Especially in the context of the new college entrance examination reform, the English writing section has changed accordingly, and it is more important for teachers to teach the English writing. However, English reading teaching nowadays has simply focused on translation, grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Discourse analysis that is more important for students to improve reading ability, has received surprisingly little attention. Cohesion theory initially proposed by Halliday and Hasan is an important part of discourse analysis. The dozens of studies on cohesion theory carried out over the past 40 years have mostly focused on the theory research, while the practical application to English teaching and its strategies have been much ignored. In the research of English teaching, most people pay more attention to the application of cohesion theory to English writing, translation, and reading teaching in college, but neglect the application of cohesion theory to reading teaching in senior high school. This paper is a tentative probe into applying cohesion theory to English reading teaching in senior high school. They face multifaced difficulties in writing due to the shortage of genre consciousness, diverse genre types, lower motivation and enthusiasm in English writing as well as poor writing production quality. The major reason can be traced into the deficiency in writing awareness by students and the lack of systematic genre writing guidance from teachers for learners. Hence, it can be widely seen that learners are puzzled and stressed to commence their writing when they are given different types of writing with diverse themes. Genre pedagogy based on theory of genre and genre analysis attaches importance to that leaners should understand discourse structures and linguistic features of texts with different themes. Therefore, genre-based approach to a large extent can help leaners ease their writing anxiety and deepen their genre awareness, eventually enhancing their writing quality and linguistic competence. This paper takes the genre of application as an illustration to explore how teachers can employ genre pedagogy to assist developing learners’ genre awareness, linguistic knowledge and writing competence through speech writing. The revised outline in 2000 also stipulated that “more task centered and diverse teaching activities should be carried out”. In 2001, the Ministry of Education emphasized that middle school English instruction should advocate a “task-based teaching method”. As a task-centered approach to English teaching, Task-based Language Teaching has been studied and implemented by many Chinese and foreign researchers and teachers. While it is acknowledged that Task-based Language Teaching brings benefits to students and instruction, especially compared to traditional language teaching, its application to different types of real-world classroom lessons has exposed some problems. Firstly, the basic mechanism of photocatalysis is briefly introduced, and the structure and performance characteristics of different new photocatalytic materials are summarized. Then, focusing on the design and development of photocatalytic water treatment membranes, the application and water treatment performance of graphite carbon-nitride (g-C3N4), carbon quantum dots (CQDs), layered dihydroxide (LDHs), metal-carbon/nitride (MXenes), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-based photocatalytic water treatment membranes were emphatically discussed.
