To this end, a novel scheme combining two SSVEP's features is proposed to control the simulated cart in a relatively continuous and accurate way. More specifically, the phase locking index (PLI) feature is sequentially combined with the standard canonical correlation analysis (CCA)-based frequency detection method, which allows the use of multiple channel EEG signals in this design. To evaluate the proposed design, twenty subjects were invited to play this game three times. The overall results demonstrated that the subjects could control the simulated cart in a relatively continuous way to the expected locations in the game.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121245373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variational Bayesian GMM (VBGMM) is used to automatically cluster operational data into steady-state and transient responses, where extraction of steady-state data is an important preprocessing scenario for fault detection. Important features are extracted from steady-state data, which are then fingerprinted to show any anomalies of patterns which may be due to machine faults. Field data measurements from vibration sensors are used to show that the extensions of GMMs provide a useful tool for machine condition monitoring, fault detection and diagnostics in the field. Through the use of experimental trials on IGTs, it is shown that GMM is particularly useful for the detection of emerging faults especially where there is a lack of knowledge of machine fault patterns.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116917625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, one of the renewable sources of energy is wind energy, which has the advantage of being pollution free and inexhaustible. However, the use of wind energy is strongly influenced by wind speed, which is not constant. Such varying wind speeds lead to the creation of fluctuated wind power. Consequently, there is a need for modeling and the accurate prediction of wind speed to help optimize the design of the turbine and control system in a wind energy conversion system to maintain system stability. This paper presents the modeling of very short-term wind speed using Stochastic Petri Nets (SPN) that is based on the measurement results of wind speed in Nganjuk. In this study, Stochastic Petri Nets was designed by using 7 places and 7 transitions. Transition to the SPN is defined as a function that generates random values using a uniform function. Wind speed data that was generated during a 500 seconds interval, was compared with the observed wind speeds. The comparison of the generated wind speed and observed ones shows that both its statistical characteristic have similar value.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"08 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128674729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such paradigm may allow to provide advanced services (i.e. Demand Response) increasing network efficiency and reliability. Necessary requisite for the implementation of a Smart Grid is having a metering architecture that can provide timely and reliable information regarding the state of the grid. The paper addresses the topic of an Advaced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), focusing on the first block, the Smart Meter. A meter prototype for the electric energy measurement, based on ARM architecture, is presented; the technical solutions, both in hardware and software, are described in detail; finally the results of tests carried out for its metrological characterization are reported.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126469466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a non-parametric background subtraction algorithm based on samples modeling, adaptive threshold, and color layers combination is presented. The proposed framework showed an increase in performances regarding the accuracy and the robustness of the detection in indoor situations. The presented performance analysis supports the robustness of the algorithm to gradual illumination changes and ghost artifact.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122023400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to overcome the calculated amount expansion problem of generalized frequency response function (GFRF), the one-dimensional nonlinear output frequency response function (NOFRF) is used to obtained nonlinear spectrum data. After obtaining nonlinear frequency spectrum data, the spectrum features are extracted by kernel principal component analysis(KPCA) method. To fully consider global characteristics and local characteristics of spectrum data, a kind of mixed function is used as kernel function of KPCA model. According to different frequency domain scale characteristics, a multi-fault classifier based on support vector machine (SVM) fusion is constructed, and the fusion method based on sub-classifier classification reliability is proposed. Experiment results indicate that the proposed fault diagnosis method has higher recognition rate so that it has important practical value.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125675686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many of them require a threshold that is predefined or a training data set. The objective of this paper is to find a way to perform segmentation without a threshold or training data set. Dot plot analysis has been widely used in bioinformatics to identify similar segments between proteins or DNA. The philosophy behind dot plot analysis can be applied to perform surface EMG signal segmentation. The properties of the new algorithm is examined. The major advantage of the dot-plot segmentation algorithm is that threshold is no long need to be estimated, instead the minimal length of a segment in a time series signal need to be declared.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121970967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach provides details about an SIG system architecture which establishes the connection between Master SIGs and Perimeter SIGs, the traffic flow, major alerts, and minor alerts. Simulation experiments are an indispensable phase to analyze and assess the security of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. Although numerous experiments have taken place, limitations are still not been shrunk. The SCADA Intelligence Gateway concept proposed in this paper is experimentally proved and showed its ability to secure the SCADA system from attacks. The intelligence learning mechanism established the ability to identify malicious traffic through bot production and simulation environments.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126082027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although each region of the brain was thought to be independent and responsible only for particular tasks and specialized functions, recent studies have shown that different regions of the brain interact with each other in performing specific tasks or even during the resting state. However, the temporal variations in functional connectivity have been largely overlooked by most studies. This study aims to explore time-varying properties of functional connectivity through comparing results from different correlation and regression analysis methods on a sample set of fMRI data acquired from a visual task. The results clearly show that functional connectivity in the visual task is transient, which suggests that simply assuming a sustained connectivity change during task period might not be sufficient to capture dynamic functional connectivity changes induced by tasks.","PeriodicalId":348918,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Virtual Environments for Measurement Systems and Applications (CIVEMSA)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116748647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
