With the onset of the pandemic, professors who had to take distance education faced a severe dilemma that could lead to chaos for the university's educational leaders. In line with the efforts made throughout the country to solve this problem, the need to design a professor support system at Birjand University of Medical Sciences (BUMS) was also felt. Some efforts which were done in BUMS in this regard include: knowledge support, technical support, forming a support group, designing e-learning courses, development of virtual education in laboratory courses, providing preparation for taking student exams in a completely virtual way and development of a system for quantitative and qualitative evaluation of professors' educational performance during the course. As a conclusion, existing a professor support system is a crucial element for academic leaders, especially in a crisis. Besides, the evaluation of professors performance and distinguishing good and poor performance between them is very effective in motivating them and it will lead to more accountability. Obviously, students in this situation also need a student support system so that they could overcome their problems.","PeriodicalId":34243,"journal":{"name":"Future of Medical Education Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":"53-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44110316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regarding this integration has created some problems, the current study intended to provide an effective pattern for improvement of this integration. Methods: The present study is both fundamental and applied in terms of objective. The statistical population of the client study included all of the managers, faculty members and experts in the universities of medical sciences in Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran, who were chosen by the use of full census sampling. Finally, 103 people filled in the questionnaires. The data collection instrument was a researcher-devised questionnaire. The data analysis was done by SPSS Ver.24, the descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, and standard deviation), and the inferential statistics (Pearson Correlation Test). Results: In order to increase the effectiveness of this integration, four scenarios were suggested among which, finally the separation of the medical education from the medical sciences universities and placing under direct supervision of the Minister of Health and Medical Education with 3.84 (based on a maximum score of 4) achieved the highest score. Based on this score, a model based on the upstream laws of Iran was designed and suggested and in each province, instead of having a unit and independent institution under the title of the university of medical sciences and healthcare services, two separate institutions as The Provincial University of Medical Sciences and The Provincial Health Service Organization would be created and would work under the supervision of Minister of Health and Medical Education. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that medical education in the health ministry supervised universities is affected by the discussions of the provision of the health and medical care provision. Therefore, to realize it and improve the educational tasks, production of knowledge, and conducting of research in the universities, and protecting it from other departments, an effective pattern has been suggested.","PeriodicalId":34243,"journal":{"name":"Future of Medical Education Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":"8-15"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42331929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of concept mapping instruction in mobile phones on the creativity of nursing students. Methods: This study was a pretest posttest randomized controlled trial. Sixty eight senior nursing students were selected using the whole enumeration. They were divided equally into the experimental (n=34) and control groups (n=34) by stratified block randomization. In the experimental group, concept mapping instruction was carried out using mobile phones; however, the routine method was used in the control group. Students' creativity was measured by Abedis Creativity Test before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed with SPSS software using the paired t-test and multivariate analysis of covariance. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of demographic characteristics (p > 0.999).The mean total creativity score and the mean scores on all the subscales decreased in both groups in comparison to the pre-intervention scores. The changes in the scores of elaboration (p= 0.046), originality (p= 0.022), and total creativity (p= 0.036) showed a significant difference between the control and experimental groups, but there was not any significant difference between two groups in term of fluency (p = 0.08) and flexibility (p=0.143). Conclusion: Although the easy access of learners to mobile phones made the use of this approach seem useful in students' education, further studies are recommended with higher sample sizes and other creativity assessment instruments.","PeriodicalId":34243,"journal":{"name":"Future of Medical Education Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":"26-31"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43745651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We aimed to develop a blended learning system as part of Birjand University of Medical Sciences (BUMS) Online Learning Management Systems (LMS) to train medical students and residents during COVID-19 pandemics. BUMS is located on the border of neighboring Afghanistan, which suffers from limited medical education infrastructure. In our center, we are processing histopathologic samples with high-quality imaging for other centers. We would report the slides and findings as part of a distance learning program to teach pathology courses to medical students and residents. This plan has an advantage over commercially available software. It would present local cases in the neighboring country, which, similar to our region, has a different prevalence of specific lesions. We will provide the teaching materials in two languages, Persian and English. In light of the COVID-19 pandemics and limited specific pathology education systems, distance learning in pathology would have additional advantages, save time, and maybe inevitable. Ideally, we plan to develop a standard virtual training service focused on pathology medical and educational aspects.","PeriodicalId":34243,"journal":{"name":"Future of Medical Education Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":"56-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45253846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having this in mind, the researchers investigated nursing English for academic purposes (EAP) instructors’ perceptions towards knowledge sharing. In addition, we sought whether ESP instructors’ perceptions towards knowledge sharing predict their professional development. Methods: Ninety four EAP instructors from different medical universities across the country were recruited in the present study. Two questionnaires of ‘EAP instructors’ perception towards knowledge sharing’ scale and ‘a teacher professional development’ were used to gather data. A semi-structured interview was also performed to explore the participants’ opinions regarding the inhibitors to develop teacher learning communities. Results: Based on the findings, the participants did not have a positive view towards knowledge sharing. Furthermore, it was revealed that EAP instructors’ perceptions towards knowledge sharing predict their professional development. As the findings of the semi-structured interview revealed, among other factors, instructors’ lack of incentive, lack of commitment, and their lack of familiarity with the importance of teacher learning communities were the major inhibitors to developing teacher learning communities among EAP instructors. Conclusion: knowledge management can become a rudimentary strategy which may pave the way to personal/professional development. This sheds light on the importance of collaborative work which should take place within an educational setting. Accordingly, some implications have been suggested to encourage knowledge sharing among EAP instructors.","PeriodicalId":34243,"journal":{"name":"Future of Medical Education Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47775467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
