Network virtualization allows de-ossifying the internet and it is already a hot research topic nowadays. Virtualization is a very successful technique for sharing and reusing of resources, resulting in higher efficiency. On the other side, there is a need to cope with heterogeneity and a higher complexity in resource management. We will focus here on traffic restoration in virtual networks. The aim of this paper is to propose a simplified scalable restoration scheme for virtual networks using switches. The scheme is very easy to implement and do not need global information on the state of network. The failure is treated only locally and the other nodes in the network do not need to know nothing about it or to undertake special actions. In contrast to conventional IP routing schemes, each node routes the traffic on the basis of the entering arc and on the destination. We show that this is sufficient to deal with all link failure situations in the network, assuming that the network is two-link connected. We model the dimensioning problem with an Integer Linear Program which can be solved exactly for small networks of the literature.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132780288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cable failures are fairly common, but it is unacceptable for a single cable failure to disconnect communication for more than a few seconds - hence protection schemes are employed. In contrast to manual intervention, automatic protection schemes such as Shared Backup Path Protection (SBPP) can recover from failure quickly and efficiently. SBPP is a simple but efficient protection scheme that can be implemented in backbone networks with technology available today. In SBPP backup paths are planned in advance for every failure scenario in order to recover from failures quickly and efficiently. The SBPP problem is an NP-hard optimization problem, and previous work confirms that it is time-consuming to solve the problem in practice using exact methods. We present heuristic algorithms and lower bound methods for the SBPP planning problem. Experimental results show that the heuristic algorithms are able to find good quality solutions in minutes. A solution gap of less than 3.5% was achieved for more than half of the benchmark instances (and a gap of less than 12% for the remaining instances.)","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115230295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has motivated the expectation that IP over WDM multilayer infrastructure to be the preferred infrastructure for broadband communications in the near future. However routing and connection setup in multi-domain networks that considers both multilayer routing policies Physical Topology First (PTF) and Virtual Topology First (VTF) to handle circuit switched connection setup on both IP and optical WDM layers in multi-domain networks is not yet investigated sufficiently. An important and favorable characteristic of DVB-T for this application is its being working in a Single Frequency Network (SFN), so that multiple transmitters can be used simultaneously to detect the targets. In addition, using multiple antennas at the receiver side leads to the well known configuration known as MIMO. However, one of the obstacles, arisen in such configurations, is the receive antennas' placement in proper positions so that the detection performance is improved. Here, we propose a criterion based on the designed detector, in order to optimize the geometry of the receivers.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123927866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The models described are with and without using the concepts of game theory. For both the models, the spectrum trading that occurs between the primary user and the secondary user is considered first, and then the spectrum competition among the primary users is considered. Our model includes multiple levels of QoS for different secondary users. In the first phase, the secondary user selects the spectrum by observing the changes in the price and the level of QoS offered by different primary users. In the second phase, the primary user controls its strategy in renting the spectrum to secondary users to achieve the highest utility. To model the dynamic behavior of spectrum competition among primary users, a Bertrand game is formulated where the Nash equilibrium is considered as the solution. Moreover, to model the spectrum trading between the primary user and the secondary user, a Stackelberg game is formulated where the Nash equilibrium is again considered as the solution. Basically the solution is in terms of the size of offered spectrum to the secondary users and the offered spectrum price.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124800315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current survivability techniques for shared protection are mainly based on a centralized off-line pre-planning of the lightpaths. In addition, the presence of Physical Layer Impairments (PLIs) and multi-channel effects must be accurately considered. In this paper we propose a distributed on-line procedure called NICER to allocate shared backup capacity in transmission-impaired optical transparent networks. To this account, we present the on-line algorithms useful to setup the Label Switched Paths (LSPs) in a Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) controlled network and to choose the wavelengths to be eventually shared by the backup lightpaths, given the information about the PLIs distributed in the network. Furthermore, through some simulations we show the performance of the proposed survivability procedure.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129806452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to these restrictions, giving solutions and self-configurable protocols that do global tasks without requiring a central controller or manager are necessary. Topology control and node scheduling that constitute a part of the maintenance phase of self-organization protocols, are providing the main goal of this phase which is increasing network lifetime and also maintaining the infrastructure support for the network. In consideration of learning Automata's abilities such as low computational load, the ability of being used in distributed environments, with no precise information, the adaptability to changes via low environmental feedbacks and etc. and also its functionality that has some correspondence with essential methods which are used in self-organization systems, such as positive and negative feedbacks, interacting of special nodes with each other and with the environment, and probabilistic methods, results in the fact that using them is proper for improving the performance of sensor networks. So, in this paper a neighbour based topology control protocol has been proposed, in which an irregular cellular learning automaton is mapped to network, and with it nodes which are equipped with Automata, try to adapt their selected actions with required conditions for creating a connected, energy efficient network through selecting the best radio transmission range for themselves. This approach finally forms a proper topology which causes to lower network's energy consumption in its lifetime. The exclusive characteristic of this method is, the high number of transmission ranges that each node can select as transmission radius. Simulation's results show favorite functionality of the proposed protocol in comparison with some others from the above point of view.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132101048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
