Because there are different types of wavelets, one of the major problems is to determine the best type of wavelet to use for a particular application, for instance, a communication system. Another problem is how best to determine that the reconstructed image is a near perfect reconstruction of the original image. A simulated model of the multiresolution technique is used. Images of varying sizes, backgrounds, textures and intensities are used to test the algorithms and determine results. The results indicate that shorter wavelets perform better than longer wavelets. While the principle of the method is not new-most text books on data structures describe it, albeit tersely-commercial software regularly uses ad hoc approaches to storage management; therefore an in-depth account of this effective and systematic method is indicated. The object to be managed are assumed to be instances of abstract data types or of object classes defined by modules. It is proposed to equip these objects with reference counts and the operations KEEP (increase reference count) and RELEASE (decrease reference count and, on zero, free the object). In class libraries these operations should be incorporated into the root classes and thus inherited by all classes. The method reference counts has the following merits: all deallocation decisions are based on considerations local to some module. Copying of data structures for simplifying deallocation decisions is avoided. The rules for using KEEP and RELEASE are simple and systematic. KEEP and RELEASE are used only to establish or revoke long-term claims to objects. In particular, the traffic processes for these networks are locally bursty while exhibiting long range dependence. We consider three models for network traffic which attempt to capture this behaviour. We are interested in showing how certain properties exhibited in self-similar processes are also observed in classical queueing models. First is the Markov modulated Poisson process which intuitively describes bursty local behaviour but lacks extreme long term correlation. Second, we consider a renewal model for traffic processes in which the interrenewal times have a regular varying distribution. Such renewal models exhibit long range dependence properties. Finally, we consider a Markov renewal process which is a hybrid of the first two models. This amplifier combines the output of two 5 W internally matched MESFETs with an integral waveguide combiner, and uses an external isofilter to protect the SSPA from load variations and to suppress 2nd and 3rd harmonics to -60 dBc. Drain voltage switching was implemented using a novel modulator design. An automatic levelling control (ALC) circuit maintains constant output power at end of life (EOL) over varying input and environmental conditions. AM/PM conversion was measured at 4.4 degrees peak/dB and the phase linearity was measured at 12.0 degrees p-p. The charger is universal in concept, meaning that is can charge any battery type, any battery pack voltage (up to 325 V), and can be programmed to implement any charge algorithm. It was specifically designed to be \"neighhor friendly\" by not producing harmonics, and not causing fluctuations in line voltage even when operating in a pulse charging mode. A prototype, of this charger design, for charging a single six volt golf cart battery has been designed, built, and tested for the purpose of implementing and verifying the performance of various fast charging algorithms without the risk of damaging an entire vehicle battery pack. The completed prototype has exceeded all design goals and it has been used to test various fast charge algorithms. All of the power electronics were built for the full element of 650 A/sub DC/ and the semiconductors all have 600 volt ratings. When the line is modeled with the distributed parameters, the power P, delivered to the load at the end of a lossless line is usually of interest and is given by: P=1/2|V/sup +/|/R/sub 0/(1-|K/sub L/|/sup 2/) where V/sup +/ is the peak value of incident voltage, K/sub L/ is the voltage reflection coefficient at the load, and R/sub 0/ is the characteristic resistance of the line. This paper points out that the above equation is a special case of a more general equation for the power delivered to the load for a low loss line. The power delivered to a load by a low loss line is obtained from time domain and frequency domain considerations. Cosoroaba","doi":"10.1109/SECON.1996.510143","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SECON.1996.510143","url":null,"abstract":"Synchronous DRAMs (SDRAMs)are DRAM type products that can offer an evolutionary change with performance advantages for memory systems previously unachievable with traditional DRAMs. These advantages are based on a synchronous I/O interface and improved internal architecture that enables faster data throughput rates. Performance estimations done to compare DRAMs with SDRAMs for various miss ratios and CPU clock/bus clock ratios show significant system performance improvement. With their evolutionary transition SDRAMs are minimizing the risks of system designers. This is an important factor in the short product cycle design environment. The significant system performance improvements obtained by these devices are at little or no extra cost. SDRAMs can also keep up with increasing bus speeds narrowing the performance gap between main memory and CPUs.
