A future scenario where intravehicular wired systems will be replaced by wireless systems will allow to reduce cabling weight and increase the flexibility. But one of the main requirements of wireless systems is to maintain the same reliability level as the wired ones. A system based on LDM (Layered Division Multiplexing) complemented with Unequal Error Protection (UEP) is proposed in this article to guarantee the reliability level of a wireless system where two types of data, critical and non critical, need to be transmitted over the same physical layer. To prove that the proposed method is more reliable than the traditional TDM/FDM systems, BER and throughput simulations have been carried out.
