The trends, in this continuous growth, of the use of grid technologies in vast and different fields lead to the necessity of the development of methods of optimizing the efficiency of the grid data centers infrastructure. The main objective of the paper consists in developing a computer aided management system for keeping track and assessment of wear off of computing machines from a network of grid data centers (more accurately said, it is a “software system for decision support”). The system will be able to perform real time alarming of the personnel of data centers for possible incidents of for the rising possibility of abnormal functioning of this data centers. This objective will be accomplished through the development of a database that will store data about the hardware equipment components of the grid cluster behavior, data collected form the starting point of the implementation, in real time. The data is acquired through many sensors attached to the components of the cluster servers, like the hard disks, memories and processing units. All this data will be available through a secure web portal, the access to this data being available only to authorized personnel. The database will provide the needed information and data to the decision support software system. The implementation of this software will lead to a growth in functionality of the grid clusters through forecasting the possible malfunctions that will allow the optimized scheduling of hardware maintenance, software reinstall and configuration. More than that, will function as an emergency response system for the management of the network of grid data centers.","PeriodicalId":340048,"journal":{"name":"2014 RoEduNet Conference 13th Edition: Networking in Education and Research Joint Event RENAM 8th Conference","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116941340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this paper is to present a new bound for the Shannon Entropy, by first developing a refinement of Jensen's inequality. This refinement is applied in order to find a new and more accurate upper bound for Shannon Entropy. Such infrastructures are oriented to support a distributed medium based on high-bandwidth networks, respective data repositories and distributed computing infrastructures, such as Grids, High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, Clouds. All Eastern Partnership Countries (EaP) are deploying national e-Infrastructure components via collaborative initiatives based on European models. The main aim of this article is to introduce the status of e-infrastructures in the EaP countries emphasizing on networking and computational facilities, e-services and international collaboration. The overview of network infrastructures operated by the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and the computational and storage resources provided by the National Grid Initiatives (NGIs) are introduced including its collaborations with the pan-European research and education network GÉANT [1] and Grid infrastructures [2]. The key research applications and services are presented covering a wide range of scientific disciplines, such as particle physics, life sciences and computational chemistry, earth and climate sciences, astronomy and cosmology, computational engineering, etc.","PeriodicalId":340048,"journal":{"name":"2014 RoEduNet Conference 13th Edition: Networking in Education and Research Joint Event RENAM 8th Conference","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123092053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through the shift from interactive, manual processes to automated, self-deployment of resources, the providers can increase the efficiency of delivering on-demand services. Virtualized resources, particularly virtual machines and containers that are in the focus of the present paper, make the infrastructure transparent to the final user, are easier to be configured and can seamlessly migrate to another host, in real time - preserving processes status. The Linux containers represent an emerging technology for fast and lightweight process virtualization. Because the containers require less resources to run by sharing the operating system kernel, a higher density of containers can be achieved on the same host, opposed to other virtualization solutions like hardware or para-virtualization. The paper presents a solution to enable the on-demand provisioning of Linux containers using Software-Defined Networking, a flexible approach to treating even control-level resources “as a Service”.","PeriodicalId":340048,"journal":{"name":"2014 RoEduNet Conference 13th Edition: Networking in Education and Research Joint Event RENAM 8th Conference","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133105222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although these changes affect all linguistic branches ranging from phonetics, lexicon and grammar to semantics and pragmatics, we will focus only on discovering new potential words that entered the Romanian lexicon or alternative forms (lexicalizations) that are frequently used. In this paper we describe the architecture of a system which models the rate of Romanian vocabulary growth based on different statistics gathered by a focused web crawler. Alien wavelength is used to establish a 100 Gbps optical circuit between routing equipment, which in our case also serves as source and destination of a specific tunable wavelength, within RoEduNet DWDM network. The optical network is using electronic compensation of dispersion at the service network element level. Because the alien wavelength bypasses this equipment, it should deal with chromatic dispersion. As the social media includes the web technologies that enable us to communicate directly and to modify user-generated content, the adoption of such online communication channels, as well as social networks (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+) or Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) technologies (e.g., chat, wiki, blog, forum) have gained an increasing trend and have reshaped interaction and information access. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of opinion mining techniques, to describe the implementation of a previously developed system within our research group - Emotion Monitor -, alongside with our current improvements, such as the new trust module for evaluating the system's confidence in the current user, as well as enriching the user's profile in order to further personalize the generated results.
