Taking advantage of the linearities of sound reflections, we propose a method for simulating voices affected by reverberation in different rooms. Our approach is based on the Room Impulse Response (RIR) method and our technique reveals an easy and intuitive way of obtaining the required signals and performing the simulations. Even the emissions of principal air pollutants are highly regulated, for an accurate health impact assessment is lacking information about real dimension of personal exposure. To tackle these challenges, local air pollution measurements and citizen involvement based on the small IoT devices became necessary. The Tel-MonAer informatic system are based on IoT devices and Edge/Cloud computing technologies and will allow the (near) real-time monitoring of air pollutants considering specific aspects related to dependency between various parameters. This paper describes the influence that air humidity has on the PMs concentrations measured with IoT devices based on laser technologies. The results show the need to consider and build a specific ML algorithm to provide estimated PMs concentration values when the relative air humidity pass a certain threshold value (80%).","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123229077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alzheimer's accounts for approximately two thirds of the people that suffer from dementia and it is a term that describes generically the memory loss. The inability to remember has major consequences upon the daily living activities patterns of the elders that suffer from this condition and consequently the study of the daily living activities performed by the people with Alzheimer's can reduce the health care costs accordingly. The main contributions of this article are: (1) the development of a novel bio-inspired algorithm called Kangaroo Mob Optimization, (2) the development of a machine learning methodology for predicting the daily living activities based on Binary Kangaroo Mob Optimization Features Selection and Random Forest and (3) the application of the proposed methodology on four datasets from literature and on one synthetic dataset in order to demonstrate the improvement of the classification performance.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134263006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scientific literature shows that this method has not reached its peak and results are promising, as can be seen from Section 2. Sensors were included in different areas with the sole purpose of optimizing results (traffic management, crop field surveillance and many more). Beside obvious advantages that they bring, they offer also limitations in terms of hardware/software capabilities. For this reason, this paper addresses the need of reducing the transmission time and energy consumption due to the limited capacities of wireless sensors. The most important part of the proposed optimization relies in the dynamic construction of the trajectory that an unmanned aerial vehicle uses for gathering data from wireless sensors. The trajectory will be built based on a file that contains the positions of all sensors in the field. The file would be created in a previous step, when the unmanned aerial vehicle would fly on a predefined pattern and discover sensors on the ground. Based on the locations of the sensors, grouping and optimizations are done to obtain the best trajectory for the given location of sensors. Simulations were made with Network Simulator 2 and results show that the proposed objectives have been reached.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115600928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even if, at the beginning of the technological advance, IoT was used only in the industrial applications, now it has reached regular consumers, enabling Smart-Home applications. In the IoT landscape, Smart-Home applications need to meet certain requirements, such as enriching the user experience or allowing the integration with an IoT Cloud platform and a smartphone management solution. In a Smart-Home architecture, remote access, whether or not using a trusted Cloud, requires secure authentication and authorization mechanisms in order to protect against unauthorized actions. This paper proposes a Smart-Home security framework which consists in a Secure Cloud platform and a smartphone based command authorization solution. The Secure Cloud acts as proxy between the IoT devices and a third-party Cloud vendor and the smartphone authorization mechanism allows the user to control the commands received by the IoT device.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126872391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of our research is to develop a rigorous comparative study between two criteria for testing the existence of λ-contractive polyhedral sets with respect to the switching systems. Despite the common objective of the two criteria, their connections at the level of the mathematical backgrounds have been insufficiently explored. These backgrounds are relatively distanced, namely the operation with convex sets versus solvability of several matrix equalities, with inequality constraints. Our work proposes complete mathematical results with accompanying proofs, which are able to explain all the links that are currently missing from the literature. These theoretical results are illustrated by a numerical example run in Matlab, which also offers visual support for the construction and utilization of λ-contractive polyhedral sets.","PeriodicalId":352411,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Conference on Control Systems and Computer Science (CSCS)","volume":"181 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121821056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
