Estimation of the quality degradation due to channel errors is performed at the receiver side using the No-Reference video quality Monitoring metric. The estimates are sent to the encoder side where, combined with mean squared error values for the encoded video, they form a reduced reference metric that gives information about the quality of the video at the receiver. Link adaptation is then performed using this reduced reference metric.","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132296310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Normally undertaken as a confirmation or supplementary process to the seismic methods, this process often is applied in offshore environments. It enhances the decision-making process in offshore oil fields minimizing risk analysis associated with the uncertainties present in the oil and gas searching process. Such uncertainties may lead to losses of hundreds, even thousands, of millions of dollars in missed target or false target drilling. To reduce this risk major components of the received data from the subsurface have to be studied, evaluated, quantified and eliminated before decisions are made. One such this data component is the direct wave from the transmitting device directly to the receiver. This paper proposes an assisted methodology to quantify direct waves as a function of the transmitting current of the antenna, antenna frequency with respect to offset of the receiver from the antenna. To do so, first comprehensive simulations of related scenarios were developed and analyzed. A mathematical function was developed to model the representativeness of a specific model to an actual sea bed logging environment. Then, the mathematical model was validated with a blind data set to measure its accuracy.","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132957977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to obtain transistors with smaller size but with increased speed and performance, device scaling was done. However, making transistor in smaller size is not an easy task. One of the challenges with scaling the size of transistor is the short channel effects (SCEs). In order to reduce short channel effects, non-classical FETs were introduced. On top of that, the next transistor technology that was looked into was the semiconductor nanowire FET. In this work, a triangular shaped silicon nanowire (Si NW) FET with 300 nm channel length was designed using latest finite element analysis tool COMSOL Multiphysics and its SCE parameters were measured. The designed triangular shaped Si NW FET shows better performance in reducing the SCEs when compared with a similar sized cylindrical shaped Si NW FET and commercial MOSFET, (ZVNL120A).","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130955332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system comprises of a microcontroller (Arduino Uno), a micropump, a sensing unit and a water filter. The main objective of this paper is to study the ability of LDR sensing unit in detecting changes in water and to define the turbidity value of the water. This paper also described how the microcontroller controls the filtration system. Experiments on water turbidity was conducted under two conditions, undisturbed flow and continuous flow, which will affect the measurements of the LDR. Results show that the LDR readings in continuous flow require more time in between reading so that the turbidity value can be consistent. Results show that the LDR sensing together with the microcontroller can create a system that is capable of measuring water turbidity not only for water tanks but also for other water resources e.g. rivers, lakes, treatment plants etc. The implementation of an automated water filtration system can potentially help consumers in monitoring their water tanks and can be included in the smart home system.","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133077731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At First, the neural network with clustering method, used as a fuzzy rule generator to generate training fuzzy logic rules for the NSGA-II (Non dominated sorting genetic algorithm II). Multi-objective NSGA-II is used to optimize the fuzzy model involving more than three objective constraint to be augmented concurrently that are directly related to the fitness factor of the controller. Capacitance-voltage (C-V) and current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of commercial GaN LEDs before and after radiation have been investigated. I-V measurement shows no presence of current and measurement of C-V shows no presence of capacitance after irradiated with both dose level at the conveyor speed of 100kGy per pass, indicating an open circuit problem. However, LEDs that were irradiated with the same amount of dose with a conveyor speed of 50kGy per pass shows an increase in reverse leakage current.","PeriodicalId":360454,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering (ICCCE)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116121492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prototype design is able to detect the presence of water and a cell media. It consists of a biosensor which requires a low frequency AC input signal and the impedance data of the water and cell media is to be measured and displayed using an Arduino system.
