However, atmospheric turbulence has a voluminous degradation in the performance of FSO communication system. Therefore, different modulation techniques are introduced to improve the performance of the FSO communication systems. In this paper, the modulation schemes considered for the proposed FSO system, are binary pulse position modulation (BPPM) and M-ary pulse position modulation (M-ary PPM). The channel fading is characterized using gamma-gamma distribution. APD and PIN photodiode are used as photodetectors. Performance of the FSO systems has been compared in terms of their bit error rates (BERs). The results obtained in the paper show the suitability of BPPM over M-ary PPM for both photodetectors and also indicate the suitability of APD over PIN photodiode for the considered modulation techniques.","PeriodicalId":335492,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131920189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Relative position and orientation of an autonomous robot with respect to a fixed reference point is determined by minimal processing of a monocular image employing projective geometry resulting in very low computational requirements. A three-layered sequential algorithm i.e. Detection-Pixel Level Analysis-Sub Pixel Accuracy, is used to speed up the process and to reduce computational bulk. The position coordinate of a point in a plane is obtained by analyzing the perspective projection of a reference structure on a monocular image perceived by a camera placed at that point. A chessboard pattern is suitably chosen as the reference structure which is placed at the origin of the plane.","PeriodicalId":335492,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132479417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the method is known to be very sensitive to the estimation errors of the RIRs. In order to increase robustness, regularized MINT (R-MINT) has been proposed that overcomes the limitation by decreasing the energy of the equalization filters. In this paper, we analyze the solution of the R-MINT method and introduce a number of different ways to increase the robustness of the MINT method. Recently, regularized partial MINT (RP-MINT) method has been proposed that provides better perceptual speech quality compare to the R-MINT method. We also propose a new regularized optimal partial MINT (ROP-MINT) method which aims to optimize the equalized impulse response (EIR) between the source and output of the system. Simulation experiments conducted in various reverberant environments demonstrate that performance of our proposed ROP-MINT is better than that of the RP-MINT method.","PeriodicalId":335492,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133228813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimization is performed by varying the compensator arrangements and span length. Four different arrangements are considered-pre-configuration, post-configuration, mid-configuration and bi-end configuration. Span length is varied from 30 to 120 km. At the receiver, Q-factor and bit error rate (BER) have been systematically compared for standard single mode fiber (SSMF) and non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber (NZDSF). The designed data logger is capable of logging four AC current and two temperature measurements. It is based on a low cost microcontroller PIC18F4550. Microcontroller is programmed using Mikrobasic. The circuit displays temperature measurements on an LCD display and all measurements are also stored in separate files on a sd card. Power consumption of two houses was logged for one year using a sampling time of 2 minutes. The data stored in a sd card is used for further analysis. This paper also presents design of data logger and a detailed analysis of energy consumption of two houses based on collected data. Data analysis indicates power consumption pattern and its variation over a year. Analysis indicates that the logged data and monthly data collected by the utility company give similar energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":335492,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122068611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that Bessel k-form(BKF) pdf can suitably model the DT-CWT sub-bands and the BKF parameters in various DT-CWT sub-bands can discriminate various types of EEG data effectively. Next these parameters are utilized by the SVM-based classifiers to classify the EEG data. The classification performance is studied for three clinically relevant cases including healthy vs seizure, non-seizure vs seizure and inter-ictal vs ictal recordings. The proposed method provides 100% accuracy with 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity in all the cases. Communities in a social network are the gathering places for the people with common interest. Social network analysis is in high demand now a days for the increasing number of users. They involve themselves into different communities. They share post, their views, what they like etc. in communities. So it is important for them to find suitable communities where they have common factors like friends, followers and their activities etc. In this paper, we propose a technique for recommending a community in social network like Facebook, Twitter etc. Finding strong friends from a user's friend list and using clique and quasi-clique concepts introduced in graph mining, we recommend suitable communities for a user in a social network.","PeriodicalId":335492,"journal":{"name":"8th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116981286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
