Primarily, the study utilizes the term of the literary-critical field which is considered a complement of the literary field (P. Bourdieu), and primal reception wave (D. Tureček). The extraordinary number of reviews of the bibliotheca, which worked as a general publishing platform for original Czech novels and longer stories for a short time, took place across the whole literary-critical field. The abundant research materials are divided in accordance with the type and focus of the periodicals which make up the individual segments of the field.","PeriodicalId":34160,"journal":{"name":"Bohemica Litteraria","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71331452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interpretation is based on Bakhtin’s chronotope theory, as well as on narratology, which has in recent years increasingly reflected upon the development of functions and forms in narratives from different historical periods. In the time of their appearance the analyzed texts introduced innovations in the concept on narrative time and space. They can be clearly observed in the represented perception of time, which began to demonstrate a higher level of mimesis. Narrators incorporated the chronicler’s perception of time and provided thorough information about the exact timing of events. Space mimetism (forming of topography) is mainly achieved through personification (getting to know the foreign world, for example, is represented as a sexual relationship of knight Bruncvík with the virgins of Europe and Africa; one of the sisters of the maiden Melusine bears the name of Palestine etc.).","PeriodicalId":34160,"journal":{"name":"Bohemica Litteraria","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71331201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The journal took part in the disputes that had taken place in the German literary criticism, concerning the form of Realism in art, and became a focal point where rationally defined, objective criticism was cultivated in the spirit of Enlightenment. While its editor, the German Eduard Schmidt-Weissenfels, in his articles presented a sort of an ideal Realism, which he further specified and favoured instead of the documentary, or „absolute“ Realism (the equivalent of which in today’s theory of literature would be Naturalism), the Czech Ignác Jan Hanuš promoted the critical evaluation of Slavic and Hungarian academic works in addition to those written in German. The Czech-German editorship with its supranational and panaustrian approach strived to create an organ of literary criticism to reflect the science and arts of the cultural space of Central Europe without the limitations of national standpoints. While Schmidt-Weissenfels pointed to Idealism and Romanticism in his programme of Ideal Realism, Hanuš and his collaborators (namely Julius Feifalík) pointed a critical mirror toward the Romantic tradition in Czech literary science by questioning the authenticity of the oldest literary monuments in Czech and the results of Czech literary science, using both the method of rational critihttps://doi.org/10.5817/BL2019-2-3 Zuzana Urválková Časopis Kritische Blätter für Literatur und Kunst (1857–1858) v kontextu soudobých literárněkritických debat bohemica litteraria 22 / 2019 / 2 s t u d ie >> 59 > cism and German science’s strict measures.
