Automatic vehicle classification is one of the most critical subsystems, as it is responsible for the validation of vehicle categories on electronic toll collection. Vehicle classification needs to reach a high success rate, and in real applications, it is achieved by using several intrusive sensors and sophisticated algorithms. This paper proposes a novel classification method based on binary images of vehicle profiles extracted from a non-intrusive optical barrier sensor. We used a modified AlexNet convolutional neural network as a vehicle classification algorithm. The last layers of the network were modified to the vehicle classification domain. We used transfer learning and data augmentation techniques. The method was tested using 11233 images grouped into a set of 11 categories. Results achieved 98.02% accuracy, which indicates that replacing a set of intrusive sensors by only an optical barrier may be a feasible vehicle classification alternative.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"15 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122365798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, it is performed a 3D numerical analysis of the behavior of a laminar and fully developed flow of a conducting fluid in a duct. Finite Volume Method was used for numerical calculations. Along the initial section of the duct, there are magnets placed around the duct producing magnetic fields in the radial direction. Varying the orientation and intensity of the magnetic fields, two effects are considered: the influence of magnetic field intensity on flow velocity and magnetic field induction due to flow velocity. The analysis is performed at different points along the duct, covering both regions with and without magnets. It was found that the mentioned effects are significant for a particular arrangement of magnets, and for high magnetic fields.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132609384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Algumas soluções existem para a resolução deste problema, quando se opera em ambientes a céu aberto, dada a facilidade em se utilizar recursos como o Sistema de Posicionamento Global (GPS- Global Positioning System), mas quando se trata de estacionamentos cobertos essa ação ainda encontra vários obstáculos como a interferência entre os sinais próximos. O presente estudo apresenta um sistema inteligente para estacionamento em ambiente coberto capaz de indicar uma vaga para o usuário estacionar o veículo e também oriente quanto ao local de estacionamento no retorno do usuário.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116897017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of DGs in these systems brings benefits and challenges. One of these challenges is the effect of DGs on overcurrent protection. This paper contains simulation results when inserting DG in a test system - IEEE 13 bars. For this, overcurrent protection devices were incorporated into the original system, in the places where DGs were inserted, for an evaluation of the network's behavior. The impact of these DGs was evaluated in the application of symmetrical three-phase faults in specific locations of the system, for a given DG size. An analysis of current variation, selectivity and protection coordination was performed in numerical and graphical form, in 2 different scenarios. From the results obtained, it was observed that new adjustments for the protection devices must be considered, so that the system remains correctly protected with the inclusion of DGs.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116904395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The behavior of the transducer is affected by the pre-stress and can be identified through of the impedance curves, mostly by the resonance deviations. In this work, we have proposed a circuit that allow us to know if the pre-stress is kept at a suitable level after the transducer operation. This circuit works based on the relation of pre-stress to phase difference between voltage and current in the transducer. The circuit provides an electric signal whose duty cycle and the average voltage can be used to identify small variations of pre-stress. The tests were conducted in three transducers originally pre-stressed at a reference level (52.8 MPa). Afterwards, the pre-stressing was deliberately degraded in 8.1 MPa and the tests repeated. The sensitivity of the system was around 0.23 V/MPa. The circuit is simple, low cost and can be used out of specialized laboratories.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131006289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By comparing both kinds of equipment it is possible to acknowledge the main advantage of including some extra IGBTs, and the proper balance control of the Capacitor Voltages. The SAPF control is based on the Instantaneous Power Theory (P-Q Theory) and has as the main objective to calculate the reference current, responsible for the harmonic compensation, that will be generated by a single-phase inverter in series with an Inductor. As it was considered the higher harmonic distortion for the voltage source, according to the PRODIST norm of ANEEL, and the IEEE Std 519, a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) was appropriatelly designed in order to obtain a perfect sinusoidal reference to be used with the SAPF control. Additionally, different switching strategies were considered for both type of inverters and a particular one is proposed for the single-phase NPC five-level inverter in order to have equal DC link capacitor voltages. Finally, after different simulations, the principal conclusions of this research are shown.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133798742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The GAPID gains are defined to be relative to the PID gains in order to inherit the same design requiremets. This results a total of six parameters to be defined using the optimization algorithms. To determine the quality of the results obtained by the optimizers, evaluation metrics based on the Integral of Absolute Error (IAE) were used to determine the fitness of the solutions found. Entre várias meto-dologias, as que envolvem o emprego de sensores inerciais têm se tornado viáveis em virtude do baixo custo destes dispositivos. Em consequência do emprego de sensores inerciais é preciso estabelecer estratégias que contornem alta sensibilidade a perturbações e erros inerentes a estes dispositivos. Em trabalhos anteriores deste grupo de pesquisa, foram realizadas estimativas angulares no plano sagital. Neste trabalho, foi utilizado a fusão de sinais na abordagem complementar de sensores inerciais através de um sistema Markoviano que escolhe o sensor mais confiável a cada instante e utiliza um filtro de Kalman para compensar os erros de desvio do giroscópio. Assim, tal sistema realizou a estimativa de atitude para os segmentos de um exoesqueleto de membro inferior, tendo apresentado correlação superior a 0.98 para os segmentos da coxa e canela, e erro médio inferior a 1.47o em ambos os segmentos, quando considerado o plano de maior movimento. Também verificou-se que o segmento do tronco apresentou baixa amplitude de movimento, e portanto a relação sinal/ruído foi inferior aos demais segmentos, ocasionando maior desvio de estimativa no segmento do tronco.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123868499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This equipment is subject to various types of faults that can affect its components, in some cases also compromising its operation and, consequently, the electric power supply. Thus, in this paper, electromagnetic, thermal and structural analysis of power transformers is carried out with the objective of providing the operator with information on the ideal moment for performing predictive maintenance, avoiding unplanned shutdowns. For this, computational simulations were performed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and, from that, the different situations to which these types of equipment can be submitted, nominal currents and short-circuit current were analyzed. In this perspective, analyses of the effects that axial and radial forces exerted were carried out, contributing to possible defects in these types of equipment. As a study object, simulations were carried out on a 50MVA single phase transformer. It is important to emphasize that the simulations were validated with real data of measurements and with results presented in current literature.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128714676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
