Abed, Akram Hammad","doi":"10.17762/jaz.v44is7.2759","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17762/jaz.v44is7.2759","url":null,"abstract":"Background: This research set out to assess the functional prognosis of constrained condylar knee (CCK) in patients with severe intraoperative instability and/or coronal deformity undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Materials and methods: A prospective cohort study including 25 knees (21 cases) who underwent primary TKA using CCK implants. Senior surgeon operated all patients during 2020/2021 and followed clinically and radiographically at three, six and 12 months and 2 years postoperative. All cases were implanted with a single-design, second-generation CCK implant with a mean follow-up of 2 years. Results: The current research involved 25 knees (21 patients) with mean age 62.8 ± 12.2 years and most of the included patients were females (19; 76%). Preoperatively, valgus was demonstrated in six patients (24%) while varus was reported in 19 patients (76%) with mean preoperative Valgus/Varus angle 24.4 ± 9.9. Mean preoperative Knee Society Score (KSS) was 13.2 ± 2.7, mean preoperative functional KSS was 23.8 ± 19.2 and mean preoperative range of movement (ROM) was 107 ± 19.2. After 6 months, mean values of KSS was 86.2 ± 7.59. After 1 year, 2 years & over 2 years, mean values of KSS were 86.2 ± 7.6, 86.2 ± 7.5, 86.3 ± 7.7 respectively. Degree of change in KSS before and after the operation was 69.1 ± 20.9. Mean values of late functional KSS was 62.5 ± 23.3. Degree of change in functional KSS before and after the operation was 36.8 ± 19.1. Postoperative ROM mean value was 120 ± 6.9 with degree of change 12.8 ± 6.3. Three cases reported postoperative complications; one cellulitis, one anterior femoral notching and one peroneal nerve injury. KSS increased from baseline to early postoperative with statistically significant variances (p< 0.001) however, no statistically significant changes were discovered in KSS from early postoperatively to 2 years of follow up. Conclusion: Primary TKA utilizing CCK implants in cases with severe coronal abnormalities and/or intraoperative instability had a good short-term survival rate, on par with less limited implants. With positive clinical and radiological results, CCK implants can be thought of as a good alternative in some instances. It is important to exercise caution while utilizing an elevated level of restraint, since less restricted implants should be preferred.","PeriodicalId":35945,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Zoology","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138973324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hybrids were characterized for the qualitative, kinetic parameters (total and specific activity, units, Km and Vmax) and partial purification of peroxidase. The qualitative study showed the presence of high molecular weight peroxidase isoforms i.e. 260 KD, 250 KD and 110KD bands. A strong maternal inheritance was observed for 260 KD loci in FRI-5. Kinetic characterization of peroxidase revealed that F1 genotypes had efficient peroxidase system over their parental combination resulting in 8 -10 times more heterotic vigour. The FRI-5 genotypes were found to be having efficient peroxidase system with lowest Km values (0.12mM-0.17mM) and higher Vmax values ranging from 0.07-0.14mM min-1mg prot-1. The study revealed the role of maternal inheritance and was found that better genotypes are produced when superior parents are used as seed parent. The results suggest the efficient use of peroxidase marker for the identification of the better genotypes in forest tree species. \u0000 ","PeriodicalId":35945,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Zoology","volume":"104 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139002170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Singh, Kuldeep Kumar Bhargav","doi":"10.17762/jaz.v44is7.2767","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17762/jaz.v44is7.2767","url":null,"abstract":"The current research involves the implementation of half diallel crosses between ten genotypes of bread wheat in 2018-2019. The parents and their F1 generation, excluding reciprocals, were then cultivated in the 2019-2020 growing season at the agriculture research farm, School of Agricultural Sciences and Engineering, IFTM University, Lodhipur Rajput, Moradabad (U.P.) and R.B. (PG) College, Mudi, Agra, using a randomized complete block design with three replications. Knowledge of type of gene action controlling target traits and genetic behaviour is a basic principle for designing an appropriate breeding procedure for the purpose of genetic improvement. Hence, the success of any selection or hybridization breeding program for developing varieties depends on precise estimates of genetic variation components for traits of interest which may be additive, dominant and non-allelic interaction effects. Significant genotype means squares and its components (parents and crosses) were obtained for all traits in both locations. Genetic components analysis found that additive (D) and Dominance (H1) was significant in all the traits. The value of mean degree of dominance was greater than additive, indicating availability of over dominance for all the traits. The present investigation revealed that grain yield was positively correlated with days to maturity, plant height, number of effective tillers per plant spike length, number of spikelets per spike, days to 50% heading and yield (q ha-1). Hence, more importance should be given to these traits while exercising selection. Based on the correlation and path studies it was reported that days to ear head emergence, days to maturity, plant height, number of effective tillers per plant, number of spikelets per spike, number of grains per spike, grain yield per plant and 1000 grain weight could be used as important selection traits in order of merit to improve productivity during designing a suitable breeding programme in wheat.","PeriodicalId":35945,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Zoology","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138972979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
