Technology has an increasingly critical role and therefore the reliability of information systems becomes a key element in successful operations. In this article we look at information systems infrastructure development. It is the mortar and basis for any other systems and operations in modern organization. Therefore, it needs to be reliable and robust. However, as environment, needs and requirements can change rapidly, the infrastructure should also be flexible. Infrastructure development is about making incremental changes to existing infrastructure. It is rare that technology can be chosen freely, new systems become part of existing infrastructure rather than replace it. Compatibility and standards are essential elements in development of a reliable, smoothly operating infrastructure. They make interoperability of different systems and technologies possible, increasing the flexibility of infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133516665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The maritime industry is embracing them wholeheartedly due to their true potential to meet the ever-increasing and complex traffic and shipping demand for safety, performance, energy efficiency, automation, and environmental impact. The implementation of AI approaches in maritime stems from the need to effectively process and analyse the extremely large amounts of data that are being generated by maritime vessels. The key to addressing these challenges lies in research and innovation, especially in novel algorithms, tools, and platforms within the areas of AI and Big Data to unlock the new possibilities of a diverse range of current maritime applications. Under this context, the current publication aims at showcasing AI approaches and research initiatives in the maritime industry by performing an indicative landscape analysis of research publications in the aforementioned domains, between the period 2016-2022. The various AI initiatives uncovered from the research are grouped and presented in three representative categories to provide a clear picture of the research effort of integrating AI in maritime processes.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130886188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This importance notwithstanding, there is a lack of understanding regarding cybersecurity globally, not only within the working class but within the general public. It can therefore be deduced, that there must also exist a lack of understanding regarding the technical principles of cybersecurity, such as how an individual’s computer keeps them safe within an online environment using techniques such as firewalls and cryptography. This paper addresses this lack of understanding by means of a serious game.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115367785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The introduction of notes and marks in texts is one of the most common ways of valuing the content and revealing the semantics of a text, allowing its readers to have a more concrete idea of what is expressed in it. For a long time, text annotation processes were done manually often carried out in an ad hoc manner, without using a concrete method. It was a very time-consuming and labor-intensive process of different natures. Today, the great development of natural language processing, machine learning and mining text, promoted a strong emergence of applications in several domains. Text annotation was no exception. Through the combination of natural language processing and machine learning mechanisms, it is possible to develop systems that analyze texts, written in natural language, identifying words, creating contexts, and discovering and maintaining tags, their relationships and annotations, in an automatic way. In this paper, we present an automatic annotation system conceived and developed specifically for tagging the texts of the Book of Properties, a codex containing the inventory of the Archbishop's Table of Braga’s properties (Portugal) in the 17th century. In addition to a general characterization of the system, we also describe the various stages of its annotation process with references taken from the Book of Properties.","PeriodicalId":338649,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conferences on Applied Computing 2022 and WWW/Internet 2022","volume":"170 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124744772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
