A microrrede considerada neste trabalho é composta por um agrupamento de cargas definido, um sistema de geração solar com 200kWp de potência instalada e um sistema de armazenamento com baterias de íons de lítio de 250kW de potência e 560kWh de capacidade total. A formulação do problema de otimização é realizada utilizando a abordagem de programação linear inteira mista. Neste contexto, o modelo de controle MPC é implementado considerando um horizonte de previsão de 24 horas, com o objetivo de determinar os níveis de potência que o sistema de armazenamento deve fornecer ou absorver para garantir a operação ótima da microrrede. Com isso, para avaliar o desempenho do controle proposto são realizadas simulações considerando os limites operacionais com diferentes curvas de geração solar e condições iniciais para o estado de carga do sistema de armazenamento.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129508649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting converter aggregates some interesting advantages, e.g., both the input current and the current through the output stage are continuous with low ripple. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of the Ćuk-buck converter is derived, showing that the circuit is suitable for high step-down applications. Simulation results obtained with PSIM® software are presented and discussed to demonstrate the accuracy of the theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128635791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electrical breakdowns cost millions of USD to heavy industries every year. When machines operate, static charges start accumulating on the shaft’s surface and eventually reach the (breakdown) threshold level if not properly grounded. This phenomenon results in the electrical breakdown of machine and it is also a basis of human causalities. Two conventional methods, i.e., Carbon Brush Method and Bristle Brush Method, dissipate these charges, but they last only between 6-14 days. This paper unveils a novel way of dissipating these charges to provide a convenient and long-term solution. To keep the developed voltage due to the accumulation of static charges to a negligible level, constant provision of the conductive copper woven sheet is ensured around the shaft. When the voltage starts rising after some time due to the excessive use of copper sheet, a fresh part of the sheet is automatically rolled on the shaft without stopping the machine. This phenomenon restricts the voltage level to a bearable limit, and electrical breakdown is prevented. Furthermore, this way is cheaper than the conventional methods and avoid wear and tear of the shaft’s surface due to less friction. The proposed method is also a safer approach because it is free of human interaction with the machine due to actuators’ use. It decreases the chances of occupational deaths of workers caused by electrification.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127140698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nano-generators are devices capable of converting mechanical energy, as vibrations, into electricity in a innovative and renewable way at low cost. In this work, the authors studied the addition of a steel spring to triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) on the performance of its output power. Here, TENGs were built by using ZnO nanorods as donating electrons and PDMS:GO composites as negative material. PDMS:GO composites were prepared at different concentrations and the study was carried out in a wide frequency range (45 to 250 Hz). The addition of a steel spring to design of the TENG, as well as, 4% weight GO to PDMS improved the performance of the device. A power density around 246 mW m−2 , and output voltage of 4 V were obtained at 60 Hz. TENG’s ability to collect vibration energy from the wall of transformers and transform it into electrical energy is discussed based on the vibration frequencies obtained at different external points of transformers and performance of the devices.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130817201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A global interest in the transition to more efficient electric motors is being adopted in more countries through the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), including Brazil, in which the minimum efficiency class level from August 2019 is the IE3 class, published in 2017 by Interministerial Ordinance No. 1. Considering the new energy scenario and aiming at new editions with greater efficiencies as minimum requirements, the present work presents a study of the voltage unbalance with under and overvoltage impacts on the performance of a Line Start Permanent Magnet Motor (LSPMM). The results show that the voltage unbalance with under voltages results in improvements in relation to the power factor, however voltage unbalance also results in increases in current harmonic distortion, therefore, this parameter must be analysed in systems with unbalance percentages greater than 1%.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128843948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The movement of the plates will be carried out by a DC motor that will be attached to the structure that it supports. Thus, the aim is to develop the control system for the motor activation in closed loop using MATLAB/Simulink associated with the FPGA as an auxiliary platform. The system measures current drawn by the motor through a current sensor that sends the analog signal to a microcontroller. This microcontroller then samples and digitizes the measurements. Subsequently, a Wi-Fi module sends the digital data to a cloud platform, where they are stored in databases and can be accessed through a web page. Additionally, for the first time, the measured data stored in the cloud are used as inputs to Finite Element numerical models to simulate the operation of the motor being monitored. The purpose of numerical simulations is to obtain extra information that is not gathered by sensors, allowing one to have a deeper understanding of the condition of the monitored apparatus. This information also gives a better diagnosis of the motor operational condition and thus one can estimate the lifespan of a motor and when it will need maintenance.","PeriodicalId":344476,"journal":{"name":"2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121521734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
