Other methods have also been used. However, most of the analysis exists for analysis of single resonators. However, for practical dielectric resonators (when more than one loaded cavity is used) there may be apertures coupling one resonator to the other. In addition there may be probes coupling one resonator to the other to carry out response shaping or even cancel out the effects of the higher order modes. Also, probes may be utilized to couple energy into and out of the resonators. The high dielectric constant resonator is generally placed on top of a low dielectric constant material for support. Hence an effective analysis modeling is necessary which will predict the actual experimental data accurately if the appropriate material properties are correctly specified for coupled multiple dielectric resonators. This includes analysis of dielectric resonators with aperture couplings along with probe feeds.","PeriodicalId":339267,"journal":{"name":"1999 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. The baluns are realized in both microstrip and CPW configurations with an insertion loss as low as 0.3 dB per balun. This is the lowest reported loss for a monolithic balun operating at these frequencies. Otherwise identical test structures were fabricated with various Ni/Au finishes and different thicknesses. The conductive loss has been extracted from Q measurements on series microstrip resonators. A software feedback technique is used to correct the amplitude and phase distortions introduced in the signal path to the input port of the device under test (DUT). This technique allows one to create a modulated excitation signal with a known spectrum (amplitude and phase) of the modulation signal. Such a \"controlled modulation\" signal is required to test microwave components under pulsed or modulated (non-continuous wave excitation) test conditions.","PeriodicalId":339267,"journal":{"name":"1999 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. A simpler real time method of positioning is described in this paper. Based on interferometry, this method is first tested by means of a prototype, operating at 10 GHz, with an area under investigation of 1 square meter, and an accuracy between 1 and 2 centimeters. The extension of the area under investigation toward several square decameters has been obtained, at 2.45 GHz, with a second prototype. This paper introduces a new concept within the coupled-integral-equations-technique (CIET) which takes into account all edge conditions simultaneously and, therefore, permits the analysis and optimization of such filter components in a timely fashion. A 12.3 GHz four-pole dual-mode filter in rectangular waveguide is chosen as design example. Comparison with HP's HFSS shows good agreement, whereas the mode-matching technique (MMT) did not converge with up to 600 modes. The CIET routine converges with up to 23 edge-conditioned vector basis functions and up to 1750 modal summation terms. Due to its speed, the new approach can also be used for a Monte-Carlo-based tolerance analysis which shows a manufacturing accuracy of 0.02 mm for this critical dual-mode filter example.","PeriodicalId":339267,"journal":{"name":"1999 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. Such systems will be installed early in the next century.
