{"title":"Formation of Neologisms Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic on Croatian Websites","authors":"Tanja Brešan Ančić, Petra Božanić","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.4","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.4","url":null,"abstract":"The COVID-19 virus pandemic affected all spheres of human life, including the language in which new words, phrases and idioms appeared in response to the emerging situation. These new terms as a linguistic reflection of a pandemic are quickly becoming part of our daily vocabulary. Therefore, it is important to investigate which new words and expressions entered the active lexis of the Croatian language. Given that the media played a key role in informing the population about everyday events related to the pandemic, lexical innovations as a reflection of the corona virus on Croatian websites are analysed in this paper. The main source are website articles. This research analyses the words related to coronavirus pandemics from the word formation perspective. In other words, the aim is to determine the most frequent word formation patterns which are used while forming new words. The analysis focuses on word formation processes of neologisms related to the COVID-19 pandemic: prefixation, suffixation, compounding, blending, analogy formation, language borrowing and calques. The research results show that the most productive formation method is compounding with the component korona and the abbreviation COVID. Furthermore, analogy formation is frequently found, as well as numerous examples of language borrowing, especially in the form of literal calques. It is clear that the Croatian media discourse accepts and creates neologisms quickly, depending on communication needs, and thus impacts their application among the wider population and within public discourse in general. Although traditional formation methods such as affixation or compounding were confirmed, the research showed that the Croatian media discourse quickly accepts formation methods which are not typical for it. U njemu je povećana odgovornost izgovorene zastupničke riječi u »istinitosti i djelotvornosti, u društvenoj korisnosti i opravdanosti, u toleranciji i etici, u estetici i govorno-jezičnoj ispravnosti te u kulturi uopće« (Škarić, 2000: 9). Kako općenito u javnosti, tako i u Hrvatskome saboru govornik ne govori samo u svoje ime, već i u ime svojih birača, zastupa nekoga ili govori kao član neke skupine. Zbog svega toga odgovoran je prema kolektivu koji predstavlja, i to treba pokazati svojim istupima i u sadržajnome i u izvedbenome smislu.Autorice su svoje zanimanje usmjerile na izvedbenu razinu, točnije govorno-jezični iskaz hrvatskih saborskih zastupnika. Kako se istraživanje provodilo u povodu 170. godišnjice prvoga zastupničkog govora na hrvatskome jeziku, u radu se analiziraju odstupanja u govorno-jezičnome iskazu zastupnika 7. saziva Hrvatskoga sabora. Kao javni govornici, bez obzira na svoje podrijetlo ili stupanj obrazovanja, zastupnici bi trebali biti jezično kompetentni i biti primjerom uzorne uporabe hrvatskoga standardnog jezika. U tome pogledu, autorice popisuju i opisuju odstupanja 50-ero saborskih govornika od hrvatskoga standardnog jezika u jedanaest sati rasprave o nekoliko prijedloga zakona, i to na svim jezičnim razinama: fonetsko-fonološkoj, morfološkoj, tvorbenoj, leksičkoj, sintaktičkoj i stilističkoj. U drugome dijelu istraživanja izdvojeni su zanimljiviji primjeri odstupanja u zastupničkim iskazima. {"title":"Prednosti provedbe e-kolokvija iz engleskoga jezika struke","authors":"Brankica Bošnjak Terzić, Olinka Breka, Snježana Kereković","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.7","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.7","url":null,"abstract":"U radu se predstavlja e-kolegij iz tehničkoga engleskog jezika, osmišljen na jednome tehničkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, s posebnim osvrtom na e-kolokvij i prednosti provedbe e-kolokvija u okviru e-kolegija. Provedeno je istraživanje čiji je cilj bio utvrditi stavove studenata o sadržajima koji se nude na e-kolegiju, tj. o dodatnim online zadatcima za uvježbavanje nastavnoga sadržaja koji se na kraju semestra ispituje e-kolokvijem te o probnome e-kolokviju, kao i prikupiti i analizirati iskustva studenata s pisanjem e-kolokvija. Rad donosi i usporedbu rezultata koje su studenti postigli na e-kolokviju s rezultatima tradicionalnoga kolokvija (papirolovka) koji je proveden godinu ranije. Rezultati su istraživanja pokazali da studenti imaju pozitivan stav prema e-vrednovanju i ostalim aktivnostima koje su ponuđene u okviru e-kolegija, a oblik su formativnoga vrednovanja. {"title":"Grammar and Spelling Choices in Contemporary Croatian Language Textbooks","authors":"Jadranka Nemeth-Jajić","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.8","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.8","url":null,"abstract":"The language in textbooks should comply with the standard language norm more strictly, which results from the requirement to respect functional and stylistic features of textbook style, which is a substyle of scientific functional style, and from laws and bylaws regulating the requirements and standards for the development of textbooks as teaching resources. Different reasons, however, sometimes lead to different, yet normatively allowed linguistic and spelling solutions, that is, there is a possibility of choice. This paper discusses such, normatively allowed choices, which have been confirmed in contemporary Croatian language textbooks, developed according to the new curriculum since 2019. We tried to determine which certified grammar and spelling choices were confirmed in the textbooks and how much they follow the normative recommendations found in the grammar and spelling manuals published by the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics, given that these manuals were approved for school use. Attention is paid to the use of movable/optional vowel (‘navezak’) in the declension of adjectival words (words functioning as adjectives), the use of enclitics ju/je, non-contracted and contracted forms of possessive pronouns and the reflexive-possessive pronoun, the declension of the numbers dva, tri and četiri, the position of enclitics in a sentence, writing the diphthong after a consonant group ending in r (‘pokriveno r’), writing nouns ending in dac, -dak, -tac, -tak, -tka and writing the negative particle ne with the enclitic form of the verb htjeti, Although the analyzed textbooks, as expected, to a large extent include the recommended choices complying with the norm, there are still differences in the consistency of the application of the rules, even within the same textbook, with occasional deviations from the prescribed norm. Lava Znidarčića, katoličkoga djelatnika, hrvatskoga uznika i dugogodišnjega predsjednika Velikoga križarskog bratstva, vodeće katoličke organizacije u tadašnjoj Kraljevini Jugoslaviji. Dužnost predsjednika Velikoga križarskog bratstva (VKB-a) obnašao je od 1942. do 1945. godine kada ga je izabrao, a potom i potvrdio zagrebački nadbiskup dr. Alojzije Stepinac. Bio je predsjednik VKB-a sve do njegova raspuštanja 1945. godine, ali ga je potajno vodio sve do 1993. godine kada njegovo predsjedanje preuzima dr. sc. Petar Kraljević, prof. Dr. Lav Znidarčić rodio se 14. kolovoza 1918. u Splitu u tradicionalnoj katoličkoj obitelji. Iako kršćanski odgajan, jedan dio njegove obitelji prihvatio je marksističku ideologiju i ateistički svjetonazor.Dr. Lav Znidarčić od najranije se mladosti opredijelio za Orlovsku organizaciju u kojoj je već 1926. postao njezinim aktivnim članom. Nakon što je Šestosiječanjskom diktaturom 1929. njezin rad bio zabranjen, početkom 1930. aktivno se uključio u osnivanje i rad Križarske organizacije. {"title":"Dubrovački poklisari – posrednici između lokalne zajednice i anžuvinskoga dvora","authors":"Valentina Šoštarić","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.9","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.9","url":null,"abstract":"U članku se analizira uloga dubrovačkih poklisara koji su imali važno mjesto u uspostavi i održavanju veza između njihova rodnoga grada i anžuvinskoga dvora. Posredovali su u komunikaciji između središta moći i lokalne zajednice, pri čemu su svoj povlašteni položaj koristili za stjecanje osobnih probitaka. Višesmjerni odnosi u kojima su sudjelovali promatraju se kao važne poluge koje su utjecale na (re)oblikovanje društveno-političke stvarnosti u kojoj su „centar moći“ i „periferija“ djelovali i međusobno se prožimali. Pritom je važno promotriti aktivnosti poklisara u konfliktnim situacijama koje su se javljale među akterima u trokutu Ludovik I. Anžuvinac – poslanici – dubrovačka vlastela.Konstitutivne historiografske analize posvećene odnosima moći usmjerene su na analizu pitanja kako središnji organi vlasti kontroliraju i upravljaju perifernim strukturama. Takva perspektiva izučavanja odnosa središta moći i periferije „odozgo“ prema „dolje“ ne uviđa važnost osobnih veza individua koje su djelovale kao vezivno tkivo među političkim subjektima koji su se razlikovali svojim hijerarhijskim položajem. Moć nije bila rezervirana isključivo za osobu vladara, već je bila zamjetna na različitim razinama društvenoga života i političkoga djelovanja. Pritom istaknuto mjesto dobivaju pojedinci koji svoj položaj, između ostaloga, mogu pripisati uspostavljenim osobnim kontaktima s utjecajnim osobama svojega vremena.U članku pod povećalo znanstvenoga interesa stavljam interpersonalne kontakte dubrovačkih diplomata koji su bili spona između anžuvinskoga dvora i dubrovačke vlade u kritičnome trenutku uspostave međusobnih odnosa pregovorima u Višegradu 1358., ali i u godinama koje su slijedile. U analizi postavljenih pitanja oslanjam se na prozopografsku metodu i teoriju društvenih mreža. Prateći karijerni put izabranih predstavnika općine i analizirajući njihove privatne, bračne i klijentelističke veze, uvidjet ćemo mrežu osobnih kontakata te načine njihova uspostavljanja, održavanja i korištenja, kao i probleme koji su se s vremenom javljali među njezinim članovima. Posebno su važne osobne veze dubrovačkih poklisara koje su bile neizostavan dio njihova privatnoga života, ali i javnoga političkog djelovanja. {"title":"Politička važnost borbi Titovih i Mihailovićevih snaga u Istočnoj Bosni i Sandžaku ujesen 1943. godine","authors":"Vladimir Šumanović, Mijo Beljo","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.10","url":null,"abstract":"U radu se na osnovi arhivskih i objavljenih izvora te relevantne literature opisuju borbe koje su snage komunističkoga pokreta pod vodstvom Josipa Broza Tita, odnosno Narodnooslobodilačke vojske Jugoslavije (NOVJ), vodile protiv monarhističkoga Ravnogorskog četničkog pokreta pod vodstvom Dragoljuba Draže Mihailovića, odnosno Jugoslovenske vojske u otadžbini (JVuO), ujesen 1943. u istočnoj Bosni i Sandžaku. U radu je na temelju njemačkih arhivskih izvora opisan tijek borbi između Titovih i Mihailovićevih snaga u kojima su Titove snage pobijedile. Navedene su borbe imale i međunarodnu važnost jer je nedugo nakon njihova završetka održana konferencija u Teheranu na kojoj je Velika Britanija promijenila svoju dotadašnju politiku. Promjena britanske politike očitovala se u odlukama slanja vojne pomoći isključivo Titovim snagama i povlačenja britanske vojne misije iz Mihailovićevih postrojba. Britanski državni vrh na čelu s Winstonom Churchillom podržao je Tita jer vojna efikasnost NOVJ-a uklapala u britansku strategiju nanošenja što većih gubitaka njemačkim snagama. Usporedno s time, Mihailoviću su obustavljene politička i vojna podrška iz Velike Britanije. U historiografiji su se vodile mnoge polemike o razlozima zbog kojih je Velika Britanija promijenila svoju politiku prema Mihailoviću pri čemu se zanemarivala važnost borbi koje su snage NOVJ-a i JVuO-a vodile ujesen 1943. godine. U dosadašnjoj se literaturi uglavnom zanemarivala činjenica koja se odnosi na to da je jedna od neposrednih posljedica navedenih borbi bila otvorena suradnja JvuO-a s njemačkim snagama na području Sandžaka. Premda je sporazum, koji je s njemačkim snagama u Sandžaku potpisao zapovjednik JvuO-a Vojislav Lukačević, vidljiv iz dostupnih njemačkih izvora i poznat u literaturi, nije stavljen u kontekst prethodnih borbi NOVJ-a i JVuO-a u istočnoj Bosni i Sandžaku, kao ni promjene Churchillove politike prema Mihailoviću. {"title":"Implementation of Contemporary Teaching Methodology Knowledge in Order to Achieve Outcomes in Croatian Language Teaching in Primary Education","authors":"Martina Kolar Billege, Vesna Budinski","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.2","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.2","url":null,"abstract":"The implementation of modern methodological knowledge implies respect for the algorithm of the initial science in the choice of teaching content and a scientifically determined choice of teaching procedures that most effectively enable the achievement of outcomes provided by the curriculum. Methodological articulation should be such that students are active participants in the teaching process, i.e. that they are involved in the language activities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The microstructured model of teaching the Croatian language comprises a motivational introduction, language teaching template, lesson-content announcement, introduction to language occurrences in context, practice, repetition, evaluation of student’ achievement and a sequence for global word memorization.The choice of the methodological system in which the teaching model will be microstructured depends on the teacher’s assessment of what is the optimal correlation between teachers, pupils, content and the methodological template in order to achieve the goal/learning outcomes. This paper describes the correlation between these factors with examples of usual methodological systems in the teaching of the Croatian language. Fourth-year students of the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb (N = 39) observed the teaching process during 70 classes of Croatian language teaching. The aim was to investigate whether teachers implement modern methodological knowledge in the teaching process. The results indicate that 20% of the observed articulations of teaching classes deviate from the methodologically based structure; linguistic-methodological templates (texts intended for teaching language items) are appropriate, but 30% of teachers do not use the provided linguistic methodological templates for teaching a language item. {"title":"Paranoid Religiosity in Jeanette Winterson’s Novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and\u0000Memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be\u0000Normal?","authors":"Janko Andrijašević","doi":"10.38003/zrffs.15.3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.38003/zrffs.15.3","url":null,"abstract":"This paper represents an attempt to give a psycho-religious analysis of the character of Mrs. Winterson, who is the main protagonist of Jeanette Winterson’s debut novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (1985) and her memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? (2011). Mrs. Winterson was the author’s adoptive mother, and was characterized by a pronouncedly idiosyncratic psychology. Here we will try to suggest that Mrs. Winterson had a personality disorder of the paranoid kind, based on the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Edition 5) psychiatric criteria for diagnosing this disorder. Every single criterion will be substantiated by instances and quotes from the two analyzed works. This personality pathology inevitably spilled over into the way she approached religion, practiced it, and imposed it on those around her, primarily on her adoptive daughter. Unlike with some other mental illnesses, it is very difficult to develop healthy religiosity in case one has a personality disorder, due to the proverbial lack of objective selfobservation and meaningful insight into one’s authentic personality. Nevertheless, Mrs. Winterson rigidly and intensely upheld the social and religious values of extremely dubious nature, and instilled them in her daughter. Such direct, strong, and essentially unwholesome parental influence was detrimental for the healthy development of Jeanette Winterson’s personality, which may be corroborated by both of her books, in which she described the same autobiographical story.
