In this paper we investigate simple, yet flexible tapped delay line channel models that capture the essential aspects of vehicular communications through asymmetric power spectral densities and well chosen Doppler and delay spreads. We demonstrate how to generate such asymmetric fading traces, and use the implementation on a channel emulator to measure packet error probabilities using software defined radios. We then analyze the received packet traces with respect to mean packet loss and burstiness, and show the influence of the line of sight obstruction and Doppler frequencies on the packet burst behavior. We are thus able to demonstrate the link of fine-grained packet statistics and underlying physical channels.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130873198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thereby, cyclists are able to avoid accident hot spots easily. However, designing and implementing such applications is only one part of the developing process. Additionally, a proper assessment is required in order to make sure road safety is improved by the given solution. In this paper, we give an insight in our way of assessing road safety aspects of a routing application for cyclists. We utilize microscopic traffic simulation in combination with a sophisticated measuring tool for road safety based on real accident data. It is shown, that the provided prototype of a cycling router is able to avoid accident hot spots and therefore increases road safety for their users.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123646627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Without a strong line-of-sight component, packet delivery depends on other propagation mechanisms that are statistically more likely to add destructively so that the signal falls below the noise threshold of the receiver. An analytical model to understand dominant propagation mechanisms in these scenarios is a very powerful tool to predict system performance for important safety scenarios, facilitating both application development and vehicle antenna design. In this paper we present an analytical model for the power contributions from diffraction around a truck. The model is later verified using real life channel measurements from a rural road scenario. A general conclusion is that the channel between the vehicles is highly sensitive to lateral position, and even longitudinal position in the vicinity immediately behind the truck. Finally we conclude that non line-of-sight communication in rural environments is possible using only diffraction as a propagation mechanism, and that antenna diversity significantly increases communication reliability.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"2 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120822365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A future scenario where intravehicular wired systems will be replaced by wireless systems will allow to reduce cabling weight and increase the flexibility. But one of the main requirements of wireless systems is to maintain the same reliability level as the wired ones. A system based on LDM (Layered Division Multiplexing) complemented with Unequal Error Protection (UEP) is proposed in this article to guarantee the reliability level of a wireless system where two types of data, critical and non critical, need to be transmitted over the same physical layer. To prove that the proposed method is more reliable than the traditional TDM/FDM systems, BER and throughput simulations have been carried out. Simulations show that exploiting the extra available time obtained with LDM using an appropriate coding, BER of the critical data is reduced several orders and throughput of the non critical data could be higher than the TDM system.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"2012 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131912933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the perspective of antenna correlation, the system throughput under linear arrays and circular arrays are simulated. The results show that the system throughput in the 2 × 2 MIMO system using space division multiplexing can be doubled compared to SISO, and the MIMO system using spatial diversity can achieve the maximum throughput of the system same as SISO. For a 2-element antenna array, a linear array placed perpendicular to the rails provides better system performance. For a 4-element antenna array, a circular array with a certain angle between the normal and the rail direction is better than a linear array in a restricted placement area.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123410210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kinematic positioning has been attracting attention as a high-precision position estimation method of moving objects. However, the acquisition rate of FIX solutions fluctuates according to positioning parameters in the kinematic positioning. Especially, the FIX solutions include false FIX solutions. In this paper, we focus on the characteristics of the false FIX solutions and will propose the elimination method of the false FIX solutions by speed and altitude information. Further, we will present the improvement of true FIX solutions and reduction of the false FIX solutions by integrating the elimination of the false FIX solutions with parallelized processing which has different positioning parameters. Hereby, we can acquire extensively only the reliable positioning information and can be useful when integrate with other sensors. Also, by using the actual vehicle traveling data, the ability and the applicable range of the proposed method will be shown.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114907070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
