According to the simulation results in a standard 0.18μm CMOS process, the sensitivity of the output current over temperature of this log domain circuit is 2.941pA/°C. This is archived by using the modified current reference circuit which is directly proportion to temperature as the bias current for the log domain filter circuit. Additionally, this modified current reference circuit can be operated at low power supply voltage (1.11V) while high PSSR (0.43nA/V) is maintained. The power consumption of this modified current reference is in the sub-microwatt range (0.1μW).","PeriodicalId":356009,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT)","volume":"56 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130799518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spectrum handoff occurs when the owner of the spectrum or the primary user (PU) reclaims a channel already used opportunistically by a secondary user (SU). In this case, the SU has to vacate this channel and select another free one. This process has a negative impact on the performance of SU transmission in terms of delay and link maintenance, specially because of the unpredictable PU behavior. In this paper, the problem of minimizing the secondary user (SU) handoff process because of primary user activity is underlined. A mixed Integer non Linear Programming formulation of the problem is detailed and a channel selection strategy is proposed. The main idea of this access model is to select channels maximizing the preference of the secondary user towards the holding time and the achievable throughput. The SU preference is expressed using a microeconomic concept of Sigmoid utility. The performance and the suitability of the proposed access model is investigated through numerical simulations.","PeriodicalId":356009,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131427523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two groups of students from the School of Information Technology at Mae Fah Luang University participated in both projects from the beginning. One group started in December 2011 and the other in December 2012. Each project took 6 months to complete. The impact of these two projects will reveal firstly that information technology, especially available hardware and software that are not beyond the capability of a local administration to implement, can make existing tasks more effective and efficient. Secondly, the students who participated in these two projects have acquired a great opportunity to work as information system analysts and designers in real situations where local communities actually solve particular problems by utilizing information technology for their own tasks. Lastly, for the School of Information Technology and Mae Fah Luang University as a whole, it can be demonstrated that a curriculum utilizing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is an appropriate direction for this type of study.","PeriodicalId":356009,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT)","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131676429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a rule for chromosome classification to identify good metaphase spreads. The chromosome shapes were classified into four main classes. The first and the second classes refer to individual chromosomes with straight and bended shapes, respectively. The third class is characterized as those chromosomes with overlapping bodies and the forth class is for the non-chromosomal artifacts. Good metaphase spreads should largely contain the first and the second classes while the number of the third class should be kept minimal. Several image parameters were examined and used for creating rule-based classification. The threshold value for each parameter is determined using statistical model. We observed that the empirical probability density function of the parameters can be represented by Gaussian model and, hence, the threshold value can be easily determined. The proposed rules can efficiently and accurately classify the individual chromosome with > 90% accuracy.","PeriodicalId":356009,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT)","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115417069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a new variable substitution method for transforming the denominator coefficients of a variable-IIR-filter into another set of variables such that arbitrary values of the new variables can guarantee the stability of the resulting variable-IIR-filter. That is, the design problem subject to stability guarantee (constrained non-linear design problem) is converted into an unconstrained design problem. As a consequence, the resulting variable-IIR-filters are always guaranteed theoretically. A lowpass variable-IIR-filter design example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the design formulation.","PeriodicalId":356009,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116392735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
