The update rate of these beacons should be high enough to allow the application to swiftly react to prevent accidents and current recommendations provide fixed values for different safety use cases. This approach is sub-optimal since wireless resources might be used when not necessary, e.g., when cars are queuing at a traffic light, and the proposals made for variable beacon periodicity (BP) typically do not take into account the safety aspect or are strictly related to the access technology in use. This paper presents a new algorithm called beaconing adaptation for safety enhancement (BASE) that adapts the BP to minimize the amount of radio resources used by the safety application without breaching safety requirements. BASE is access technology agnostic and focuses on common traffic and traveling conditions (not on particular crossroads, overtaking, etc.), and the results presented in this paper show how it allows for substantial capacity gains in a highway collision-avoidance scenario.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116951148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Providing the emergency crew with a route that avoids congestions can save valuable travel time. It is challenging to compute such a route fast enough for practical usage while taking into consideration traffic fluctuations, uncertainties, and unpredictable user behaviour. The approach presented in this paper addresses these issues and proposes a solution based on evolutionary algorithms for generating routes for emergency vehicles. The algorithm is tested in an agent based traffic simulation environment. The results of the test show early computational feasibility that opens possibilities for implementation in distributed real world environments.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133723626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the basis of bus information management system proposed, this work incorporates the strengths of local information processing and moving buses for increasing the measurement precision and supplying new sensing data, which establishes a real-time weather monitoring system. The proposed weather monitoring system relates to a wireless bus information management system, which includes bus stop and vehicle management subsystems. The management signals are transmittable between bus stops and the vehicle. Based on vehicle management signals, the bus stop management subsystem can obtain information about the neighboring weather conditions. Similarly, with the bus stop management signals, the vehicle management subsystem can help passengers make the decision (e.g., their travel plans) with the monitoring data. Moreover, the information, such as the temperature, rainfall and humidity meteorological monitoring data, can be applied to supplement the analysis of air quality monitoring. The proposed distributed wireless system is detailed by a prototype implementation and a simulation analysis, which is shown to be feasible and scalable.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128892212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More in details, our aim is to evaluate system performance in terms of integrity of the navigation data. In the train control system, the integrity is one of the most challenge feature to achieve. Under that assumption, an algorithm that is able to exclude multiple SIS (Signal in Space) faults has been designed. In the design of the approach a multi-constellation framework has been taken into account. Simulation results highlighted promising outcomes both in terms of detection probability and in terms of false alarm rate.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122796337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of them is assuring safe and reliable communication in remote locations (e.g. seas and oceans) to fully utilize benefits offered by innovative e-navigation solutions. The netBaltic project, proposed a new approach to communication based on self-organizing heterogeneous mesh network. Additionally, based on test-bed results, the project outlines new challenges for three selected e-navigation services such as Electronic Nautical Chart, numerical weather forecast and weather routing such as preparing and distributing chart updates packages in a timely manner, generating and delivering weather forecasts based on area-specific conditions in a highly compressed format and developing inter-vessel data transmission protocol.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124422591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the so called full duplex (FD) radios will soon be introduced in devices as opposed to traditional half duplex (HD). However, although FD radios allow to almost double the capacity of a single link, the advantage obtained in a network is still debated and first studies reveal that obtaining a real improvement is not so obvious due to the increased interference. With this in mind and focusing on vehicular networks exploiting IEEE 802.11p, in this paper we propose a modification to the standard protocol (compatible with the legacy devices) to let the FD receiver to send an immediate feedback in order to reduce the time wasted in collisions. The performance of the proposed protocol is firstly investigated in a simplified scenario both through simulations and analysis, and then studied in a realistic urban scenario with hundreds of nodes and the example application of crowd vehicular sensing networks. Results show an increase of the data rate up to 30%.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134619250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Historically, a similar situation - but more spectacular - was observed in the beginning of the 1990s, during the first real (not simulated or emulated) TCP transmissions over newly introduced ATM networks. In the paper we test behavior of the multipath TCP (MPTCP) protocol over IEEE 802.11ac WLAN using real network equipment. Experiments were carried out in a test private cloud, built using the OpenStack open source cloud system. In experiments, a mobile node accessed the cloud using the MPTCP protocol working over two 802.11ac links. The performed tests covered multipath access to the cloud with the use of dedicated links and shared links, as well as migration of the cloud's data following the mobile node which changed its point of attachment to the cloud.","PeriodicalId":339606,"journal":{"name":"2017 15th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133284047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
