A geophysical evaluation using Electrical Resistivity method for groundwater exploration at the study area was carried out which involved the utilization of Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) technique with schlumberger array system. About eight (8) points of vertical electrical sounding (VES) survey using ABEM tetrameter (SAS 300) was tabulated in a table which shows the resistivity, the thicknesses and the number of layers for each VES station. The field results were plotted, the curve types and lithologic layers were revealed. The plots showed type-Q, type-K, type-A and type-H curve merging while VES-3 did not reveal any type of curve. This was because of that point understudy being homogenously deposited and non-horizontally layered. Some of the VES points have horizontal layers not more than two for example, VES-1 and VES-3 whiles others have a maximum of four layers within them. The resistivity of the basement within the area ranges from 163.1 ohm-m to 9113.4 ohm-m with an average resistivity of 2627.76 ohm-m. In terms of geological structures and aquifer potential, VES-7 and VES-8 showed to possess characteristically a good geological structures and aquifers for groundwater potentials.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126642956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While some countries consider phasing out nuclear power, others are considering building new power plants. Controversial debates have always arisen over the sustainability of nuclear energy, and radioactive waste has been the main topic. The possibility of long term management of radioactive waste considering the population behavioural and demographic characteristics is of particular importance in this study. The aim of the study was to examine if demographic factors and behavioural factors influence the sustainable management of radioactive waste, more precisely their final disposal. In particular, we analysed the relationship between each variable and the acceptance of the final disposal of radioactive waste and the location of the disposal facility. To find the answer of the present research study, we set the acceptance of the final disposal of radioactive waste and the location of the disposal facility as dependent variable and two demographic variables and two behavioural variables as independent variables. Statistical correlations were performed between the selected variables by using SPSS Statistics to establish the relationship between the factors at the individual level and the acceptance of the final disposal of radioactive waste in the context of sustainable development. Questionnaires were used as research tool. Based on this investigation, it was found that there is no correlation between perceived risks and the acceptance of the final disposal of radioactive waste and the location of the disposal facility. Likewise, this study shows that individuals’ acceptance of radioactive waste is based on individual behaviour, but it is also influenced by the demographic characteristics.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126060504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the weight reduction and optimal material distribution with specific requirements on external loads and appropriate constraints, the topology optimization methods is most widely used. In this paper, by using Solid Thinking Inspire topology optimization software via simulation in terms of effective load and reasonable constraints on the 3D model of the chair, six different chair concept structure prototypes are obtained, which are then used to deepen the product scheme and to facilitate the Additive Manufacturing. Optimal topology optimization results are associated with the loads and constraints that applied. The actual use of the furniture should be also considered when apply topology optimization in designing furniture covering the load and constraints. Study results indicate that the topology optimization is an effective way to innovative furniture structure and design methods, which then provide new ideas for the development of new products. Besides, applying the correct external loads and constraints is the key for the optimal topology design, and is also the challenges for studies.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131147086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A panel data of 184 non-financial companies listed on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange was collected over the period from the year 2013 to the year 2017. With the aim of assessing irrational investment status, Richardson's theoretical model of investment was adopted to separate irrational investment into over-investment and under-investment. This study employed panel data regression with the fixed effects model to test the proposed hypothesis. The estimated results showed that over-investment negatively affected firm performance while proper investment had a positive influence on firm performance. Meanwhile, the impact of under-investment on the performance of enterprises was different according to industry. Based on the empirical findings, the study provided some policy implications for the corporate governance.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123335110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed multi-resolution feature extraction technique uses wavelet transform and wavelet packet to calculate features of each sub-band in order not to spread noise distortions over the entire feature space. In our previous works, we had developed a method for speech classification. For speech classification, the universe of discourse is divided into many types, and each type is treated as a class. The hyper-rectangular fuzzy system is used to classify frames and integrate the rule-based approach. The variances of each sub-band are utilized to extract both crisp and fuzzy classification rules. In our experiments, the Texas Instruments/Massachusetts Institute of Technology database is used and extracts features of phonemes. The results demonstrate the superior performance to Mel frequency cepstral coefficients. The effectiveness of the proposed system is encouraging.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121773172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study area was modelled using 2-D resistivity and induced polarization tomography for delineation of plumes resulting from the oil spills and those caused by mineralized bodies. 2-D data acquisition techniques were used to obtain apparent resistivity and IP data. Interpretation of electrical resistivity and IP tomograms shows that the hydrocarbon plumes signatures are masked by signatures from polarized bodies within the subsurface. The identification and isolation of the resistivity anomalies from the IP anomalies are of major concern in this research. Resistivity and induced polarization tomograms are used to accurately delineate the plume boundaries and also identify of regions masked by the presence of clays and other mineralized bodies within the subsurface.","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133643021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Like other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Burkina Faso is also vulnerable to the extreme effects of climate change, although few studies have been carried out, even though several vital sectors, such as agriculture and the livestock, forestry are strongly affected. The objective of this work is to study the evolution of rainfall and temperature extremes in the Nakambé watershed at the synoptic stations of Ouagadougou, Ouahigouya and Pô. ClimPACT2 was used to calculate the extreme rainfall and temperature indices. The results show that cumulative rainfall above the 95th percentile (R95p) increases by 147.2 mm and 141.3 mm respectively in Ouahigouya and Ouagadougou. However, in Pô, a slight downward trend in the index (-0.17 mm) was observed. Cumulative extremely wet rainfall (R99p) is increasing at all stations. The frequencies of cold nights (TN10p) and cold days (TX10p) are decreasing while those of warm nights (TN90p) and warm days (TX90p) are increasing. The application of break detection tests to rainfall indices shows breaks in the time series. The PETTITT, HUBERT and LEE and HEGHINIAN tests show a break in 2008 for the PRCPTOT index in Ouagadougou with an excess of 20.8% from 2009 to 2018. With these same tests, a break is detected in 2006 in Ouahigouya on the same index followed by a 29.5% surplus","PeriodicalId":354718,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130206589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
