In order to achieve this ambitious goal, an all-encompassing transformation of the economy is necessary. In addition to the energy transition towards, at best, a complete supply of renewable energies, the promotion of green innovations is of central importance for the transformation. Furthermore, the pricing of CO₂ is emphasized as a central instrument of climate policy. However, carbon management strategies also play an important role. Finally, the carbon dividend should ensure social justice and create public support. The question arises as to whether the planned and implemented measures can actually make the green transformation a success.","PeriodicalId":35890,"journal":{"name":"Wirtschaftsdienst","volume":" 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141130902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Findings from interviews reveal a mixed impact of digitalisation on job demands and employment dynamics. While some firms experience workforce relief, others face heightened workload pressures. Despite widespread adoption, there is scant evidence of significant job losses attributed to technology integration. Instead, the data suggests a modest trend towards job creation. Notably, investment in workforce training emerges as a crucial factor in managing the digital transition.","PeriodicalId":35890,"journal":{"name":"Wirtschaftsdienst","volume":"224 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141145015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While market-based policy instruments are the backbone of climate policy, governmental support for research and development (R&D) complements an efficient policy mix that supports green innovations at all stages of the innovation process. Nonetheless, international R&D support has declined over the last decade. In an international comparison, Japan is at the forefront of green R&D support. Germany is also a leader in R&D support, but its market-based environmental policy stringency remains low, which undermines the importance of an adequate climate policy mix.","PeriodicalId":35890,"journal":{"name":"Wirtschaftsdienst","volume":"9 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141137213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Higher labour force participation offers great potential to counteract this. Improved job satisfaction and work motivation can help to increase the propensity to work. We show that skill shortages have been more pronounced in rural areas and that the gap between rural and urban regions has slightly increased. The intensity of a local skill shortage is linked to regional labour market conditions, the occupational composition and the share of small establishments. However, the most important factor is a more advanced demographic change in rural areas. Of all factors considered, the proportion of older workers correlates most strongly with the regional vacancy rate.","PeriodicalId":35890,"journal":{"name":"Wirtschaftsdienst","volume":"72 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141134266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
