The corresponding values of membership functions in the fuzzy mechanism can be auto-regulated in accordance with the immediate change of system's error. Compared with the traditional fuzzy controller with fixed parameters, such an adaptive fuzzy controller can generate appropriate force to control the system. Not only the steady state error of the system can effectively be eliminated, but also the problems of over-shoot and transient response can be significantly improved. By measuring the magnetic flux differences on the fixed tooth track using two coiled devices aligned 90 degrees out of phase, the position and direction information of the moving platform can be obtained. To increase the resolution 16 times its original tooth pitch, a novel non-sinusoidal waveform interpolation technique is employed. The proposed sensing system is designed, fabricated and implemented on a linear variable reluctance motor platform. Results show that the proposed sensing system can produce reliable position information with high accuracy and repeatability, and at high pulse output rate. Due to the fatigue and speed requirement, manual inspection is ineffective to inspect every printed circuit board. Hence, this paper presents an efficient algorithm for an automated visual PCB inspection system that is able to automatically detect and locate any defect on PCBs. The defect is detected by utilizing wavelet-based image difference algorithm. The coarse resolution defect localization algorithm, is also presented. The coarse resolution defect localization algorithm is applied to the coarse resolution differenced image in order to locate the defective area on the fine resolution tested PCB image. In addition, the performance of the algorithm is evaluated to verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm in term of computation time. This new method turned out to be computationally less intensive than traditional image difference operation. One conclusion from this paper is that the second level Haar wavelet transform should be chosen for the application of automated visual PCB inspection.","PeriodicalId":344984,"journal":{"name":"2002 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2002. The compensator is composed of a pole-placement controller and a gray predictor. First, the pole-placement controller is designed according to the linearized model of the tent map. The state error of the linear model can be predicted by the gray system theory. The control signal can be appropriately adjusted in advance and the control performance can be meliorated at the same time. We present here KUKA's new range of simulation tools based on visual components, in which complexity of 3D simulation is encapsulated and hidden from typical end users. Many innovative features, like dragging and dropping from an e-catalogue and an easy to use and learn teach environment, have been successfully implemented. With this simulation tools users find right level of functionality to accomplish their respective tasks. One of our goals was to develop an integration methodology based on the Web-Based Manufacturing translators to produce reusable VRML assembly components and Simulation. Virtual Reality (VR) can be handled as improved animation operated by a simulation system. Manufacturing basically comprises some basic classes of engineering tasks, these tasks could benefit from the application of VR through the high-fidelity visualizations, providing model and situation representation in the 3D space, and the power of interactive handling of large data sets in real-time or near real-time. The underlying principles of VR via VRML are described and applications in design and manufacturing tasks are illustrated by assembly planning and intelligent robotic examples. In order to improve the system stability, virtual couplings have been used to separate the haptic display from virtual environment simulations. A static virtual coupling can improve system stability but unfortunately degrades realistic performance of the system. This improved concept, named adaptive virtual coupling, is designed such that its parameters can be adjusted to maximize realistic performance while ensuring stability. Each wheel of cell is driven by a two degree-of-freedom mechanism. The FCS can handle multiple objects independently and simultaneously. The position and direction of a targeted object are directly controlled based on the summation of driving force and moment from the supporting cells. Importantly, the behavior-based control with subsumption architecture is applied to control the direction of driving force of supporting cells and to manipulate an object towards its desired position. The collision avoidance among objects is also implemented under the behavior-based control. The voltage stress of each power semiconductor of the adopted rectifier is equal to half dc bus voltage instead of full dc link voltage in the conventional switching mode rectifier. A voltage control scheme without current sensor is employed to track the line current command. The control signals of the power switches are derived from the dc link voltage controller and neutral point voltage compensator. A carrier-based PWM scheme is employed to draw a clean sinusoidal line current, high input power factor, regulated dc link voltage and balance capacitor voltages. Three voltage levels are generated on the ac terminal of the adopted rectifier.
