The main factors that contribute in post harvest processing of medicinal plants is a drying method. Drying is the most important step to keep the compound stability in simplisia especially the compounds that have antioxidant activity. The objective of this research is to know the effect of drying method in gaining of antioxidant activity extract methanol Pandanus amaryllifolius leaves. The drying methods tested were oven-drying at 40ºC, direct sunlight-drying (SML), indirect sunlight-drying (SMTL), air-drying at ±25ºC (KA) and fresh samples without drying as control. In the result of analysis with Kruskall-Wallis test show that the drying method of simplisia can influence significantly of percent inhibition extract methanol Pandanus amaryllifolius leaves against DPPH, the highest percent inhibition were by oven-drying of 64,553%, then followed on samples dried with SML, SMTL, KA and fresh samples respectively of 61,73; 58,81; 56,14 dan 55,13%. Faktor utama yang sangat berperan dalam pengolahan pasca panen tanaman obat adalah proses pengeringan. Pengeringan merupakan tahapan penting dalam menjaga kestabilan senyawa dari simplisia terutama senyawa yang mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode pengeringan simplisia terhadap aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak metanol daun pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius). Metode pengeringan yang diuji adalah pengeringan oven pada suhu 40ºC, pengeringan sinar matahari langsung (SML), pengeringan sinar matahari tidak langsung (SMTL), pengeringan kering angin pada suhu ±25ºC (KA) serta sampel segar tanpa pengeringan sebagai kontrol. Hasil analisis menggunakan Uji Kruskall-Wallis menunjukkan bahwa metode pengeringan simplisia dapat berpengaruh secara signifikan pada persen inhibisi ekstrak metanol daun pandan terhadap DPPH, yang mana persen inhibisi tertinggi yaitu pada sampel yang dikeringkan dengan oven sebesar 64,55%, kemudian diikuti pada sampel yang dikeringkan dengan SML, SMTL, KA dan segar masing-masing sebesar 61,73; 58,81; 56,14 dan 55,13%. Roxb with in vitro macrofag phagocytosis method. . Suji is a plant that is often used as a food coloring and has long been used medicinally. This study aimed to test in vitro macrophage phagocytosis on ethanol extract of suji leaf. The suji leaves are extracted by maceration method. The obtained viscous extract was then tested for Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and in vitro macrophage phagocytosis test. The parameters used are Phagocytosis Index and Macrophage Capacity. The results of in vitro macrophage phagocytosis test with 4 concentrations of 10.25,50 and 100 microgram / ml, showed for the largest average Fagocytosis (IF) Index shown at concentration 10 mcg / ml, while concentrations 25 and 50 mcg / ml showed values The same phagocytic (KF) capacity. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan uji fagositosis makrofag in vitro terhadap ekstrak etanol daun suji. Daun suji diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi. Ekstrak kental yang diperoleh kemudian dilakukan uji Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) dan uji fagositosis makrofag in vitro. Parameter yang digunakan adalah Indeks fagositosis dan Kapasitas makrofag. Hasil uji fagositosis makrofag in vitro dengan 4 konsentrasi sebesar 10,25,50 dan 100 mikrogram/ml, menunjukkan untuk Indeks Fagositosis (IF) rata-rata terbesar ditunjukkan pada konsentrasi 10 mcg/ml, sedangkan konsentrasi 25 dan 50 mcg/ml menunjukkan nilai Kapasitas Fagositosis (KF) yang sama besar. The objective of this research are to know antibacterial activity of green algae (Ulva sp.) extracts using different levels of solvent polarity and the most effective concentration inhibits the growth of bacterial Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Green algae (Ulva sp.) extracted by stratified soxletation method using solvent, eq diethyl ether, ethyl acetate, and ethanol 96%. Test antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. This research using the of CRD (Completely Randomize Design) with 7 treatments was concentration of 100 ppm, 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, 1000 ppm, positive control (ciprofloxacin 5µg) and negative control (aquades steril) with 3 repetitions. The data was analyzed using ANOVA and continued by HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) test with 95% confidence level. The result was demonstrated that extract green algae (Ulva sp.) the most effective to inhibits the growth of bacterial Escherichia coli is ethyl acetate extract with concentration 250 ppm (9,26 mm) and bacterial Staphylococcus aureus is ethanol 96% extract with concentration 750 ppm (9,57 mm). Keywords : Ulva sp., antibacterial agent, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus. ABSTRAK Alga hijau (Ulva sp.) berpotensi sebagai antibakteri karena mengandung triterpenoid, flavonoid, dan saponin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak alga hijau (Ulva sp.) yang menggunakan tingkat kepolaran pelarut berbeda dan konsentrasi yang paling efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Alga hijau (Ulva sp.) diekstraksi dengan metode sokletasi bertingkat menggunakan pelarut dietil eter, etil asetat, dan etanol 96%. Uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Penelitian ini menggunakan RAL dengan 7 perlakuan yaitu konsentrasi 100 ppm, 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, 1000 ppm, kontrol positif (ciprofloxasin 5µg) dan kontrol negatif (akuades steril) dengan 3 pengulangan. Data analisis menggunakan ANOVA dan dilakukan uji lanjut BNJ dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Therefore, it is essential to discover new antibiotic compounds from marine resources such as algae. There are numerous of compounds derived from algae with a broad range of biological activities, incluiding antibacterial agent. The objective of this research are to know antibacterial activity of Padina sp. from different solvents on Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella dysenteriae and to know the extract of Padina sp. which most effectively inhibits development of Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella dysenteriae. Stages of this works includes: manufacturing crude drug, extraction by stratified maceration method using solvent, eq diethyl ether, ethyl acetate, and ethanol 96%, screening phytochemical and exameration of antibacterial activity using disc diffusion method. The result was demonstrated that antibacterial activity of extract brown algae Padina sp. have ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella dysenteriae. Several solvent in extraction of Padina sp. provides different antibacterial activity in which antibacterial activity with the better inhibitory zone against Staphylococcus aureus is with ethyl acetate solvent and antibacterial activity with the best inhibitory zone against Shigella dysenteriae with ethanol 96% solvent. The most effective brown algae extract (Padina sp.) on Staphylococcus aureus bacterial is ethyl acetate solvent with 100 ppm concentration of 12,66 mm and Shigella dysenteriae bacterial is ethyl acetate solvent with 250 ppm concentration that is 10,69 mm. Pain is a commonly reported and is caused by increasing uric acid in the blood. Allopurinol is one of the drugs choice for people with gout but that has some side effects so it needs other alternative treatments. Herbal therapy is one type of complementary therapies in nursing, one of which is Muntingia calabura L. The aim of this study was to see the difference in effectiveness of Muntingia calabura L. and allopurinol in reducing uric acid and pain scale in gout patients in Tamalanrea Makassar. This study used an experimental design, randomized two-group design by giving Muntingia calabura L. on 22 respondents and allopurinol 100 mg (twice in one day) in 22 respondents selected by simple random sampling with criterion of sample were pain scale on 1-6 and uric acid value were > 6.5 mg / dl (for female); > 7.5 mg / dl (for male). Giving Muntingia calabura L. for 3 weeks drunk twice in one day. Measurement of pain using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Uric acid level were measured using laboratory tests. The data were analyzed by paired sample t-test for each intervention and by independent t-test to see the effectiveness difference of both therapies with significant level α <0,05. The statistical results showed a decrease in joint pain scale in cherry leaf group (p = 0,00), but no decrease of pain in allopurinol administration (p = 0.07). Both interventions had an effect on decreasing uric acid value (p = 0,00 ) There was a difference in decreasing the pain scale of both interventions but there was no difference to the decrease in uric acid value.It requires further research upon the benefits of Muntingia calabura L. Nyeri tersebut diakibatkan tinginya asam urat dalam darah. Allopurinol salah satu obat pilihan bagi penderita gout tetapi obat tersebut memiliki beberapa efek samping sehingga diperlukan terapi lain selain obat. Terapi herbal adalah salah satu jenis terapi komplementer dalam keperawatan, salah satunya adalah daun kersen. Various researches and developments that take advantage of technological advances are carried out as an effort to improve the quality and safety of products which are expected to further increase confidence in the benefits of medicines derived from nature. This study aims to determine the total content of polyphenols in red gedi leaves, fresh simplicia and dry simplicia and to determine the effect of storage time on the total polyphenol content. This study used a laboratory experimental method with hot extraction (infundation method) using water as a solvent. The filtrate obtained is then concentrated on a rotary evaporator. After testing, the results showed that the highest total flavonoid content was found in fresh red Gedi leaf extract (1686.5 mg / Kg), followed by dry Gedi Merah leaf extract (1666 mg / Kg). As for the infusion of fresh Gedi Merah leaves (1002 mg / Kg) and dry Gedi Merah leaf infusion (518.5 mg / Kg). while the highest total tannin content was found in dry Gedi Merah leaf extract (7779 mg / Kg), followed by fresh Gedi Merah leaf extract (3084 mg / Kg). As for the infusion of dry Gedi Merah leaves (1429 mg / Kg) and fresh Gedi Merah infusion (499 mg / Kg). ABSTRAKPengembangan Obat tradisonal diusahakan agar dapat sejalan dengan pengobatan modern. Berbagai penelitian dan pengembangan yang memanfaatkan kemajuan teknologi dilakukan sebagai upaya peningkatan mutu dan keamanan produk yang diharapkan dapat lebih meningkatkan kepercayaan terhadap manfaat obat yang berasal dari alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan total polifenol yang terdapat pada daun gedi Merah simplisia segar dan simplisia kering serta mengetahui pengaruh lama penyimpanan terhadap kandungan total polifenol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen laboratorium dengan ekstraksi cara panas (metode infundasi) dengan menggunakan pelarut air. Filtrat yang didapat kemudian dipekatkan pada rotary evaporator. Setelah dilakukan pengujian maka didapatkan hasil bahwa kandungan total flavonoid tertinggi terdapat pada ekstrak daun Gedi merah segar (1686.5 mg/Kg), diikuti dengan ekstrak daun Gedi Merah kering (1666 mg/Kg). Sedangkan untuk infus daun Gedi Merah segar (1002 mg/Kg) dan infus daun Gedi Merah kering (518.5 mg/Kg). sedangkan Kandungan total tanin tertinggi terdapat pada ekstrak daun Gedi Merah kering (7779 mg/Kg), diikuti dengan ekstrak daun Gedi Merah segar (3084 mg/Kg). Sedangkan untuk infus daun Gedi Merah kering (1429 mg/Kg) dan infus daun Gedi Merah segar (499 mg/Kg). selain itu diketahui juga lama penyimpanan terhadap infus dan ekstrak daun Gedi Merah memiliki pengaruh yang besar terhadap kandungan total polifenol.
