Estos desordenes son mas frecuentes en mujeres posmenopausicas, por lo que su prevalencia va en aumento, en concordancia con el envejecimiento de la poblacion. Este conjunto de trastornos, suelen determinar un importante deterioro en la calidad de vida, principalmente debido a las manifestaciones clinicas que pueden presentar, tales como dolor pelvico, incontinencia urinaria y/o fecal, constipacion o prolapso de organos pelvicos. El diagnostico de estas patologias se logra de forma mas apropiada mediante la evaluacion por imagenes; cuando el diagnostico realiza solo en base a la historia clinica y el examen fisico, hay una tasa de error significativa y, en consecuencia, pueden ocurrir intervenciones fallidas o innecesarias. Por lo anterior, la Defecografia por Resonancia Magnetica (D-RM) juega un rol fundamental, especialmente previo a intervenciones quirurgicas, ya que es una modalidad no invasiva que aporta informacion multiplanar y dinamica, con alta resolucion temporo-espacial y que permite valorar de manera precisa la anatomia y alteraciones de los compartimentos que conforman el piso pelvico, sin riesgo de irradiacion para el paciente. Los objetivos de este articulo son describir el protocolo tecnico a utilizar en la D-RM ilustrar a traves de imagenes representativas la anatomia normal de la pelvis femenina junto con sus puntos, lineas, angulos y medidas mas importantes; y ejemplificar los hallazgos imagenologicos de los desordenes mas frecuentes que afectan al piso pelvico.","PeriodicalId":35339,"journal":{"name":"Revista Chilena de Radiologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48033880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abstract: Focal cortical dysplasias are a common cause of refractory epilepsy. The findings on magnetic resonance imaging can be subtle, requiring optimal quality examination as well as extensive experience and dedica-tion from the neuroradiologist. Even under the best conditions, there are a considerable number of cases in which an injury cannot be identified. The sensitivity of its detection varies between 20 and 70%. The Morphometric Analysis Program (MAP), is a post-processing program of the magnetic resonance image whose objective is to increase the sensitivity in the detection of focal cortical dysplasia (CFD). This program works by comparing the shape, thickness and distribution of gray matter and white matter of a patient with a database of normal brains. As a result, MAP delivers 3 images that correspond to statistical volumetric maps called the union, extension and thickness map. This article discloses the operation of MAP in its different stages as well as its practical application, through some cases.","PeriodicalId":35339,"journal":{"name":"Revista Chilena de Radiologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46836418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Que ha causado un gran impacto en el area medica, y especificamente en la radiologia. El rol del radiologo es fundamental para identificar de forma correcta las manifestaciones de esta enfermedad, principalmente los hallazgos pulmonares en imagenes. Sin embargo, durante el ultimo tiempo se han descrito hallazgos extra-pulmonares en pacientes infectados, entre las que incluyen manifestaciones cardiacas, toracicas y derivadas del estado pro trombotico producido por el virus. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar de forma retrospectiva hallazgos imagenologicos extrapulmonares en pacientes con COVID-19 de nuestras dos instituciones. Ademas se realizo una revision de la literatura sobre las manifestaciones extra-pulmonares y complicaciones reportadas de la enfermedad. Esperamos aportar informacion para un adecuado y optimo manejo de estos pacientes. UNEXPECTED FINDINGS AND COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH COVID-19 PNEUMONIA: LOCAL EXPERIENCE AND LITERATURE REVIEW. COVID-19 is a viral disease produced by SARS-CoV-2 that was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 2020. The pandemic has caused a great impact in several medical disciplines, including radiology. Radiologists have a fundamental role in identifying characteristic imaging findings of the COVID-19 disease. The studies regarding extra pulmonary findings of COVID-19 are relatively new. These findings include cardiac, thoracic and abdominal manifestations as a result of the pro-thrombotic state produced by the virus. Unexpected extrapulmonary imaging findings of COVID-19 patients from two different institutions are presented. In addition, we conducted a literature review of extra pulmonary manifestations and complications of this disease. The aim of this study is to provide information for an early recognition and optimal management of these complications.","PeriodicalId":35339,"journal":{"name":"Revista Chilena de Radiologia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46501442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its main indication has been the study of acute cerebral infarction in order to determine ischemic penumbra susceptible to reperfusion therapy. However, there is evidence of its usefulness in other situations such as: hypo - hyperperfusion states, tumor grading in glial neoplasms, head trauma and others. The advanta-ges of CTP are its availability, speed and the possibility of performing it in conjunction with angiographic studies. However, it has disadvantages derived from the use of ionizing radiation and iodinated contrast agent. We present different clinical entities that have been studied in our institution with CTP, where the technique has provided relevant information for diagnosis and treatment.
