The calculation of the extreme values of RPS is performed on the results of modelling the “ideal” EN modes according to the principle of least action. In order to take into account the economic aspects of the design problem, it is proposed to use economic resistances and obtain mathematical relationships for their determination. In order to take into account the constraints on voltage fluctuations in EN nodes, the extreme power of the RPS is corrected by the results of an additional optimization problem solution. For its formulation, the coefficients of the distribution of losses and elements of the Jacobi sensitivity matrix were used, which made it possible to linearize it. Unlike the methods of searching for variants, the application of such an approach significantly reduces the duration of calculations and allows you to obtain a solution that is as close as possible to the global extremum of the main target function.","PeriodicalId":340150,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121976153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main causes of accidents and violations are thunderous overcharging on overhead lines, causing impulse overlap and destruction of insulators and leading to arc closures, with collateral damage to equipment, line outages. Emergency outages of 6 -35 kV overhead lines due to lightning overvoltages account for up to 40% of the total number of their trips. Due to low impulse strength, insulation of distribution networks is subject to overlapping both from over voltages in direct lightning discharges and from induced overvoltages in the case of lightning near the line. The latter are the main cause of thunderstorm outages and damage to the equipment of 6 -35 kV lines, amounting to 90% in some cases, and when the overhead lines highway passes through the forest and up to 100% of their total number. Thus, reliability of power supply to consumers largely depends on the effectiveness of lightning protection measures.","PeriodicalId":340150,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125199292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This implies shifting of output voltage pulses during the switching period in such a way that the switching period always starts with the pulse having maximum amplitude, then goes a lower amplitude pulse and modulation period ends with the zero-voltage pulse. The simulation confirmed the effectiveness of this approach.","PeriodicalId":340150,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115627735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The high switching frequencies with moderate losses, reduced conduction losses and excellent parasitic parameters with respect to comparable Silicon based devices allow using of them in efficiency sensitive systems. Utilization of the wide bandgap devices for renewable energy generation, as in case for small-scale wind turbines, provide valuable changes not only in the annual energy, but also in overall regulation parameters, thermal stress and, as a result, reliability of the system. This paper presents the comparative evaluation of the small-scale wind turbine performance using 650V Si MOSFETs, Si IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs and GaN HEMTs as switching devices. The chosen topology is based on the standard 2-level converter, consisting out of 3 phase half-bridges. The converter, designed for the actual load of 3 kW PMSM based wind generator is controlled by Direct Torque Control (DTC) principles. The influence of the torque and flux regulators settings, as well as wind speed distribution, is drawn in plots, based on efficiency surfaces and relative year efficiency graphs, repeated for each device. Relating to the simulation results, a comparative analysis is performed and conclusions about using of wide bandgap devices in the small scale windmill systems are drawn.","PeriodicalId":340150,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115925025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
