So far, the Polish, Russian and Bulgarian languages have not been subjected to a comparative analysis with regard to the use of feminitives. The article provides a contrastive analysis of names for professions and functions as well as certain linguistic conventions in the languages in question. Drawing on extensive linguistic material, the authors’ research exposes the problem of linguistic asymmetry in the creation of female names in the three Slavic languages representing the Western, Western and Southern groups respectively.","PeriodicalId":34847,"journal":{"name":"Socjolingwistyka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47485372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis combines the sociolinguistic perspective with the historical and linguistic perspective. Substantial basis consists in two volumes of correspondence written in many places visited by the historian at different stages of his life to his parents and siblings. The analysis was conducted in a two fold manner — the excerpted phenomena were referenced back to the resources of the general Polish language system contemporary to the writer and to the north-borderland dialect and to the masovian dialect. The basic distinction of Lelewel’s family language in field of phonetics and inflection is its variants and presence of archaic and regional elements.","PeriodicalId":34847,"journal":{"name":"Socjolingwistyka","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41388448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accepting the linguistic perspective, the author analyzes inflectional phenomena, which became the linguistic canvas of szmonces: mistakes related to insufficient knowledge of Polish as well as internal and external interference (with the Yiddish language). In cabaret texts, these means have both the identifying function (they point out to a J ewish character) and the genre-making function, they also serve to create a comic effect. The analysis of measures used by the authors of szmonces is an extension and supplement to the study of the Polish language of Jews in literary texts that Maria Brzezina conducted in the 1980s.","PeriodicalId":34847,"journal":{"name":"Socjolingwistyka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44596900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its dichotomous structure is reflected in two basic embodiments: воля and свобода. An issue crucial for understanding its functioning in conditions of totalitarianism is taking into account the actual perception of freedom by senders, and an analysis of the rhetorical use of this concept in propaganda and documentary texts. On a basis of the analysed material it can be said that the dichotomy of свобода — воля, traditional for the Russian languaculture, underwent significant reinterpretation under the analysed discourse, first by elimination of its second components as implying a lack of restrictions, while having a positive meaning, and thus being potentially harmful from the system propaganda point of view, and then by updating the three categories corresponding to three basic groups mentioned in the discourse. US (FRIENDS ) is the first of these categories, to which настоящая свобода corresponds, THEM (STRAN GERS , an external enemy мнимая свобода) form the second of these categories, while the third one describes THEM (STRAN GERS , an internal enemy, произвол).","PeriodicalId":34847,"journal":{"name":"Socjolingwistyka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41824837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The philosophical backgrounds underpinning these varieties of English are put forward, showing the arguments surrounding the modelling of varieties of English across the board. Kachru’s three circle model which has clearly been cited and revised in the literature is discussed, showing its contribution and importance to the categorization of varieties of English in three different developmental stages. A commonly understudied model, a Map of World English is brought to the fore front, showing how the common shortcomings of Kachru’s Three Circle Model have already been accounted for in the literature. The other main contribution in this paper is the proposal of a model accounting for the evolution of outer circle varieties of English from the perspective of Nigerian variety of English. In other words, the historical events involving the evolution of Nigerian variety of English is clearly permissible for such similar outer varieties such as Ghanaian, Singaporean, Indian English, except for idiosyncratic socio-political events that are less relevant for the development of the language all the years long.","PeriodicalId":34847,"journal":{"name":"Socjolingwistyka","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42063099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The terminology created for Poland’s accession to the EU has not been analyzed in detail so far, nor is it included in the Polish dictionaries. For several years, I conducted a study, covering the corpus of collected lexical units defining the activities of the EU, consisting in an attempt to analyze them morpholexically and to systematise them. As a result, I divided the corps, among others, into official terms, confirmed in sources, and bruxellisms (2019) — equivalents of EU terms in the general language.
