Wśród badanych materiałów są gwoździe kute ręcznie, walcowane na gorąco oraz gwoździe współczesne wytwarzane metodą kucia matrycowego. Starsze gwoździe mają głównie trzpień o przekroju kwadratowym, natomiast najpopularniejsze gwoździe produkowane współcześnie mają trzpień okrągły. Badania wykazały, jak zmieniła się jakość stali stosowanej do ich wyrobu i jak przełożyło się to na właściwości wytrzymałościowe. Dowiedziono również, iż jakość obecnie używanych stali do wyrobu gwoździ jest dużo wyższa niż od stosowanych 80–100 lat temu. Limited functional verification of a prototype was made by using 3D printing technology SLS. The construction of the additional connector was based on modules which increase diameter during the assembly of a widely used furniture connection. An additional force is obtained to prevent the loss of joint durability under changing climatic conditions of furniture usage. The parameters of the CVD process were modified and various carbon structures, including graphene type ones, were obtained. The coatings were characterised by Raman spectra and SEM microscopy. The wettability of the surface was evaluated by investigating a contact angle. Changes in the Cr content in the obtained alloy coatings, current efficiency of the process, surface morphology, structure and microhardness as a function of chromium(III) concentration in the bath to deposition, current density (direct and pulse) and solution mixing were determined. Surface morphology, structure and hardness of the obtained coatings were investigated. The Zn-Cr alloy coatings of good quality contained up to 0.25 %Cr (for direct current) and up to 9% Cr (for pulse current). The research was carried out on coatings obtained in a vacuum furnace-melting process of two alloys: BNi-1a and BNi-2. The alloys in paste form had a different content of Ni, Cr and Fe. Change in the content of these elements affects the size and density of the distribution of chromium borides. In the BNi-1a coating, the precipitations are fine-grained and densely distributed in the nickel matrix. While, in the BNi-2 coating they are larger and occur in dendritic agglomerations, on the surface they are in the form of plaques. Machine parts and tools of various shapes and sizes are nitrided, including drills, cutters, dies, shafts, rings, bearing balls, etc. often characterized by a complicated shape. The nitrided layers should have a controlled thickness not only of the diffusion zone, but also the surface layer of iron nitrides to have good exploitation properties. With a properly prepared surface on low alloy steels, we obtain a uniform nitrided layer after nitriding. It may happen that the structure of the nitrided layer is heterogeneous or even completely lacking in the nitrided parts having a complicated shape, and especially thin inner openings, where it is difficult to properly prepare the surface. Therefore, the nitriding problem is not the external surface of the workpieces but the internal one. The aim of the work was to assess the possibility of nitriding deep holes with small diameter. The tests were carried out on cylindrical specimens of unalloyed and low-alloy steel with electro-bored and mechanically hollow through holes and blind holes. The coatings of zirconium oxynitride have been deposited by the method of cathodic arc evaporation onto steel substrates. A set of coatings obtained at different relative volumetric concentrations of oxygen in the reaction atmosphere during deposition has been investigated. The influence of oxygen concentration on the colour, surface morphology and phase composition of the coatings has been analyzed. With the increase of oxygen content, the colour of the thin Zr-O-N coating has changed from golden-yellow to graphite. Observation of the surface of the coatings by means of the SEM method has shown the presence of surface defects in the form of macroparticles ranging from a submicron to several micrometers, with the smallest microparticle population being the largest. It has also been found that the surface roughness of the Zr-O-N coatings increases as the relative volumetric concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere during deposition increases. By means of X-ray diffraction analysis it has been shown that the zirconium oxide phase has occurred with a relative oxygen concentration of 50%, whereas below this value only the ZrN phase has been observed. The influence of nitrogen pres-sure and substrate bias voltage on the properties of CrAlN coatings formed from Al80Cr20 cathode, such as: chemical and phase composition of the coatings, their surface morphology, deposition rate, hardness and adhesion to the substrate have been investigated. It has been determined that the rate of the deposition of coatings in the nitrogen atmosphere with the pressure of 3 Pa is the highest and that with the increase of the negative bias voltage of the substrate the deposition rate decreases. The roughness parameter Ra of the coating surface decreases as the nitrogen pressure increases during their formation. Presumably, this is related to the reduction of the amount of macroparticles on the surface of the coating. The hardness of the coatings (taking into account the measurement uncertainty) is independent of the nitrogen pressure, but it increases with the increase of the negative bias voltage of the substrate. The adhesion of the coating increases with the increase of the nitrogen pressure to 3–4 Pa, and then it decreases.
