The paper investigated the prevalent cloud computing themes towards competitive advantage. A cross-sectional study using a content analysis approach was followed with data collected from selected OPPs between the years 2015 and 2020. Seven hundred and ninety-three OPPs articles were purposefully selected, then thematically analysed. OPPs used for establishing prevalence and current issues pertaining to disruptive technologies. Six prevalent cloud computing themes are proposed that can be used as guidelines were uncovered and conceptualized for practitioners and the research community.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"207 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122784927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internet users around the world have been dealing with the struggle to define the boundaries of lawful disagreement and unlawful speech. In this sense, this research aims to identify how the State’s regulatory approach may influence the legal uncertainty regarding online content moderation. For this purpose, there were selected specific countries representing three different regulatory models for the internet: the USA (self-regulation); Brazil (command and control regulation); and Germany (standard-based regulation). The research intends to compare the laws and precedents of each selected legal system and contrast how they address: (i) the moderator’s identity; (ii) the criteria for moderation; (iii) the moderation tools; (iv) the \"the checks and balances\" over the decision-making of the moderator; and (v) the liability to be applied against wrongful decision. The level of legal uncertainty in each of these five aspects shall be measured exclusively by the extent of the law’s ambiguity and the discretion of the decision-makers in interpreting it. So, it will not address the \"subjective uncertainty\". In this discretion, given the legislation may vary according to the subject matter presented for content moderation, three main topics were taken into consideration: privacy, fake news, and hate speech. These topics have been selected for being sensitive issues in all countries, including the three selected for this study. The preliminary results indicate that the command and control regulation as presented in the Brazilian version might be the one with the highest legal uncertainty while the self-regulation as presented in the US version appears as the one with the lower legal uncertainty. In the conclusion, these results would be summarized indicating how the law’s ambiguity and decision-maker’s discretionary reflects on the cyber environment.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129172114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Systems such as wireless communication, railway signaling, high voltage power grids and satellites can all be interrupted by solar activity events. The detection and tracking of sunspots as well as the prediction of solar eruptions forms a part of the attempt to predict space weather. To make predictions regarding the behaviour of a sunspot it is necessary to track and monitor its evolution over time. In this paper the use of Image Processing techniques to detect and track sunspots will be investigated.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114558031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the case of hybrid cloud configuration where data are in on-premises storage systems and compute systems is in public clouds, data should be transferred to the public cloud when a read/write command is issued by compute systems. Thus, long data transfer time is a problem since the on-premises systems and public clouds are connected by the internet. One possible solution is to create an additional cache area inside the compute system; however, it is not clear how effective it is. In this paper, we verify the effect of the data cache by creating the hybrid cloud environment with/without the cache area and measuring input/output latency. We created the measurement environment in the hybrid cloud with dm-cache technology and set up the assumed workload of TPC Benchmark TM E with the write-through mode. The average latency with the cache area reduces by up to 79% compared to without the cache area, and we confirm the effect of installing cache areas in this environment.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115359211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, from a research perspective, a review of the existing publications that visualizes both design elements and effects on user behavior is still missing but needed to reach an overall understanding of the connections and dependencies of researched design elements. From a company’s perspective, practitioners are forced to first decide on certain design elements and then to optimize these according to their goals, due of the actual state of research. To close this gap, we conducted a systematic literature review and developed a conceptual model that links different design cues with social signals and social reactions. On the one hand our model helps researches to get a better understanding of the influence of several design cues of CAs. On the other hand, our model helps practitioners to design conversational agents according to their companies’ goals.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"os-24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127689553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focuses on developing a system that implements blockchain technology to allow the exchange of personal data while ensuring the authenticity and privacy of the exchanged data are preserved. The privacy of data is ensured using encryption while the authenticity is intuitively built into blockchain technology with the consensus algorithm and cryptographic signatures. The blockchain interaction was enhanced by developing a companion application that simplifies exchanging data over the blockchain using QR codes. The expectation is to create awareness of the potential for using blockchain technology for secure-, private-, but verifiable data exchange, the possible implementations for future systems, and to reduce negative sentiments in regards to data sharing.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113978855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Constructing and applying Smart Learning Environments (SLEs) has emerged for supporting knowledge representation and learning content creation. In this paper, we focus on Smart Open Learning Environment (SOLE) that provide adaptive self-regulate learning based on Computational Thinking (CT). This contribution describes the progress of a pedagogical scenario promoted by Open Learner Model (OLM) to enhance CT through a SOLE that aims to support the learning process and to provide Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning. In this paper, we present our work, which takes advantage of different technologies such as ontology, Learning Analytic for a SOLE in order to be better managed and to offer more flexibility and comfort. Subsequently, we describe a learning scenario through SOLE and we propose a model for it that describes the interaction of its components. Then we propose different ontological models for the semantic of SOLE and we detail OLM ontology. We aim to deliver open content, which is adapted to specific learner context, profile, progress and CT’s Level in the learning process.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130957448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
