The proposed control method takes into account a compensation current time delay that depends on a nonlinear load. The prediction-based control method (PBCM) uses measurement data sampled in previous periods to generate a reference time prediction. As a result, the PBCM improves the harmonic filtering by APF and guarantees effective harmonic compensation in all operating points. The performance of the proposed PBCM has been validated using simulation in the PowerSim environment. The inner control loop is designed based on sliding mode control in order to provide desired value of input current. The second control loop allows maintaining the regulation of the voltage of transferring energy capacitor. The proportional-integral (PI) controller is used in the second control loop. The last outer control loop regulates the output voltage of the Cuk converter by integral (I) controller. The time-scale separation technique is applied for selection of PI controller parameters. An electromagnet with fixed core position is used as a test model. The energy loss mathematical description is derived with respect to magnetic induction change influence on the effects in the steel magnetic core at varied magnetization frequency. This description is made with respect to core material saturation degree, magnetic flux non-sinusoidal and periodical change and converter input voltage form. The simulation was performed with structured modeling in Matlab Simulink. The major attention is focused on the comparison of different approaches with respect to the quantitatively estimated difference of the results obtained. The examples of electromagnetic converters dynamical models are stated to illustrate energy loss estimation in the massive core and the detailed analysis of electromagnetic processes in different modes using structured modeling methods and aids. The analysis results can be widely used in electromagnetic converters structured dynamical models design.
