{"title":"Ein empirisches Erklärungsmodell zum fachspezifischen Wissen von Schülern bei Einmündung in die bautechnische Fachschule","authors":"Bernd Zinn, Matthias Wyrwal","doi":"10.25162/zbw-2014-0032","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25162/zbw-2014-0032","url":null,"abstract":"discusses the establishment of evidence-based descriptive and explanatory knowledge on the entrance requirements for students at technical schools and the generation of an empirical explanatory model for structural engineering students’ technical knowledge at the begin- ning of their further education. The results are based on a representative study that was carried out at technical schools (Fachschule) for structural engineering in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. The fi ndings of the study showed that students enter technical schools with highly hetero-geneous quali fi cations. The central differences lie in their school and professional quali fi cations, in their work experience and in their cognitive learner characteristics as determined through tests. This holds particularly true for teaching accounting as it is often considered a difficult and boring subject with little relevance to students’ everyday lives. Yet, the field of business didactics lacks findings regarding the design of effective teacher explanations. So far, there has been little research on instructional explanations, in particular, on the learners’ perception of effective explanations. Thus, this paper presents and discusses answers to what constitutes clear and motivating explanations in accounting classes from a students’ point of view with findings from a qualitative interview study. Wuttke, Kristina Kögler","doi":"10.25162/zbw-2018-0023","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25162/zbw-2018-0023","url":null,"abstract":"In recent years, there has been an increasing public interest in giftedness with a special focus on the vocational situation and corresponding stereotypes of gifted individuals. Existing research results are scarce and heterogeneous. Some studies found an insufficient congruence between gifted individuals and their work environments as well as potential social problems with colleagues and job satisfaction. This study identified which vocational pathways are pursued by gifted individuals, what positions and domains they work in, and if they are satisfied with their professional situations. The study sample included n = 277 members of an association for gifted individuals. The research results showed that the sample is highly educated and the participants often work in superior positions or are self-employed.
