Nowakowski","doi":"10.33077/uw.25448730.zbkh.2022.705","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33077/uw.25448730.zbkh.2022.705","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the study is to present digitalization as a method of virtual consolidation and sharing of scattered collections or those remaining outside the country, which due to their nature are closely related to the circle of Polish culture. The analysis was based on the conclusions resulting from the project of digital consolidation of the collection of the Polish press (1801– 1939) of the National Ossoliński Institute during the Lviv period of activity, numbering in September 1939 no fewer than 5000 titles, which, as a result of territorial changes (1945), ended up outside the country. As a result of the efforts undertaken in the years 1946–1947, nearly 1,300 press titles were donated to Wrocław in the form of a “gift”, more than half of which were distributed as a result of the transfer of some annuals or only a supplement, when the main journal was kept. As a result, a total of about 3000 titles remained in Lviv, including over 700 completely or partially unavailable in Poland, currently stored in the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv. {"title":"Od cudzysłowów ostrych do chorągiewki","authors":"Dorota Ucherek","doi":"10.33077/uw.25448730.zbkh.2022.698","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33077/uw.25448730.zbkh.2022.698","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the article is to answer the question in what situations and contexts departing from traditional typographic and editorial norms and conventions turns out to be fortunate, as well as to present the mechanisms of introducing non-traditional solutions among readers and on the market, and thus shaping typographic and editorial usus. After defining the basic terms for the article: typographic and editorial usus, typography itself and the concept of a congenial book, traditional Polish typographic layouts and editorial solutions are presented on the example of the quarterly “Pamiętnik Literacki” (“Literary Memoir”) and the series Biblioteka Narodowa (National Library). Next, 11 representative publications on typography, prepared by the d2d.pl company, are analysed from this angle. The analysis covers such aspects of layout as the parameters of headings, text alignment, the function of highlights, the method of isolating quotations, the use of margins, pagination, types of figures, the location of footnotes, the form of their numbers and references in the main text, the use of first and second degree quotation marks, as well as the appearance of ornaments. The analysis leads to the conclusion that in the case of books dealing with typography, preserving their original typographic form was the best possible choice, because this form, no less than the content of the text itself, conveys information about the views and recommendations of the authors. The study defines that the Gospels were rewritten on a paper variety, the identification of its watermarks implies that the book was created in the last third of the 16th century. The analysis of the manuscript margins indicates that the manuscript was rewritten and purchased in Stryi, in the former Przemyśl region. The study of four gift records of the 16th and 17th centuries draws an understanding of how the manuscript has functioned and migrated at the appointed time. First, after the purchase, the codex was donated to the church of Paraskeva Piatnytsa in the Pietniczany village in the Lviv region. In 1641 the codex was gifted over to the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist in Rozhysche, Sataniv povit. Between 1649 and 1678 the Gospels were presented to the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin in Vinnytsia. In 1678 the book appeared in the Church of the Intercession in the village of Nekhaiky in the Cherkasy region. It was one of the largest collections of that kind, developed in the Saxion times by a State dignitary; it amounted to approximately 50–60 manuscripts. The studies, mostly from autopsy, are concluded with the statement that the core of the collection consisted of manuscripts concerning current public life, as well as those relevant for Mniszech’s official functions, wrote in his environment since at least the 20ties of the 18th century, but also acquired by donations (presumably also purchases) from different persons. Moreover, a valuable part of the collection includes manuscripts from the 16th–17th centuries inherited from his father, Jerzy Jan (died 1692), Volyn voivode, concerning mostly historical and political topics.
