A lack of knowledge about social entrepreneurship makes it impossible to address the issues that young people in developing nations confront, such as unemployment, poverty, environmental issues and societal issues for which the government is unable to offer a solution. Social entrepreneurship will improve national economic growth by overcoming several economic challenges. This study used a qualitative research design in which eleven semi-structured interviews were conducted to get rich data from MBA students. The thematic analysis was conducted to obtain the findings related to the social entrepreneurial intention of the students. The study’s findings showed that students are enthusiastic about choosing social entrepreneurship as a career. It is observed that optimism and self-efficacy were equally important in building social entrepreneurial purpose, but the fear of failure frequently caused students to be less resilient. Despite possessing social capital, financial capital, and entrepreneurial education, psychological capital must still be prioritized.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The animistic ideological identity of the Kalasha community in Chitral holds a global prominence and recognition that dates back to centuries, but in recent decades their indigenous identity and norms have been under a consistent spell of exclusivist identity projection, leaving their distinctive identity norms and animistic cultural values at the peril of hovering extinction. The study initially builds on the ongoing religiously influenced national identity formation in Pakistan aiming further to highlight the systematic causes of the Kalasha community's endangered indigenous identity decline, using the lens of Identity Subordination theory’. The paper aims to unveil how exclusive identity formation through incentivized stratagems is being perpetuated against the community by the dominant religious Sunni (Clerical) group. The paper finally proposes the need for the adoption and implementation of inclusive attitudes and actions, along with much-needed measures both at the grassroots and state level for combatting the ethno-terrorism carried out against the Kalasha identity and indigenous culture.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Infrastructural development plays a vital role in the socioeconomic development of the country. However, sometimes it causes development-induced displacement that results in trauma for displaced community and creates challenges for them. In this vein, the current paper aims to explore challenges and prospects of development-induced development of the M-4 project where in 3674 persons were affected from Gojra to Shorkot. A qualitative stance was adopted to account the actual experiences of the Projected Affected Persons (PAPs), whose families were displaced due to M-4 project. A total of twelve Focus Group Discussions (FDGs) were conducted. In which 93 Project Affected Persons (PAPs) participated. Thematic analysis was carried out to draw major themes. It was found that the affected families faced many social cultural and economic challenges while being displaced from their owned assets. The Project Affected Persons families became homeless and landholders became landless. Their source of livelihood vanished and they felt hard to change their means of livelihood. It is suggested that the government and other funding agencies should play their vibrant role in the diminution of the challenges they are still facing in bringing themselves back into mainstream society.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research question addressed in this paper is how nuclearization of IOR by India can have negative implications for South Asian strategic stability? With the help of major powers through Military Logistic Support Agreements and by being a member of alliances like Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, India will have access to more sophisticated technologies in the IOR. This Indian naval nuclear and military exceptionalism will assist India to use coercive strategies and nuclear blackmail vis-à-vis Pakistan. This will negatively impact strategic stability between India and Pakistan. Pakistan will have to consequently acquire assured second-strike capability as well as, invest in antisubmarine warfare capabilities including swarms of unmanned underwater vehicles controlled by artificial intelligence. The findings indicate that as India will not revise its naval nuclear ambitions, Pakistan must work for a progressing economic outlook so that it can opt for assured second strike capability in the future. The research methodology utilized in this article is qualitative. Both primary and secondary sources of data were employed in this research. Interviews were conducted for the collection of primary data.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used both primary and secondary data to achieve the study's main objectives. The five most frequently flood-affected villages were selected for the data collection. To investigate the anthropogenic causes of flash floods 310 carefully designed questionnaires were filled by the representatives of different sections of the local community. The study finds that in the opinion of 33% of the respondents’ intense rainfall in the watershed mainly causes flash floods in the area. Similarly6% of the investigated people claim that flash floods in the area are due to heavy thunderstorms in the spring and summer seasons. About 33% of the inquired community is of the view that human encroachment and unplanned infrastructure are the main causes of flash floods in the Watalai floodplain. Likewise, 8% of the sample population reveals that flash floods are caused in the area due to an increase in population. However, in addition to the responses regarding the causes of flash floods from the community, other factors like the piped culverts and low height bridges are also causes of flash floods in the study area. The analysis of the study area's spatial images shows that the water channel's sharp angles, the low permeable mountainous region, steep slopes and the deposition of sediment load were the reason for high flow and flash floods.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the current study was to look at the relationships between perceived stress, resilience, and spiritual intelligence. The total sample of the current study was comprised of 200 Peshawar university students (N=200). One hundred (n=100) were males, and one hundred (n=100) were females. The sample was approached from various universities of Peshawar. For the collection of data a research tool, the spiritual intelligence self-report inventory (SISRI) along with Brief resilience scale (BRS) and Perceived stress scale (PSS) were administered both individually and in groups. The study's findings clearly illustrated a moderately negative link between spiritual intelligence and perceived stress (=-.426**) and a moderately positive correlation between spiritual intelligence and resilience (=.163*). While with respect to male and female differences in spiritual intelligence (t=1.20, p=.231) and perceived stress (t=1.55, p=.122) have been obtained. The linear regression analysis shows that spiritual intelligence predicts statistically significant at p.05 with a variance R2 of.181 and an adjusted R2 of.177, and it also predicts resilience at .05 with a variance R2 of.26 and an adjusted R2 of 0.22. Similarly, results show that perceived stress and resilience are predicted by spiritual intelligence. In light of the findings, it is inferred that spiritual intelligence and resilience are positively correlated, while perceived stress and spiritual intelligence are negatively correlated. Spiritual IQ and perceived stress did not show any conclusive gender differences. However, students' perceptions of stress and spiritual IQ were slightly higher for female students.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper draws on the findings of a survey of 300 miners working in the active emerald mines of Swat Valley. The survey was conducted to develop descriptive statistical data about various aspects of miners’ work. However, this paper descriptively presents the findings about the non-use of health and safety equipment in the mines. We sampled 300 gemstone miners from Swat Valley through a convenient sampling technique. The study finds that miners only use protective shoes, hard hats, and, occasionally, hearing conservation. They never use reusable respirators, half-facepiece respirators, full-facepiece respirators, air respirators, push-to-fit earplugs, reusable earplugs, earmuffs, and protective eyewear, thus making them vulnerable to injuries and casualties. Similarly, miners rarely use filter facepiece respirators, disposable respirators, power air-purifying respirators, foam earplugs, and reflective materials as limited to one of a hundred individuals. The use of modern protective equipment could only be ensured if the government takes strict action for the implementation of state policies about mining and by extending financial support and provision of safety equipment at the doorstep of miners.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The shocks in the cost of living badly affect emerging economies like Pakistan. This study provides a novel analysis of the impact of “different types of living costs” on the demand and supply of the textile industry of Pakistan. It used the Structural Vector Autoregressive (SVAR) model to analyze the impact of the shocks in cost of living on textile industry demand and supply using monthly data from July 2008 to June 2020. The study's findings suggest that rising energy, housing, clothing, and footwear cost weaken demand for the textile sector, mostly through lower purchasing power. While education costs diminish supply, food costs raise producer price index, and transportation costs have no effect. Our findings contribute to the body of knowledge and give vital information on which types of living costs affect the textile sector and which might lead to improvement. The study's findings aid in the establishment of strategies for the textile industry's long-term viability and development. Furthermore, the study provides a novel insight that not all sorts of costs are detrimental to the textile industry.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135082885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A convenience sampling method was used to gather data from N=300 respondents, aged 19 to 28, from various postgraduate colleges and universities. Of these, 147 men and 153 women, in equal numbers, were males (n=147) and females (n=153). Self-reported questionnaires were used to assess emotional reactivity, self-esteem, and body shaming. The regression and Pearson correlation analyses supported the findings by demonstrating that body shaming significantly lowers young adults' self-esteem. Additionally, a link between body shaming and emotional reactivity was discovered. Males and females scored significantly differently on emotional reactivity, with females scoring higher, according to the t-test analysis. These findings have significant implications for mental health interventions and support programs in the Malakand region because they highlight the damaging effects of body shaming on young adults' self-esteem and emotional well-being.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083341","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a proportional allocation approach, 353 households were randomly selected from a total of 4,270 in the sampling frame. Data was collected through interviews, with the study's conceptual framework featuring one independent variable (Community organization) and one dependent variable (Disaster vulnerability), both measured on a three-level Likert Scale. The analysis, employing chi-square tests, revealed significant associations. Disaster vulnerability demonstrated a highly significant relationship with community organization during flood seasons (p=0.000), facilitation of social organization by NGOs, democratic election of disaster management committees, representation of all vulnerable groups in committees, and inclusion of various castes and sects in community organizations. Furthermore, disaster vulnerability exhibited a highly significant correlation with decisions made by disaster management committees, incorporating suggestions from vulnerable groups, prioritizing vulnerability groups, informing community members of committee decisions, and having women represented in committees. The study's findings underscore the importance of establishing and updating community participation guidelines for disaster management, ensuring active involvement of all stakeholders in planning and executing disaster management initiatives, promoting awareness and capacity building in participatory disaster management approaches, and fostering partnerships with NGOs, donors, and government agencies to secure financial and technical support.","PeriodicalId":345444,"journal":{"name":"CARC Research in Social Sciences","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135083346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
