The original bit stream is divided into sub-blocks, and each sub-block is modulated according to the constellation indicated by the constellation indicating bits (CIB) which are composed of data bits and parity bits. Error-correction coding (ECC) is used to produce the parity bits for the improvement of the robustness of constellation estimation and bit-error rate performance. The error bounds of constellation estimation are derived. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the transmission efficiency by at most 50% and 25% compared with the conventional BPSK and QPSK respectively in Rayleigh channel while still maintaining almost the same or even better BER performance as conventional BPSK and QPSK.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125761369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the study, the concept of ER for concurrent transmissions is introduced first. Considering the large path loss in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) band and the characteristics of typical indoor multipath channels, we modify the signal propagation model as well as ER radius for 60GHz WPANs. Then we propose an improved ER based scheduling algorithm which adopts power control instead of constant transmitting power. In the algorithm, devices are assumed to receive data at the receiver sensitivity, which refers to the minimum receiving power to ensure the reliability for communications. Computer simulations evaluate an excellent performance of the proposed spatial reuse scheme at channel capacity. In addition, the impact of the receiver sensitivity on the system is discussed.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128038788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, reliability of the communications severely suffers from wireless propagation on the road. A vehicle-roadside-vehicle relay communication scheme has been proposed to improve the reliability of the V2V communications. The packet broadcast transmission performance of the proposed scheme with large number of transmitting vehicle stations around intersection is evaluated by computer simulations that assume fading, corner loss attenuation and carrier sense range. The combinations of two frequency bands, 700 MHz and 5.9 GHz, are also compared for the direct and relay transmissions. Simulated results show that the average packet reception ratio is remarkably improved with the proposed scheme regardless of number of the vehicle stations. The frequency combination of 700 MHz as vehicular station transmission and 5.9 GHz as relay station retransmission shows better performance.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121542685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A solution to reduce the decoding complexity is the use of stochastic decoding algorithm, but the computational complexity of probability generation in the first step is very high. In this paper, we investigate the outage probability and diversity order of an uncoded SC-CP system with frequency domain MMSE decision feedback equalizer (FD-DFE) in frequency-selective channels. Based on the linear prediction theory and spectral factorization theory, we give a different derivation and interpretation of the equalizer coefficients and the closed-form MMSE formula at the decision point of the equalizer, from which the asymptotic SINR is obtained when the block length N is sufficiently large compared to the channel length. Adopting outage analysis, we show that with MMSE-FD-DFE, the asymptotic achievable diversity order is Lc +1, where Lc is the number of independent channel paths, i.e., full multipath diversity is asymptotically achieved.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116438096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous researches have shown that overlays constructed taking into consideration of the underlying network topology information perform better than those oblivious to those information. In this paper, we first propose a novel heuristic algorithm to solve the provider-independent overlay construction issue given accurate underlying topological information. However, exact physical topology is usually shielded from the Internet users especially in multiple-domain scenarios and difficult to obtain. One of the issues is the Anonymous Routers (AR) presence in the Internet Thus only inaccurate underlying topologies can be obtained. Even if AR resolution algorithms are implemented, there is no guarantee that it can infer an accurate topology. Therefore, we take a step further to study the impact of inaccurate underlying topological information on overlay topology construction. Initial results obtained show that the availability and accuracy of underlying topology information has impact on its effectiveness in constructing a good overlay topology and cautions are needed when taking advantage of the acquired inaccurate underlying topology information.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116486878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our scheme is based on the criterion of maximum average girth which is an important performance parameter for the construction of RC-LDPC codes. We select a pattern wherein the punctured bits are far apart from each other in the Tanner graph of the codes by sorting algorithm, and then puncture the bits with the maximum average girth. In the process, there is no need to do any optimization. By simulations, the proposed codes show good performance under puncturing over a wide range of rates. The introduced puncturing criterion results in lower bit error rate and error floor when compared with random puncturing. Moreover, the performance of proposed method is similar to the direct structured LDPC codes by progressive edge growth (PEG). But the scheme is very simple to implement and lowers the complexity of encoding and decoding.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130626763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides the positive effect on global climate change, lowering power consumption of mobile networks is beneficial in terms of decreasing the operational cost for network operators. In this regard, the development of more energy efficient hardware and software components aside, effect of different deployment strategies on energy efficiency are also studied in the literature. In this paper, we investigate the energy efficiency improvements through different heterogeneous networks for both uniform and non-uniform traffic distribution scenarios. It has been shown that, using small power low base stations at the cell border decreases the power consumption significantly for both traffic scenarios and the most energy efficient deployment strategy highly depends on the area throughput demand of the system.","PeriodicalId":339961,"journal":{"name":"2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130704877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
