Online learning becomes one of the consequences. However, not all teachers and students are able to implement online learning because of several factors. This phenomenon is experienced by the front-line Indonesian teachers who teach in the remote area, or in Bahasa Indonesia namely “ Terdepan , Terluar , dan Tertinggal (3T)”. The aim of this study is to investigate the practice of teaching and learning in remote areas and challenges the front-line teachers face in this pandemic situation. The study used qualitative data analysis using an interactive model which included data collection and data reduction, display data, and draw and verify the conclusion. The results show the biggest challenges for front-line teachers are the limited telecommunication equipment on the part of the students, and a stable network, and the cost of the internet as it is not a free service. Other challenges are the students' low discipline and motivation in completing the assignments, lack of their attendance when the teachers visited their homes, and the lack of support from parents and government.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123016360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children love to do challenging motion activities. Because the movement activities that are routinely carried out by children will have a good impact on their growth and development. There are several factors that influence children’s movement. The results showed that routine physical activities given to young children/ can stimulate the growth and development of the body including the brain, increasing the body's resistance to disease. However, children's movement and motor activities begin to decrease due to several things. For example, children spend more time playing gadgets. In addition, research shows that nearly 70% of three years old children in Europe attend day care services so that they stay more indoors and lead to high rates of obesity. Meanwhile, children who are obese are twice as likely to have bad self-confidence than children who are of normal weight. Meanwhile, the results of other studies show that children in coastal areas have better basic motor skills than other areas. It is proven from 8 sub-districts in the city of Padang, only 2 sub-districts in the coastal area show very good results. However, these results are not perfect due to other factors that have not been observed, one of which is motivation and self-confidence. With the existence of further analysis, it is hoped that it can improve the results of previous research and see how motivation and self-confidence of children in carrying out movement activities in Kindergarten in the city of Padang.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125283933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In early childhood, both consciously and unconsciously, they often become victims of natural disasters both physically and psychologically. This phenomenon has become commonplace in today's society. Many parents still do not understand how to teach education for early childhood, so children are not taught optimally and based solely on the experience of parents. The purpose of this research is to find out the perception of parents towards disaster education in early childhood in disaster-prone areas, both in the knowledge and understanding of parents. This research used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach. The findings showed that parents' understanding is good enough in terms of disaster education, this is seen when parents teach disaster education at home, but disaster education that parents provide is based only on the experience of parents. Recommendation of this research is aimed at parents to be active in preparing themselves with adequate science so that children get the right disaster education and in accordance with their growth and for further researchers to be able to research further by uncovering the same problems but with different subjects and variables. So that in the future this research can be developed and its benefits are wider for many people.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123846930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper intends to conduct a critical analysis on the assumptions of parenting, using the theory of feminist post structuralist. The results of this study show that the concept of parenting is strongly influenced by the gender construction that exists in our society. This gender constructed puts the mother as a caregiver in a very ideal context. There are many conditions that are not perfectly faced by a mother when doing parenting. The results of this study show that there needs to be further research to explore the role of mothers in situations not ideal.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114784828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If this condition is left unattended, the whole situation in Indonesia will become even more complex and will do harm to the children. Through the perspective of post-developmentalism, the researcher believes that children are able to be included in multi-hazards natural disaster risk mitigation. This research uses meta-analysis to examine several research results that identify the children’s participation during multi-hazards disasters and pandemic situations. The result finds that even during multi-hazards disasters and pandemic situations, children should be given opportunities to participate in the disaster mitigation as a preventive measure. Therefore, children’s resilience would increase and become a reducing factor that may lower the disaster risks in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115892615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various studies show that authoritative parenting is the best and the most effective parenting style to be applied universally to support optimal children’s development. This paper aims at exploring how the implementation of parenting style is highly affected by the cultural context of the society. Different cultural values reflected in individualist and collectivist cultures shape different understandings of parenting and thus different parenting styles. The two cultures perceive authoritative parenting style differently. To collect information, the author reviewed the literature on parenting practices in Asian, European, and American countries. The results of this paper highlight the need of having a better understanding on how the parenting style which is considered the best in one culture can be distinctly perceived by other cultures.","PeriodicalId":337757,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Early Childhood Education (ICECE 2020)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130181548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
