The objective of the study was to identify the bacteria present in urine cultures from canines in the state of Yucatán, determine their sensitivity to antibiotics, the prevalence of resistance to methicillin (MR) and production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL). Identification and sensitivity to antibiotics were performed using the MicroScan commercial kit and the Kirby-Bauer technique. MR was determined by sensitivity to oxacillin/cefoxitin and ESBL production through synergy techniques with beta-lactamase inhibitors. The most frequently isolated bacteria was Proteus mirabilis and the antibiotic with the highest percentage of resistant strains was norfloxacin; 30.2% of the Enterobacterales strains manifested ESBL production and 39.4% of the Staphylococcus spp. showed MR. The development of drug resistance is an important problem, only the knowledge about the prevalence of these uropathogenic bacteria and their drug-resistant strains in our state will allow us to propose effective treatment protocols.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128801168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The applied methodology contemplates 3 phases: 1) Analysis of environmental conditions of the region, 2) Selection of measurement devices: Use of two types of thermometers, the Steren Thermo-Hygrometer thermometer assigned for temperature measurements (°C), and the UA-965 Thermo-Anemometer thermometer to quantify temperature and wind speed, 3) Statistical studies of environmental factors of temperature and wind (random sampling) . The contribution is exposed socially, economically and culturally, with respect to the social environment, the optimal levels of temperature and wind are indicated, this action will benefit 70% of the meliponiculturists with the increase in the levels of bee reproduction, this increase will cause greater quantities of products (honey, propolis, wax) which, when sold, will attract greater economic uptake for meliponiculturists. Finally, the cultural contribution focuses on the conservation and preservation of the region's native bees, fostering a reproduction system with adequate environmental conditions.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"181 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133768950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, people do not have good dental hygiene due to various factors, one of them is personal economy. According to the study carried out by the Key-Stone Consultant under the title, \"Patients in the dental sector\", 21% of patients admit not going to a dental clinic, despite having some oral problem present, due to economic difficulties, lack of time, lack of importance given. This generates an accumulation of microorganisms in the oral cavity generating a bacterial plaque giving rise to dental calculus or dental tartar and this causes endless oral problems such as lack of dental aesthetics. This research work studies dental calculus as well as the relationship of associated factors for this condition to be generated. This is achieved from the exhaustive review of scientific articles concerning the oral health problem, analyzing the prevalence of dental calculus in young -adults in the suburban neighborhood of the city of San Francisco de Campeche during the year 2021 is the main objective. In interviews conducted with young patients, the analysis showed that of 20 people who were interviewed, 14 brush only twice a day and therefore there is a visualization of the presence of dental calculus presenting other diseases. 50% of people have economic problems which limit their ability to go to the dentist. The lack of time to do an adequate dental cleaning is also a factor that was presented in the suburban area since 70% admitted to having a lack of time. Concerning visits to the dentist, the analysis resulted in 8 people never going to the dentist and only one person going 3 times for braces. In this project, dental calculus is a factor that causes multiple problems in the oral cavity that are associated with the lack of good responsible habits with the mouth. The same dental calculus causes the loss of teeth. It is extremely relevant to promote dental education in young people as in adults with the purpose of raising awareness and changing the attitude of the most vulnerable population of these suburban areas of the city of Campeche. The implementation of oral health programs is necessary in order to improve them.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133819893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: To determine in females suffering from chronic iron deficiency, from the perinatal stage to adulthood, the levels of peripheral BDNF in blood. In addition, the effect of iron supplementation after weaning. Methodology: female Wistar rats with chronic iron deficiency and rats supplemented from weaning to adulthood (70 postnatal days) were euthanized to analyze BDNF levels in blood samples. Contribution: we demonstrate that in the presence of chronic iron deficiency, BDNF levels decrease peripherally and supplementation normalizes them. In addition, hemoglobin-bound iron (Fe-Hb) levels correlate positively with BDNF levels in blood. This could indirectly indicate a possible restoration or contribution to the improvement of the patient's cognitive or behavioral processes.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115495672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In rural communities is common to observe numerous populations of this, consequence of multiple unsanitary sites. The present study was carried out in order to identify the species of bacteria and parasites with medical importance present in the common fly, captured in homes and microhabitats (chicken coops, pigsty and backyards) in homes of the community of Cholul, Cantamayec. 20 species of bacteria were identified: E. coli (41.78%) was the most frequent species in all processed flies. In turn, households (45.20%) were the place where the greatest amount of bacterial species was isolated, being E. coli (42.42%), the frequent species, in the same way in pigsty (45.65%), chicken coops (38.09%) and backyards (30.76%). Regarding the enteroparasites identified from the digestive cavity of flies, Endolimax nana (38.46%) was the frequent cyst and Ascaris lumbricoides (15.38%), the only nematode found. In turn, the pigsty (n = 5) was the site with the highest number of isolated enteroparasites. The results obtained show that flies carry pathogens that could be involved in human infections ofcommunity origin.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133367119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the years have elapsed since the last national survey, it was necessary to carry out a new survey to know the prevalence rates of intestinal parasitosis and to compare the results obtained between both studies. Such knowledge would be of great value in developing health strategies and designing intestinal parasitic infection control programs. Objective: to determine the current prevalence rates of intestinal parasites, to compare the results with those of the survey obtained. Methods: a random cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out during the months of December 2018 to March 2019 in a random sample of both sexes from the population of urban communities and the province of Zacatecas, Zac. Each one had a stool sample collected that was analyzed by the direct examination method, the Willis concentration technique, and the Kato-Katz examination; A questionnaire was also applied to them. Results: when comparing the results of the national and state surveys of intestinal parasitic infections carried out in 2009 and 2018, it was found that, in general, infections by parasites decreased, both helminths and pathogenic protozoa, although those infected with commensals increased their frequency in that of 2019. There was also a decrease in the frequency of infections by all species of soil-transmitted helminths, Trichuris trichiura, Ascaris lumbricoides, ancylostomideos, and Strongyloides stercoralis, as well as by the pathogenic protozoa Giardia lamblia and Entamoeba histolitica. Conclusions: when comparing the results of national and state surveys of intestinal parasite infections carried out in 2018 and 2019, it was found that in general the frequencies of infections with intestinal parasites decreased. The finding in both studies of a higher frequency of infection with parasites or commensals in the group aged 5 to 14 years (school age), supports the recommendation to place emphasis on control programs for intestinal parasites in this age group.","PeriodicalId":339379,"journal":{"name":"ECORFAN Journal Republic of Guatemala","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130141677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
