Abstract

This paper describes the results of an extensive investigation to evaluate a specific prediction-based control method for an active power filter (APF) and applications concerned. The proposed control method takes into account a compensation current time delay that depends on a nonlinear load. The prediction-based control method (PBCM) uses measurement data sampled in previous periods to generate a reference time prediction. As a result, the PBCM improves the harmonic filtering by APF and guarantees effective harmonic compensation in all operating points. The performance of the proposed PBCM has been validated using simulation in the PowerSim environment. The results of the simulation are discussed.
