The paper aims at developing a management system for a microgrid composed of a hybrid power system and an ensemble of 8 households. The goal is the minimal use of energy from the national distribution network. The hybrid generation system has 8 photovoltaic panels and 4 wind turbines, with maximum power of 37,6 kW. A Matlab/Simulink model of the microgrid was used for simulation of the control system based on decision tables. The decision rules were developed in order to take better advantage of the available resources and to assure a certain independence from the main electrical grid. The tests were done over a one-day interval, using real experimental data. It showed that the energy consumed can be covered from microgrid's own sources for most of the day (80%). Also, the rest of the day, the consumption is partly provided by photovoltaic panels and wind turbines.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125319847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Validating the Control Flow Graph (CFG) is usually done by instrumenting the code and enforcing a set of conditions which imply overhead and compiler support. In this paper, we investigate an alternative approach, based on controlled-channel: by invalidating certain pages and monitoring the Page Faults, we generate a CFG of faulting instructions which we use to detect unusual execution flows (e.g. buffer overflows, ROP) and discuss methods to estimate and mitigate the induced overhead. Using the page invalidation selection algorithms that we propose, we obtain an approximate slowdown factor of 3.43. This can be further reduced by doing a manual analysis of the involved binaries and sacrificing accuracy for speed.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116880519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Connected sensors and devices inside the seniors' home produce a significant amount of data about them and their daily activities. IoT and Big Data Analytics (BDA) are an important mean to derive knowledge and support for improving the life conditions for the older adults by increasing the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for accomplish this goal. IoT analytics can aid in personalizing applications that benefit both elderly people and the ever-growing industries that need adapt their offer to the consumer's profiles. This paper presents a new platform that enables innovative analytics on IoT captured data from smart residences of elderly people. A solution based on the use of fog nodes and cloud system is suggested in order to afford data-driven services and to manage the complexity and provision of the necessary resources for online and offline data processing, storage, and analysis. The requirements and the design of the platform architecture are underlined. We propose an architecture of a platform based on fog computing nodes coupled with cloud computing that offers an efficient near real time processing of the big data resulted from IoT system that provides insights and data processing and analysis facilities into cloud. This integrated design has an important impact on time sensitive applications by addressing the latency issues of cloud.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128250788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The continuous growth of urban population and the digital transformation aim to leverage the changes and opportunities of digital technologies and their impact across society as well as the more empowered and demanding citizens are essential factors in this approach. All activities in smart city are focused on new and smart technologies that address the urban management and governance issues. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)-based solutions enhance the interconnectivity provided by the Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities and embrace the new evolution of citizen empowered in handling information and in resolving complex problems. Accelerated by the innovation process in the public service sector, the digital public services must meet the expectations of the new wave of users that can't anymore dissociate their daily activities from the large-scale use of smart technologies. IoT has already proven to better sustain the sensing and connectivity, becoming thus an efficient tool to address a broader range of qualitative public services and to proactively involve the more demanding citizen. A smart citizen expects new types of digital public services able to support his/her engagement in the streamlining of the decision-making processes at the community, regional or national level. He/she is connected at an enhanced level with the appropriate public authority in order to deliver particular data and information or to demonstrate a personal point of view. In the same time, the public authorities are enabled to process the gathered data and the multi-dimensional insights derived from it, generating afterwards urban improvements, efficiency, or patterns to evolve. This paper highlights the main features of the new emerging smart citizen in the context of the already existing digital citizen and how the IoT has the capability to transform the interaction between the citizen and the public authorities, and the digital public services themselves. A proposed reference architecture of a digital public service based on IoT aims to demonstrate how the capabilities of this expandable technology can meet the new requirements in the specific context of a smart city and citizen.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133355251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While traditional approaches are developed over elaborated pipelines that need specific pre-trained models for a language (acoustic model, a phonetic dictionary, etc.), deep learning architectures like Recurrent Neural Networks have been trained for automatic speech recognition using only large datasets of speech corpora (audio and aligned transcript files). Starting from the DeepSpeech architecture, we present the performance of the model trained for Romanian language over the SWARA speech corpus which contains almost 21 hours of speech data using 17 different speakers. The experiments were focused on obtaining the best performance of the network in terms of Word Error Rate by tweaking the parameters of the model on the SWARA dataset. We present preliminary results obtained for this Romanian dataset, alongside with the encountered limitations while training the model on other languages besides English.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133456178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
