Using the available transducer devices, this work presents four new features for ornithopters and the corresponding feasibility discussion respectively. The 1st feature is repeatable short take-off and landing (re-STOL) so that the ornithopter can automatically land on the ground at times of wind gusts beyond operational bracket, while resetting to an orientation suited for re-take-off. The 2nd feature is to recharge the onboard lithium battery by flexible thin film photo-voltaic (PV) on the tail. The 3rd feature is toward the autonomous flight control of ornithopters. It is realized by integrating gram-weighted micro-controller integrated with MEMS inertial measurement units (IMUs). Orientation control and light-triggered take-off are proposed herein firstly. The 4th feature is to develop new flapping mechanisms with large flap angle with no phase lag between two flapping wings. The above four newly developed features of ornithopters can preliminarily solve their current four shortcomings, i.e., vulnerability to gust wind, short flight endurance, difficulty in autonomous control and small payload.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121432899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first set is primarily used to determine the pulse current effect on water electrolysis. The second set is to determine the effects of electrolysis time, current density, electrolyte concentration and electrode space on continuous water electrolysis. Results of pulse water electrolysis show that the effect of pulse current on water electrolysis is small, which is verified and confirmed by quantitative experiments. In both studies, the current density and electrolyte concentration play the most important role on water electrolysis among the designed factors. They together contribute about 70% on water electrolysis. Results of continuous water electrolysis show that, as expected, the smaller the current density and electrode space, and the larger the electrolyte concentration is, the smaller the applied voltage is. Nevertheless, the decrement of applied voltage is small as the electrolyte concentration is higher than 5%.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122696909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid these limitations, a novel integrity monitoring method of ultra-tightly integrated GNSS/INS navigation system is proposed in this paper to monitor GNSS faults and determine the faulty satellite. This method can detect step pseudo range errors and slowly growing pseudo range errors and exclude the faulty satellite from the ultra-tightly integrated navigation system. To test the integrity monitoring method, an experiment platform is built based on a GNSS signal simulator and some simulations are done in the high dynamic scenarios including the step error and slowly growing errors. The experiment results verify that the proposed method can achieve the detection and exclusion of GNSS faults without any NVS limitation.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131592221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the adiabatic efficiency decreases with increasing axial gaps, and the stage efficiency is dominant by rotor2. The variation of aerodynamic force is different for the two rotors. In addition, the variation of the fluctuating phenomenon also shows the different behavior for the two rotors as the axial spacing increased. The perturbation form in the tip region varies for different axial gaps. For the axial gap of 60% a spiral focus is generated, and the perturbation form turns to be a star node at the axial spacing of 40%. The impact of the stable spiral focus on the flow field results in the reduction of the efficiency for a larger axial spacing.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129003398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the majority of corresponding researches related to the inlet performance are limited in the continuum region by solving the conventional Navier-Stokes equation (NS solver). In this paper, the primary objective is to examine the rarefaction effect on the aerodynamic performance of scramjet inlet based on the parallel DSMC. First, both the DSMC and NS methods are compared by simulating the low-density hypersonic flow around a scramjet inlet which has been tested in the experiment before. It can be found that NS solver fails to capture the rarefaction flow structure, while the DSMC's solutions match the experimental data well. Then, several hypersonic flow fields with different degrees of rarefaction by changing the flight height are investigated by using DSMC. Some convincing quantitative numerical results related to the flow fields are obtained. The corresponding inlet performance's parameters, such as total pressure recovery coefficient, pressure ratio and flow coefficient, are also compared in details. The numerical results show that a thick viscous layer, which is one of the predominant features of this type of flow field, grows to a thickness almost larger than the height of duct passage with the increase of the rarefaction. Furthermore, shock-boundary layer interactions near the juncture move forward which will greatly affect the inlet performances. These conclusions are very useful to the design of future configuration of hypersonic scramjet inlets.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127744111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that: the efficiency reduction with an increase in tip clearance is found to be approximately linear for both R1 and R2, and both the efficiency and stall margin change of the CRAC are more sensitive to the tip clearance variation in R2. At peak efficiency condition, the tip gap variation in R1 has significant impact on the tip leakage vortex onset point, trajectory and the location of interface between the incoming main flow and tip leakage flow in R1. However, the tip clearance variation in R2 has remarkable effect on those in both rotors. At near stall condition, the tip clearance variation in the two rotors has significant influence on the first rotating stall stage(FSS) phenomenon in CRAC, and the value of normalized tip blockage at leading edge can be used as a criterion to identify the FSS in CRAC","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122465472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
