For instance, when we are interested in investigating the reasons for human behavior (i.e., why people think or do certain things), we quite often talk of ‘Motivation Research’, an important type of qualitative research. This type of research aims at discovering the underlying motives and desires, using in depth interviews for the purpose. Other techniques of such research are word association tests, sentence completion tests, story completion tests and similar other projective techniques. Attitude or opinion research i.e., research designed to find out how people feel or what they think about a particular subject or institution is also qualitative research. Qualitative research is especially important in the behavioral sciences where the aim is to discover the underlying motives of human behavior. Through such research we can analyze the various factors which motivate people to behave in a particular manner or which make people like or dislike a particular thing. Ovsjaniko-Kulikovskij est sans doute un des représentants les plus originaux du courant psychologique de la lignée Humboldt-Steinthal-Potebnja et sa conception linguistique vaut un détour. Son nom demeure associé dans l'histoire de la linguistique russe à celui de Potebnja, considéré comme son maître. Cette conviction ainsi que la méconnaissance de ses œuvres, jamais republiées après sa mort en 1920, nous poussent à entreprendre une nouvelle analyse de sa pensée à partir des textes d'origine, qui nous permettra d'expliciter ses liens avec les penseurs cités ci-dessus. Nous nous intéresserons plus particulièrement à l'interprétation des thèses de Humboldt par Ovsjaniko-Kulikovskij. Le «courant psychologique», notion souvent employée dans l'histoire de la linguistique pour désigner l'approche de Potebnja et d'Ovsjaniko-Kulikovskij, réunit des conceptions bien différentes. L'originalité de l'approche de ce dernier se révèle avant tout dans sa manière d'interpréter les idées de Humboldt et de Potebnja. To begin with, this population is divided into two sets: those who save by themselves to pay for the cost of their migration, and those who pool their savings with the savings of another would-be migrant to pay for the cost. Saving jointly brings forward the timing of migration: funds needed to pay for the migration of one of the co-savers can be accumulated more quickly, enabling him, using his higher income at destination than at origin, to speed up the migration of his co-saver. However, people may hesitate to save jointly for fear that a co-saver who is the first to migrate might fail to keep his part of the agreement. We show that an increase in the cost of migration stimulates the formation of co-financing, joint-saving arrangements that enable would-be migrants to cushion the impact of the increase. The evolution of joint-saving arrangements can create a time window during which the intensity of migration need not decrease: no fewer people (and conceivably even more of them) will migrate during a time interval that follows the increase in the cost. The syntheses and crystal structures, refined by powder X-ray diffraction, are reported for M6Ni16Si7, where M = Mg, Sc, Ti, Nb, and Ta. All compounds form in the Mg6Cu16Si7 structure type. Resistance measurements are also reported on M6Ni16Si7 (M = Mg, Sc, Ti, and Nb) down to 0.3 K, with all four showing metallic conductivity. No superconductivity is observed.
